When i’m playing a necromancer and using bandit chiefs, i always give them targe of the blooded as a shield beefed up (if i’m remembering the name correctly) Its the shield that causes bleeding with every bash just because when i bring a chief back they always and i mean always seem to shield bash more than actually attack, so then constantly stacking bleeding damage because it does indeed stack. They tend to kill many with their flurry of bashes lol.
smart the chiefs also get steel plate ( as their coded to use it if they got it) so you can have them hit the armor cap unlike the vampires that have better stats an around as good ai as each other

Previously, I never payed much attention to the lore. I just zoned out and focused on combat. This was a huge mistake, and that video completely changed my approach to Skyrim. Now I role play my builds or use your builds and limit my choices to RP sensible play. The game is so much more of a challenge. I went from thinking Skyrim was an over rated game, to finally getting why people love the game so much. Now I read books, and watch videos about the lore. I've been playing Skyrim all day every day since the Skyrim civil war video. I just want to say thank you. You took a game that was a beautiful world in an OK game, to a beautiful world in a great game. I love you for that. I NEEDED a new world to escape to because of some serious IRL issues. my favourite has to be arch curate vyrthur, not because he is the best or even top 3 but because he is a snow elf. which knowledge hungry necromancer wouldn't want to have a specimen of an extinct race as their thrall?

I prefer my Thralls not to have any Necromancy spells because there's the risk that one dies, the other raises them, and the Thrall-raised one turns to ash when the spell wears off. Instead I give my Thralls and Riekling Staves of Conjure Atronach and my Companion the Sanguine Rose. I don't think the Riekling actually will use it, but Dead Thralls and regular Companions definitely both can and will, so you can end up with a Companion, a Dremora, a Riekling(or Dog, Troll or Dwarven Spider/Sphere I guess), two(now three) Thralls and two(now three) Atronachs of any mix of elements you choose. Total of seven(now nine) backup fighters for your Dragonborn.
In case anyone else cares, the absolute strongest thrall is a dunmer vampire nightlord. They inherently resist fire which vampires are weak to and for some reason they're the only high level vampire type to use icy spear and thunderbolt. Vampire bosses like the nightmaster have more health but the fact that the nightlords have unique expert level spells makes them much stronger
one thing I kind of wish was, well, a thing is just. being able to use Dead Thrall on a dead follower, regardless of their level at time of death. Which *would* make the whole necromage thing a moot point for this, as most followers (to my knowledge) scale with the player and thus you'd be able to get the follower in question to any level you wish, give them the best equipment you can make, and so on

I totally misinterpreted that puzzle 😂 the Vaermina statue was pointing to the Myths of Sheogorath book. The story about their dispute. My dumb ass mind took that as the solution to the puzzle was to do nothing like how Sheogorath did in the story. Not once did I think Vaermina, Prince of nightmares=sleep. 😂 love you guys!
Probably the most accurate list of Strongest Dead Thralls: 1st. Bandit Chiefs with Studded Dragonscale Armor or Daedric Plate/Mail Armor (lvl 40) - The STRONGEST dead thrall. Extremely hard to find. Sometimes, they are past level 40, probably 48. They will often appear in bandit caves when you’ve unlock some of the alternative armor quests. Has the potential to kill the EBONY WARRIOR by HIMSELF! 2nd. Arch Curate Vyrthur (lvl 75) - You need the full reanimation effects (bloodworm, staff of worms, etc.) to thrall him. Give him Staff of Storms or Dreugh Staff of Judgment, and let hell loose. 3rd. Nightmaster Vampire (lvl 65) - One of the easiest thrall that you can find. You can find them vampire lairs at high levels. Don’t give him a staff, he’s better with weapons than the spells he cast. 4th. Forsworn Ravager Melee with Extra Damage 2.5 (lvl 34) - Their form ID is 000f961a. Probably the hardest thrall to find in the game. The generic melee ravagers aren’t as aggressive as the one with extra damage 2.5. It is extremely hard to distinguish them from their weaker variant, but I found a great way to identify them. They are the melee ravagers that don’t wear helmets. Be wary though… they hit like a truck. 5th. Generic Bandit Chiefs with Nordic Carved Armor (lvl 28) - this generic NPCs include Krev the Skinner and other bandit boss. They are extremely strong when equipped with fully enchanted weapons and armors. 6th. Forsworn Ravager Archer (lvl 34) - Probably the easiest thrall that you can find in this list. Equip them with a highly modified bow and you’re good to go. 7th. Reaver Lords (lvl 28) - they are not great at using weapons, however they are monsters when it comes to casting staves. It is highly recommended to give them staves. 8th. Draugr Deathlord Archers (lvl 40) - these are the strongest draugr type dead thralls in the game, not the melee draugr death overlords. Higher level does not mean stronger all the time. Trust me… 9th. Bandit Marauder Archer (lvl 40) - an archer with great armor. Not as fast as the forsworn ravager, but has higher armor rating when properly upgraded. 10th. Ivara of Olenveld (lvl 40) - she is one of the best mage thralls in the game. Capable of summoning a Wrathman and with her spells at disposal, a great thrall to have. Give her the staff of hasedoki, I mean, come on… Honorable Mentions: Master Class Fire/Frost/Shock Mages, Forsworn Ravager Mage, Fenrik, Thalmor Warrior/Archer, Chief Yamarz, Kinthal, Svarig, Neski Skull Sabre Just sharing some skyrim ae facts. I agree..The game is nearly 14 years old.. But its still one of the beat open world games out their..And the lorw is completely unmatched.. skyrim, Football manager, Civ 5, and Blackout are my fave current games..Skyrim is the only game I like to listen to people talk about though..
Dragonborn: *Masters Dead Thrall.* Mannimarco: "That's cute." *Raises army of Dead Thralls.* I will admit, with mods I run, number of undead I can control at once is... Well it got point to where all guards tell me to watch my magic. I am sure I got a Dead Thrall somewhere around the world still that has not yet caught up on me... I can re-animate 4 at a time, I think? Plus have 6 Skeleton Mages. And a Bone Wolf... And I wear Molag Bal Plate with Double Enchants, including Necromancy +1 Minion ones. And yes, they are a Vampire.
Ah Ordinator One of the best mods Can I recommend apocalypse magic as well Then there is phenderix as well. Might be a bit if slight overlap but they both have unique magic.
@@evancrow2191 Oh I use it... As well as few other Magic Mods. These include: 1. One that adds magics of Paladin, Shadowmage, Druid, Shaman, etc. 2. Additional Elemental Spells (Earth, Wind, Water). 3. Most Broken of All Magics; Shalidor's magic of Time and Space.
This reminds me a bit of a modded build I made a long while ago, I forget the exact mods I was using, but among them were Undeath (and addons for it) and Ordinator. Used Ordinator's necromancy stuff to make a small army of skeletons, and then would hang back and cast spells from afar in my true lich form while my skeletons kept my foes off me... then gathered their bones to repair my underlings and add to their number
imo hes better for a different reason, he is always level 65 no matter your level, so, if you can manage to defeat him early into the game, he will carry hard. BUT in my testing getting him is trickier than you think. as when you enter bloodchill cavern as a vampire and complete the quest as a vampire, if you try and kill him he is marked as essential so hes not able to be dead thralled. you can only get him if you come to bloodchill cavern as a non vampire. the issue is you need to be a vampire yourself to dead thrall him. so essentially during the fight you need to contract sanguis vampiris and wait until you are a vampire without leaving bloodchill as his body will disappear even with a persistent item inside im pretty sure. or now that im thing about it, do you need to be a vampire yourself since he is a vampire? like michael said the bonewolf revenge works on undead targets but not anything else?
@@Charlie-oy8dk cool lmk how you do. i have already tested him with commands and i found at lower levels his pretty invulnerable in most situations since he just recovers his big health pool, but i tested him with some other creation club content and some things like season unending he struggled with bigger targets ig he didnt heal from dwarven centurions, but it would be nice to see his actual potential because i didnt upgrade or enchant his armor or anything or give him weapons, like in this vid i think hes best equipped with sword and board, figure out which enchants im not sure myself. and im not sure you need to turn into a vampire during the fight with him to use necromage since he is undead himself? goodluck o7
Fun tip- put an essential item (ie death brand armour , one piece) in your thralls inventory and they poof way way less. 2 bandit chiefs are the way to go. I like one with a giant club and the other sword and board

Wow, I reckon someone should do a walkthrough for how to get these cool tag-alongs, it could be branched by savefiles at each decision fork, where maybe you need to make choices, and then a test of mettle at the end, to prove how good your choice

Dead Thralls are interesting, but i think that conjured undead are more practical. Mostly because you can relocate them at will. The real deal for summons are the Alyeid Lich and the Wrathman. The Tomb guardian is also really good. The Bone colossus is only really good for bossfights
On my second Playthrough, back in 2013: I used a pair of Thralls as bodyguards. My rule was, anyone who manages to slay my Thrall, shall replace it. External variables meant that the newest thrall was not always the strongest, but as I recall my longest duo was a Dragur Deathknight & Forsworn Briarheart. Love how much effort and details you went into finding out which Thrall was the best.
@FudgeMuppet I had a look at a mod known as Arcanum and saw the repeater illusion spells and thought I'd make a build with it. Using Ordinator and the thundershot repeater spell I'm able to cast the tunderbolt spell and another enemy targeted spell of my choice every time I fire a bow. I'm curious to see what build you'd come up with under the restriction that any Damage spells (like Destruction spells) you shoot has to be done by launching an arrow from a bow. You can use any perk overhaul mod so long as it has a perk that lets you cast a spell by launching an arrow with your bow. You don't have to use Arcanum, I'm using it because I like the spells it adds (for those wondering, someone made a version of it that works with the current version of skyrim called "Arcanum - A New Age of Magic (Fixed)". You are free to use any other mod, so long as the spells you're launching are impactful to the game/damage output. Lastly, no abusing stealth mechanics. I could add some of the ideas I used for my character if other people would like as well
Late to this party but man. I have vastly underutilized this ability by far. I keep dead thralling Deeja and using her to take out her brother. Imagine his shock when he finds out.
A couple pitches for future videos. 1. What REALLY happens to the Dragonborn after they die? Akatosh has a claim on their soul by virtue of their being, but the Dragonborn has also offered their soul to several daedra. A lore video about where the Dragonborn would go would be cool. 2. The High Elf Champion build. An altmer two handed warrior that uses Sinweaver as their weapon of choice and illusion spells like courage to buff their allies. They also use conjuration to summon the ghosts of their powerful ancestors (Shimmergeist is literally an ancient Altmer).

I want necromancy to actually mean something in TES 6. I’ve always thought that summoning, and necromancy specifically, should be harder to do but also be very powerful. There is a lot of in-game lore about necromancers harvesting bodies, committing evil acts, and risking retaliation to gain the power of necromancy. We get none of that when the players uses conjuration. I’d love to see some kind of cost for conjuration other than just magicka. I think dremora/atronachs should be summoned like normal but the time limit is very short, even on master level spells. On the other hand, reanimation could always be permanent but also requires ingredients like bone meal for novice spells. Just an idea, but I really hope that in TES 6, necromancy and daedra summoning has a bigger impact as the evil pathways to great power rather just another spell.
I always stack my thralls with summoning staffs. I find that their AI is good at using them at the beginning of a battle, then putting them away to actually fight
I was dissapointed to see General Falx Carius actually lacks the Undead keyword, an undead level capless (1.5x your level) armored tank with the champion's Cudgel breaking through enemy lines would have made a disgustingly good undead thrall
Ngl, im still pretty happy with my exploited necromancer khajit. He creates a smal army of skeletons with one huge boi, and if that doesn't work, he just uses vampiric grip without transforming into vampire lord. Really funny. Edited because i recalled i did have two thralls before i got annoyed, cant remember their names. Found them about to kill eachother and decided it's funny to make them partners in unlife

I was waiting to see if you would test with the Frenzied Mudcrabs from the Fishing CC content. Hyper aggressive and can cause stun lock on enemies when you have multiple.
I wanna know what the absolute biggest army you can get in AE is (minus ritual stone) Troll/death hound, follower, as many temporary quest followers as humanly possible, bone pile wrathman, 3 dead thralls, ALL equipped with summoning staffs like sanguine rose and storm atronach, hell maybe they could even equip the extra summon gear using a mind control spider glitch. Does arniel's shade take up a slot? I'm talking the absolute biggest militia you can make
I'd be curious how The Butcher or Ralis would do as dead thralls. Also, Orchendor seemed OP based off of his fighting skills shown in the video. The Butcher has always given me trouble in game. Not sure if I just always fight him too early on, or if I don't level up properly.
One Of The best mage dead thrall is Savos Aren (Master of College Winterhold) He is so aggresive with his fireball and he always start a fight by summoning dremora Lord, yeah you heard that right dremora lord not atronach... He also like to use fire/ice/strom cloak But you can only raise him once, when you get the news that savosbwas dead, do not go anywhere, you must raise him there, and after thatt do not finish the quest, just go to other place.. Because if you finish the quest Savos will be gone
I'm going for Vyrthur, Orchendor and maybe some other powerful mage summon, like the Vampire Nightmaster for my 100% magicka absorbing Vampire so i can be in the thick of the fight while my thralls do damage and/or recharge my own magicka
I would personally love more starfield content. I just got my first non-nintendo and I've been loving starfield. But now no-one is playing it or making content on it
Lot of people, myself included, didn’t enjoy starfield. There’s probably just not gonna be very much content for it. Sucks though. More builds would probably get people into it.

I agree..The game is nearly 14 years old.. But its still one of the beat open world games out their..And the lorw is completely unmatched.. skyrim, Football manager, Civ 5, and Blackout are my fave current games..Skyrim is the only game I like to listen to people talk about though..

I will admit, with mods I run, number of undead I can control at once is... Well it got point to where all guards tell me to watch my magic. I am sure I got a Dead Thrall somewhere around the world still that has not yet caught up on me... I can re-animate 4 at a time, I think? Plus have 6 Skeleton Mages. And a Bone Wolf... And I wear Molag Bal Plate with Double Enchants, including Necromancy +1 Minion ones. And yes, they are a Vampire.

@@evancrow2191 Oh I use it... As well as few other Magic Mods. These include:
1. One that adds magics of Paladin, Shadowmage, Druid, Shaman, etc.
2. Additional Elemental Spells (Earth, Wind, Water).
3. Most Broken of All Magics; Shalidor's magic of Time and Space.
This reminds me a bit of a modded build I made a long while ago, I forget the exact mods I was using, but among them were Undeath (and addons for it) and Ordinator. Used Ordinator's necromancy stuff to make a small army of skeletons, and then would hang back and cast spells from afar in my true lich form while my skeletons kept my foes off me... then gathered their bones to repair my underlings and add to their number
Orchendor is the best dead thrall and it's not even close he's basically immune to magic attacks
there's also the waiter, the vampire that you either kill/help in the bloodchill cavern quest, he's level 65 and mainly uses lightning destruction
imo hes better for a different reason, he is always level 65 no matter your level, so, if you can manage to defeat him early into the game, he will carry hard. BUT in my testing getting him is trickier than you think. as when you enter bloodchill cavern as a vampire and complete the quest as a vampire, if you try and kill him he is marked as essential so hes not able to be dead thralled. you can only get him if you come to bloodchill cavern as a non vampire. the issue is you need to be a vampire yourself to dead thrall him. so essentially during the fight you need to contract sanguis vampiris and wait until you are a vampire without leaving bloodchill as his body will disappear even with a persistent item inside im pretty sure. or now that im thing about it, do you need to be a vampire yourself since he is a vampire? like michael said the bonewolf revenge works on undead targets but not anything else?

@@Charlie-oy8dk cool lmk how you do. i have already tested him with commands and i found at lower levels his pretty invulnerable in most situations since he just recovers his big health pool, but i tested him with some other creation club content and some things like season unending he struggled with bigger targets ig he didnt heal from dwarven centurions, but it would be nice to see his actual potential because i didnt upgrade or enchant his armor or anything or give him weapons, like in this vid i think hes best equipped with sword and board, figure out which enchants im not sure myself. and im not sure you need to turn into a vampire during the fight with him to use necromage since he is undead himself? goodluck o7

Fun tip- put an essential item (ie death brand armour , one piece) in your thralls inventory and they poof way way less. 2 bandit chiefs are the way to go. I like one with a giant club and the other sword and board

Wow, I reckon someone should do a walkthrough for how to get these cool tag-alongs, it could be branched by savefiles at each decision fork, where maybe you need to make choices, and then a test of mettle at the end, to prove how good your choice
Really sucks that no one cares about starfield, actually wait no, really sucks that starfield was so mid that no one really cares about it.
Imagine when TES 6 comes out, I can almost guarantee there's going to be a LOT of pissed of people and if that Happens you can say goodbye to Bethesda's already damaged reputation.

Dead Thralls are interesting, but i think that conjured undead are more practical. Mostly because you can relocate them at will. The real deal for summons are the Alyeid Lich and the Wrathman. The Tomb guardian is also really good.
The Bone colossus is only really good for bossfights
On my second Playthrough, back in 2013: I used a pair of Thralls as bodyguards. My rule was, anyone who manages to slay my Thrall, shall replace it. External variables meant that the newest thrall was not always the strongest, but as I recall my longest duo was a Dragur Deathknight & Forsworn Briarheart. Love how much effort and details you went into finding out which Thrall was the best.
I know it's not worth much but, you can reanimate the master vampire in fellows keep. He actually talks to you
@FudgeMuppet I had a look at a mod known as Arcanum and saw the repeater illusion spells and thought I'd make a build with it. Using Ordinator and the thundershot repeater spell I'm able to cast the tunderbolt spell and another enemy targeted spell of my choice every time I fire a bow. I'm curious to see what build you'd come up with under the restriction that any Damage spells (like Destruction spells) you shoot has to be done by launching an arrow from a bow. You can use any perk overhaul mod so long as it has a perk that lets you cast a spell by launching an arrow with your bow. You don't have to use Arcanum, I'm using it because I like the spells it adds (for those wondering, someone made a version of it that works with the current version of skyrim called "Arcanum - A New Age of Magic (Fixed)". You are free to use any other mod, so long as the spells you're launching are impactful to the game/damage output. Lastly, no abusing stealth mechanics. I could add some of the ideas I used for my character if other people would like as well

A couple pitches for future videos. 1. What REALLY happens to the Dragonborn after they die? Akatosh has a claim on their soul by virtue of their being, but the Dragonborn has also offered their soul to several daedra. A lore video about where the Dragonborn would go would be cool. 2. The High Elf Champion build. An altmer two handed warrior that uses Sinweaver as their weapon of choice and illusion spells like courage to buff their allies. They also use conjuration to summon the ghosts of their powerful ancestors (Shimmergeist is literally an ancient Altmer).

I want necromancy to actually mean something in TES 6. I’ve always thought that summoning, and necromancy specifically, should be harder to do but also be very powerful. There is a lot of in-game lore about necromancers harvesting bodies, committing evil acts, and risking retaliation to gain the power of necromancy. We get none of that when the players uses conjuration.
I’d love to see some kind of cost for conjuration other than just magicka. I think dremora/atronachs should be summoned like normal but the time limit is very short, even on master level spells. On the other hand, reanimation could always be permanent but also requires ingredients like bone meal for novice spells. Just an idea, but I really hope that in TES 6, necromancy and daedra summoning has a bigger impact as the evil pathways to great power rather just another spell.
I always stack my thralls with summoning staffs. I find that their AI is good at using them at the beginning of a battle, then putting them away to actually fight
I was dissapointed to see General Falx Carius actually lacks the Undead keyword, an undead level capless (1.5x your level) armored tank with the champion's Cudgel breaking through enemy lines would have made a disgustingly good undead thrall
Being a vampire build I make dawngaurd my army of undead just to stick it to them.
Ngl, im still pretty happy with my exploited necromancer khajit. He creates a smal army of skeletons with one huge boi, and if that doesn't work, he just uses vampiric grip without transforming into vampire lord. Really funny. Edited because i recalled i did have two thralls before i got annoyed, cant remember their names. Found them about to kill eachother and decided it's funny to make them partners in unlife

I usually go for briarhearts when I do use the spell. Usually use dremora lords because the thrall spells always cause glitches for me 😂

I was waiting to see if you would test with the Frenzied Mudcrabs from the Fishing CC content. Hyper aggressive and can cause stun lock on enemies when you have multiple.

Troll/death hound, follower, as many temporary quest followers as humanly possible, bone pile wrathman, 3 dead thralls, ALL equipped with summoning staffs like sanguine rose and storm atronach, hell maybe they could even equip the extra summon gear using a mind control spider glitch. Does arniel's shade take up a slot?

I'd be curious how The Butcher or Ralis would do as dead thralls. Also, Orchendor seemed OP based off of his fighting skills shown in the video. The Butcher has always given me trouble in game. Not sure if I just always fight him too early on, or if I don't level up properly.

One Of The best mage dead thrall is Savos Aren (Master of College Winterhold)
He is so aggresive with his fireball and he always start a fight by summoning dremora Lord, yeah you heard that right dremora lord not atronach...
He also like to use fire/ice/strom cloak
But you can only raise him once, when you get the news that savosbwas dead, do not go anywhere, you must raise him there, and after thatt do not finish the quest, just go to other place.. Because if you finish the quest Savos will be gone

I would personally love more starfield content. I just got my first non-nintendo and I've been loving starfield. But now no-one is playing it or making content on it
The expansion is gonna come out at the end of the month, so there’s gonna be more content for it soon.
Lot of people, myself included, didn’t enjoy starfield. There’s probably just not gonna be very much content for it. Sucks though. More builds would probably get people into it.
@rodspoonskimble161 why do people not enjoy it? I've been avoiding watching reviews because I wanted to experience the game myself without influence one way or another. I'm now 30 hours in so I think I can safely say I enjoy it. I mean it has the problems that seem to be present in all BGS games but there's nothing that popped out to me as being notably bad

I use the Ebony Warrior as dead thrall 👍 and that's just the tip of the iceberg

Personally i have always liked the basic frost atronach, as a tank resisting all kinds of draugr and vampires and the wrathman from downguard.
The problem I have noticed with thralls is that they just unequip the equipment you give them eventually. I haven't found a mod or patch fix for this.
I'm going to have to kindly ask for one more episode of the elder scrolls podcast. I started listening to it a month or two ago and now I'm out of episodes. :( PS. Maiq = Rajhin confirmed
