    Parallax is super critical on an airgun and sadly the scopes that come as a package deal don’t have that. UTG has a bunch of scopes that will handle the reverse recoil of a break barrel/piston driven airgun. Most of them are well under 150$ and have side parallax adjustment and for the price of what you get are really great deals. I have 5 and have never had a single issue with any of them. I hope these manufacturers realize of they want their product to shine more bright…they should either not supply a crappy scope and save the buyer money or put one in the box of a higher quality for a few more bucks imho. If it’s that important to me and you enjoy hitting the 10 ring almost every time…than I’m most likely not alone in my line of thinking. God bless.

      I use a lot of UTG as well. Love the scopes for air guns even out to 100 yards. I have only had issues with one but it was a manufacturing defect. The reticle did not line up correctly. The horizontal line from left to center, then right to center was a bit off, but it did not effect accuracy so I kept it as is. It’s only a 4x scope for a close range gun. But either way.. awesome scopes.

    • @heithwatkins
      @heithwatkins 2 роки тому +1

      Never owned UTG. I know SG loves them. But now uses Blackhound because of its camera mount ability and high quality. I will probably buy the Blackhound Genesis 50mm next. Unless I go with the Hawk 8-32 power for the extra magnification. Both are about $500 bucks.
      But the UTG SWAT looks good for $167. However it's only 4-16 power and I already have Hawk in that regard. But money talks and the UTG is side focus.
      Maybe I need to try the UTG first.

    I have gone thru two of these in the last few weeks. The first one started out fine then for whatever reason it changed the aim point to the point that I wound the up-down dial until it ran out of clicks. I sent it back to Midway Supply and they promptly sent me a replacement. the replacement lasted 30 shots and the reticle shifted 20 or so degrees to the right. after aligning the scope to bring the reticle back to the proper position. then the next shot the reticle shifted to the left by 20 deg. Something inside gave up for sure. I love the way the scope looks and I was hoping that it would do the job. I understand that BSA is actually owned by Gamo so you would expect it to work on their Gamo Magnums. I have now ordered a Vortex for twice the money of the BSA.

    Performance tip, not in the instructions: The o-ring seal on the breech, (really a o-ring sleeve), leaks air on the Gamo magnum guns, and you probably notice pellet drop after your first shot, (for your next several shots), if you are shooting long. The sleeve is easily removed with a small flat head screw driver, (don't damage it, it does not take much to move it up and out of the groove.), and you will probably see that it is coated with oil from assembly and shooting, (I have 300 shots through a new gun). I clean the rubber o-ring sleeve with mild soap and water, clean the groove with a solvent, (do no let any get into the compression chamber through the port hole), and use a dab of gasket sealer on the bottom of the sleeve, and put it back in. Just use a little bit because it will squish out of the edges and on the surface toward the transfer port hole. Clean up the breech face and the o-ring end, and let it sure for 2 days before you shoot. I am also going to try a .005" shim under the sleeve to get a bit more o-ring pressure on the closed breech.
    I have hit 930fps with this gun and a 16.2 gr. H&N Hornet, and I don't think it was dieseling, (but possible a bit I guess). If you don't notice more power and more consistency, then the air has to be going around the piston, which should not happen with a good piston seal. From what I have seen from this gun, we are losing repeatability and power with air leakage around the o-ring seal. This is my 2nd gun, and my "sealed" 1st gun shot really well to 80 yards (2' Targets 4 out of 5 times, not on a bag, but shooting fairly steady from a door jam.) until I accidentally dieseled it and damaged the piston seal.

    I've had a Gamo Bull Whisper Extreme springer in .22cal for 10 years now and it's a scope killer. I like the gun otherwise but don't want to sacrifice another scope so I mounted flip-up front & rear iron sights (BUIS) on a 20mm Weaver rail. Don't have much sight radius but it might work, waiting on a front sight adjustment tool (don't like the bullet trick). My Gamo NRA Special 1000 has a BSA 4X32 scope and I love it, crystal clear image. Gamo makes good guns.

    The issues with the accuracy is definitely in those pellets. I have never found them to be accurate in any gun I’ve owned. JSB or H&N all the way.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 2 роки тому

      I agree, especially with H&N 16-18gr. They have thicker skirts than JSB, and almost none dented in the tin. You lose about 10-30fps with a dent in the skirt, and if your shooting long, that's a dropped ball.

      I have both, the Maxxim in 0.177 and the Magnum in 0.22. For closer range, out to 25 yards or so, plinking and hitting lighter targets, I prefer the Maxxim due to much less cocking effort and easier handling. For longer range, especially 50 yards or more, and heavier targets, the Magnum does better. Really depends on what I'm shooting at and the range, love both rifles.

    Ive wat hed damn near every gamo magnum video and yet not one of the review videos, have mentioned that some pellets get caught up and snagged in the magazine then the mag breaks and gamo dont have the mags under warranty anymore becoz of that well not in new Zealand any way, i really dont like how flimsy the whole mag set up is, its an awesome idea but you still got to cock the barrel at the end of the day so u might as well push a slug in while your there

      Hey there.. the key is to make sure that the pellets are inserted all the way and that the O-ring is around the waste of the pellet. If you don't get them seated properly, then you can back out and possibly cause some of the issues you are talking about. Be sure to properly load the mag with compatible pellets, and you should be good to go.

      Depends on the range and application. If I’m target shooting, as high as it will go and still provide a clear sight picture. If hunting, especially when stalking, a lower magnification like 3 to 6. If I’m hunting with a 2nd focal plane scope in the open, generally 10x and leave it.

      The gun weighs 6.88lbs naked. The scope and rings are probably about 7oz for the rings, and lets say a conservative 17oz for the scope, (total 24oz, or 1.5lbs.), and 22% more weight is not pretty major? But a 8.33lb scoped gun is still pretty tough to beat. It's a pig on the heavy wood stock .30 Hatsan, about 10.5lbs if I remember decently. It's a major difference, but still not a heavy scoped gun. You should try the 3-9x33 Leupold Freedom scope, and beat the tar out of it. I still broke mine, but it has a lifetime warranty, (that I hope they do not deny me because it is on a ir gun, but they told me it was covered, sending it in soon after 5000 shots, best scope I ever had for mag springers.). Talk them into selling it stock with a mill dot reticle, and it is about $300.00 I paid $250.00 more to put a mill dot reticle in it, and if they fix it, it is still worth it to me. It is a 12 oz scope,---and you will feel the difference between your scope today. :)

    I recommend not mounting the scope like this. If you do and the stop pin is too far down when you mount this, you will not get a proper fit.
    Remove the scope from the rings, then back out the stop pin and mount the ring assembly (single mount). After mounting the ring assembly, screw down the stop pin. Then proceed with mounting the scope. Rings should be torqued to about 13-in pounds in an X pattern. The base probably at 30-in pounds. Double-checked with the manufacturer.

    But I've been there and done that with magnum break barrel rifles.
    If I purchase another. It will be the TX 200. I will put at least a $500 scope on it. My biggest decision is the HC, regular length version, or Pro Sport. I want 177cal. I have heard the shorter barrel is better for accuracy because of less dwell time for the pellet leaving the barrel. I want to shoot out to 55 yards.
    If you, or anyone here has had the privilege to shoot them all. I would appreciate any feedback.
