매일매일 찾아보고, 듣는 중입니다. 보통 일하면서는 이어폰으로 전해지는 음악소리에 집중하는데, 이 공연은 보지 않을 수가 없어요.
이 공연장에 앉아있는 사람들이 정말로 부러우면서도 매일매일 원할때마다 볼 수 있는 저도 참 좋은시대에 살고 있구나 하며 감사하는 마음이 절로 듭니다.
매일매일 좋아요를 수십번 마음속으로 누르며 다녀갑니다. 내일 또 올게요~

Cho and Gabetta?! Can't get better than this.
Every time I watch this recital I am blown away by it. In 60 years listening to classical music, this ranks as an unequalled number 1.
According to behind story on this festival, Seong-Jin Cho was replaced in such a short notice due to illness of the player, he had only two days to understand scores and practice for collaboration with other instruments...what an amazing pianist S.J. Cho is!!

A bit like showing up to a performance with orchestra never having studied the solo part of the concerto. Pianist fail to include the vast amount of chamber music repertoire written primarily for their instruments combined with either a single stringed instrument or an ensemble. All of Beethoven’s output of chamber music for the Pianoforte with other instruments should have a firm important place in every pianist repertoire. That said, he did an excellent job.
I believe he played this sonata before with Andrei Ionita in Verbier 2018. The one he talked about in dg podcast were the beethoven trio with cello and clarinet. But yeah he also did this one with little preparation & still played amazingly
Seong Jin Cho is a wonderful pianist.
And yes these sonatas cannot be done without a fabulous pianist which is so hard to find
Well, I did it and only missed about 3 notes and played about the same number of wrong notes. But we definitely set a slower tempo. Wow, I’m rather pleased with myself.
This Sonata brings me to tears. How beautiful is Beethoven.

Only Beethoven could write for the cello so as to ignite it on fire. The clarity and intricate passages were played with great skill by Gabetta, and the piano accompaniment of Seong-Jin was sensitive, spirited, and totally expert, so that both instruments were in an equal dialogue. In a humorous aside, it looks like the virus lock down kept Seong-Jin from getting a hair cut! He reminded me of the Beatles in the 60's! But I still adored his playing. :-)

Joe Owens. The piano part is not an accompaniment. It’s the main primo part of the sonata. The cello is in a supporting obligato role to the piano. That is why Beethoven himself entitled the piece sonata for Pianoforte and violoncello. Note the order with the piano placed first in the title and the cello second. That is how these sonatas were conceived and thought of. It is a big mistake to try to make the piano part into an accompaniment. It is not.That is going against the composer’s wishes. This also applies to Beethoven’s sonatas for pianoforte with violin oblige. These are chamber works for the pianoforte paired with a stringed instrument,not much different than the piano trios,quartets etc. There is also a sonata for Pianoforte and Horn in F major in the same dynamic. Listen carefully to these works and you will hear for yourself. In the least the instruments are equally paired. They are duo sonatas.
@@coralreef909 Yes, thank you for the correction. Later, after thinking this performance over, I actually came to this conclusion myself. However, the way this performance was presented, the cellist took all the "up front" credits, and Seong-Jin was always put in the background. That did make me angry. The two should have bowed together as equals.
@@joeowens6180 It's good you acknowledge these works in general as equal performances. There are no "accompanists" here. Gabetta's prominence here is because Seong Jin-Cho, although a wonderful artist is a young, new, emerging artist while Sol Gabetta has a been a brilliant cellist who by now is an institution. Her status is well-deserved because as an artist she is so unique.
The comfort of their performance is irreplaceable

This is seriously wonderful music by two virtuosos perfectly attuned. Ms. Gabetta's cello has a sonority without peer while Mr. Cho's piano sparkles like diamonds. Fingers fly and the music seems to float without effort. Simply marvelous.

You are exactly right. I have played this masterpiece multiple times (I am an amateur pianist) and I can’t imagine a better performance.
One of the most communicative and brilliant performances of this Sonata I have ever heard.Extraordinary virtuosity from both instruments. The piano part is more like a concerto.Seong-Jin is magnificent throughout. Seymour Bernstein

네이버에서 봤는데 이듀오는 피아노 대타로 조성진씨가 나왔대요 그때는 어떤곡을 할지는 미정이라 했는데, 옛날 이오니처와 했던곡을 고르지 않았나 하는 제 생각입니다!
제 생각도 그랬어요. 이오니처와 함께 한 연주는 유튭에서 찾을 수 없어 아쉬워 했거든요.
원래의 피아노는 넬슨 괴르네와의 듀오였더라구요. 솔 가베타와 자주 듀오를 하던 분이 부상으로 성진씨가 함께한 것인데 성진씨도 멋지게 대타 역할을 잘 해냈네요. 몸건강히 잘 이겨내시길~~**

I spoke in the past of Seong Jin Cho's mastery of his instrument without really mentioning Sol Gabetta's wonderful technique as I should have done. I mustn't hide my admiration for her mastery of the use of her bow which surpasses that of any other cellist I've heard. If she desires to hold a long note, her up-bows and down-bows are barely perceptible. And the rich tonality she gets from her bow is legendary, also beyond that of any other cellist.

여러 연주자들 동영상 및 음반 비교해봤지만 이렇게 첼로가 돋보여야할 부분에서 확실하게 피아노 고음부분까지 확실히 줄여서 첼로 소리를 고스란히 드러나게 하는 피아노 연주는 없는 듯!
피아노로 첼로를 연주하는 것 같이 같은 리듬을 타는 부분도 탁월하고!

I can hear all the harmonies played by Seong-Jin Cho for this wonderful performance. We can safely say that they both play so well together. Seong-Jin's clarity is terrific and, of course, Sol is marvelous, as usual.

멋진 연주입니다.
누구나 다 베토벤3번 첼로소나타를 연주하지만,
이토록 훌륭한 연주는 찾기가 쉽지않읍니다.
늘 들어도 좋은 솔 가베타와 조성진의 영상입니다 ...두 악기가 화음을 이루며 각각 들어나야 할 부분에서는 첼로의 감각적인 저음과 피아노의 반짝이는 음색이 직관적으로 보완해주며 서로를 빛나게 합니다 늘 들어도 이러한 음악적 감각이 놀랍기만 하고 더 좋은 표현을 하고 싶은데 나의 표현력의 한계가 안타깝네요
