Your truck has a 3.5 engine not a 4.0
Ya I realized, no idea what i was smoking that day
I just got mine today for the tacoma. Did you ever figure out how to get the oil pressure information?
Did u ever get the mount fir the scan gage?
Negative, ended up selling this truck shortly after this video
Some of the digits in the code in the description are off by a couple of numbers.

Here's the page I got my codes off of.
I'm currently running Trans Fluid Temp 1& 2, Engine Oil Temp, and Current Gear
@@maxthemarlin I found the page. your codes are mostly correct. I think you just inputef one digit wrong on Tran 1 and then one digit wrong on trans 2 when you typed it.
Would this work on a 96 Tacoma?
Does that have an OBD2 Port? If so, yes there's probably codes you'd have to find that are specific for your vehicle
vs Shift OBD2 app ?
I'd rather have a unit like this dedicated versus having to use my phone
Did you have to pull the weather stripping off to hide the cable? Am doing this on my 4runner and want to run it the same way. Thanks
Sorry I should have filmed that part, But yes I went behind the weatherstripping straight down for about 18 inches and then behind the plastic panel, I popped the panel off and found the plug behind there, super self-explanatory once you’re in there
I came for the Scan Gauge/Tacoma Combo but stayed for the dog in the trailer! LOL! What a kook!
Just got a SG2 along with a Trail Hunter mount for the center console cubby mount. Not sure if I'll roll with that mounting location or not but today I'll be setting up and plugging the info in to use it. Towing is my deal, too. I'm very interested in tracking the trans-temp as that's the real concern for longevity. I'll be doing 30k mile trans services regardless what the manual or Toyota says. I'm also looking into installing a bigger-better trans cooler system, too. Just bought this TRD OR 4x4 DCLB almost a year ago and just recently bought a bitchin Lunar Rock flavored '22 RAV4 AWD XLE for the wife and they're both likely the last cars we will buy new if at all so longevity is paramount. I thought I was done towing anything substantial in my life when I went for the Tacoma but a month or so ago, I got a hair-brained idea and bought a 4200 lb NoBo travel trailer. After putting it on the CAT scales, it's all completely within factory ratings and capacity specs but like said, it's not going anywhere fast! I absolutely LOVE this truck so I intend to just "deal with it!" Thanks for the info on the Scan Gauge II. I'm motivated to go out and get it wired up!
I am planning on buying a key west 189fs which weighs 1650lbs dry. Do you think I’d need to worry about getting something like this to monitor temps driving 1000miles to the FL Keys from MD over two days?
That’s a cool boat. I’d say that’s a good reason to buy one. The only questionable thing I’ve experienced is pulling trailers up a short steep hill..trans temps go over 250 but then back down to around 200
@@maxthemarlin thanks for the input!
Is this capable of showing oil pressure on a third GEN Tacoma?
Negetive, oil temp yes
@@maxthemarlin right after I made the comment, I continued watching the video and saw oil pressure was addressed
How do you put in codes for the Tacoma? Wanting this for the exact same reason, my boat and trailer are only about 2700 pounds but want it to also do drain and fills on my trans every 30k. Question is what Trans temp is for the pan?
www.scangauge.com/support/x-gauge-commands/toyota-lexus-scion/
Here's the website with all the codes, you plug these into the Scan Gauge itself. I would recoment the trans temp #2 being the more important one. From what I understand, thats the temp exiting the tranny, which tends to always be hotter than the trans temp #1, which is entering
I changed mine a little since this video, may do an update video soon
This guy just rambles on never showing anything of value about the Scan Gauge set up, etc.
Doesn't show how you put in codes in !! So doesn't teach you anything.
