These two, Denk and Isserlis, make a terrific combination and field any ball.
What mastery, and balance between cello and piano. Magnificent!
Beautiful realization of this magnificent sonata. I don't understand why it is not played more often in concert- it is possible that the difficulty of the piece is a challenge- thank you for posting this!
Haha, I wouldn't be so sure - the 1st Saint-Saëns cello sonata is by far one of the easiest for cello (while the piano part is admittedly more virtuosic) - maybe some vain cellists are afraid they won't show off enough with this piece. Which is a shame, it's quite beautiful!
Ah, This is such amazing music. Saint-Saens, one of the most underrated well-known composers out there.
Beatiful, brilliant playing !
Fantastic. Can’t understand why this, the Sonata #2 and all the superb pieces for cello and piano are not performed more often. I have performed many of those pieces and they are enjoyable for performers and the audience.
Le deuxième mouvement est un pur bonheur.
Such an incredibly underrated composition...
Beautiful playing, one of the best in the world.Such an ex
quisite flexible,slim performance... Bravissimo !
magnificently!!!!!
The second movement reminds me of Schumann's song "Wehmut" from op. 39.
see the beginning of the recording and see where there was a concert
when was this concert?
