Thank you for watching our video!
Very informative thanks
I will stop picking my green figs now 🤦♀️
I am glad it was helpful!
💥Great video and thanks for the great info that you’ve shared. I just picked 5 off of the fig tree that I inherited after my dad passed away 2 years ago. Last summer ( my guest first with it) I got nothing but this summer it’s loaded. Is that typical? I just ate the 5 that I picked and they were not 100% dark but had the slightest touch of green on 3 of them. I had no idea how to tell when they were ripe but thankfully you set me straight and it seems that I should’ve waited a little longer. There was one out of the bunch that was completely dark in color and slightly cracked open and I thought that was over ripe but it seems that it’s not after hearing from you.
I can’t wait to pick more in the next several days patiently waiting for them to ripen more.
Cheers from NJ. 🤟🏼☀️🥭
wonderful, I am so happy it helped!!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
My pleasure, I hope you find it useful!
Thanks for the info. Ours got off to a bad start. The deer ate the top off one and the other got mowed but they have grown back and I saw some very small figs on but still green. Ours is Hardy Chicago variety
Oh no! I am glad to see that there are a few left. I'll bet your fig will bouce back by next year. Good luck with them!
My little LSU fig tree is starting to make figs and I've got a couple of nice purple ones I'm wondering if I should pick. This was pretty helpful.
@@Grayald it was a good year, they were large
Either your figs are 10 times larger than mine , or you have incredibly small hands !
appreciate the part about leaving the half eaten fig there... thank you
@@briancrowley6413 My pleasure!
WOWWW your figs are huge! What variety are they? We have Turkey Figs here in Western Kentucky. Just picked our 130th fig this season in zone 7b.
Thanks! The are Black Jack figs, and they are pretty tasty!
Thank you for the video!
Do you just eat the whole fig? Also, do you have any recipes for figs?
I eat the whole fig, less the skin. They never last long enough to use in a recipe! :)
Thanks! New figger here... never had a tree before
They are a great addition!
Do you know if you can grow fig plant from the ripe seeds?
Hi! I have never tried growing from seeds. Cuttings usually seem faster and easier. But if you try, I hope you have good luck!
What month do they ripen?
Some have two crops, one in spring and another in fall. But I usually plan for just the Fall. In our climate that is October-ish, we are USDA Zone 10B.
thank you very much
Thank you for watching!
Do all figs turn color when ripe?
No, there are green figs that ripen fully green.
Thanks for your information
My pleasure!
What zone are you growing your figs?
Zone 10b
my figs are still green and hard to the touch, is that normal?
They don't sound quite ripe yet. A ripe on should gently yield, like a ripe peach would.
For me it's the squirrels ... cute little stinkers steal 'em then you know they're ripe.
True! :)
