Wow,,,,,,,,, great information,,,,, I never knew that there were anything other than "SCAN GAUGE",,,, thanks for that info,,,,,,,,,,,> I'll buy 2 scan gauges, one for the wifey's Toy, and one for MINE!
Thank you for reviewing this. It would have been better maybe a month or so down the road. That way you could actually say you have used the Scan Gauge. As that sentence was kinda disappointing. Good day
Can you check and clear any other codes than when your engine light comes up? Specifically ones that come up with the light bulb picture light that comes up on the dash..I'm looking for something that clears codes on my Amarok from using led lights namely extra reverse lights and headlights that are led..TIA
@@SarahandKeelanTravels Thanks..I just wanted to make sure it can clear other codes not specific to the ones that come up with the engine/drivetrain light.
If you choose to use the boost instead of map, you need to calibrate it. You turn ignition on, let the SG load up, and you should see it go to zero. Then it's all good.
Good review Keelan, should have asked..I would have recommended the ScanGuage 2. I got the deal from PDP including the cover that makes it feel a lot better etc mate. I have been too lazy to put the Xcodes in haha. Do you have spare time :) ?
Thanks Ashley! Nice they are a bit more pricey but a lot better than Eds. To be honest I’m flat tack! But it honestly took me 2 minutes to do it’s soo easy!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels I'm sure its easy. I'm just a lazy bastard. Got the for cguages I check and the trip monitor! I just have to sit down and look at the website and codes etc. It was real handy when we went remote in January and monitored EGT's, gear box temps etc.
Ive heard of them however haven't properly researched it. Those gauges generally speaking arnt programable (same as EDS) I know a lot of them if not all of them won't show you Torque converter temps and EGT's which are pretty essential if your towing.
I’ve got a torque app 8 bucks, Bluetooth OBD2 50 bucks, cheap android tablet from the post office 70 bucks and have 50 + gauges that does way more than those stupid things put together! There’s heaps of reviews on it.
Newer reviews say cheap Bluetooth readers on automatic transmissions do not allow the torque converter to lock up at highway speeds which strains the transmission.. so beware
The 'EDS' is a bit of a knock off - and does not seem to be available in the US. As for 'soft plastic' on the EDS, yes that fills very cool as long as it lasts. But that soft, rubbery plastic - often used to make cheap stuff 'appear' better - tends to break down into a horrible sticky mess. If unlucky, not even a dose of isopropyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, or even acetone (which can do real damage) will clean up the sticky mess.
Nice review guys. Btw EDS is not scangauge so should not be called that way. Just some people like eds started using scangauge name although is has its trade mark to marked their replicas of scangauge which are actually just simmple cheap chinese engine readers...
Thanks for the heads up mate. Was un aware I have as making a mistake in the terms! Feel a bit silly now haha! Cheers for that and feel free to pull me up on anything else you pick up on! You seem like your well educated on these sorts of things!
Buy a Rolex or a Chinee knockoff. Have my Scan Gauge 2 since 2008. Now on my sixth vehicle. Most vehicles don't give voltage or actual engine temp. Many of the parameters are beyond the average driver, just program the ones suitable for your needs. It could save an expensive trip to the shop with the code reader function as well.
Not boring, I have had a Scangauge2 for probably about 10 years and you just taught me about the Xgauges. Thank you for that.
Oh that’s epic mate! The scan gauges are really good, major selling point for me
The most useful X-Gauge is Distance to Empty, after a few tank fills, it gets really accurate.
Oh nice what car do you have? My Prado has a distance to empty on the flat screen head unit already!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels I have an FJ Cruiser, with an aux tank.
Great rig! Love the power and they are a very capable car straight from the factory!
Wasn’t boring at all, very good comparison of both, thanks
Thank you Grey!!!
I have the scan gauge, had one on my current vehicle (Bronco) and my last two vehicles have been awesome. I love them.
Another informative video Keelan
Thanks legend 🤙🏽🍻
Great Video! Hopefully you have the new ScanGauge 3.

No worries thanks for watching
Hey mate great review!! u should do 1 where u talk about all the different readings it takes. And can u set alarms on em?
Great review, I am looking at the Ultimate 9 codebreaker version also.
Awesome mate! I’ve heard good things
The EDS is a relabeled TurboGuage IV, they can be found for as little as AU$50 on sale or about AU$65-70 at normal price.
Does it give your audio alarm when the engine overheat?
Yes it does but you don’t want you transmission getting that hot ever, let alone every time you tow.
Thank you for reviewing this. It would have been better maybe a month or so down the road. That way you could actually say you have used the Scan Gauge. As that sentence was kinda disappointing. Good day
In the u.s. scan gauges 2 are $150. I have 2 and it works great!

Yeah mate!! It clears codes

Never even heard of EDS before watching this video. There's now a scangauge 3 now
3? That’s awesome had no idea
This is a great review thanks
Cheers rusty!
Hi mate is your vx or kakadu. Installed scan gauge 2 in my 13 kakadu but I am loosing all my cameras. Once I remove it everything goes back to normal.
Hey mate. We have a GXL and have had no issues with the cameras! This one might be a mechanic job!
I would pay extra for the Banks Power gauges. They look nicer and aesthetics and ease of use are important.
i used sg2 from 2008 until yesterday...when i upgraded to sg3,
Hi great review. Have you looked into the OBD2 that links to your Iphone? shows gauges?

Got any links for these?.
Narh we don’t sorry! Jorji comment above is a good one and maybe have a look at those options too!
Newer reviews say cheap Bluetooth readers on automatic transmissions do not allow the torque converter to lock up at highway speeds which strains the transmission.. so beware
the bluetooth type scanners readers have awful data lag and also can be glitche inducing to your obd2/ECU. scangauge 2 is a very solid lab grade unit.
Ultra gauge is awesome. Many people are using them instead of scan gauge simply because of the better display.
I agree ultra gauge has much larger and easier screen
good on ya cobber, give it a go
Cheers Mate!
