I have a good story regarding this one. I go get shots monthly for my asthma, and here for months, I've had to call them to correct my travel claim because the mileage only warrants around 10 dollars of reimbursement. Every time i was submitting it through their system, it showed me as traveling to what looked like northeastern Kentucky and saying it was around 800 miles warranting hundreds of dollars in reimbursement. It finally took me reaching this really nice Iraq veteran named Jerome who works in Nashville to change the geocache code.
Thanks for the info Clay! As always you're on it!
Some guys don’t even know they get paid to travel to there appointments
but no reimbursement if not service connected......which i say is BS. oh well....
@harryharry3193 depends on your disability rating. 30% or higher, everything is reimbursed sc or not.
Thanks Clay 👍
Oh yeah! I haven't been able to get it to work for a while. Meanwhile, my 30 day deadline has expired to claim my mileage. I've made calls and got a form to fill out that doesn't make it any easier because it requires receipts that I haven't gotten yet.
Total let down this system

The va routinely denied my travel pay requests. It went on for months. I filed a claim and months later someone called me and apologized, sent 2 checks, one $575 and other $450ish. I'm several months behind again so I guess another chain
@@-Fluxordirect deposit. They say they stopped sending check, but I have one older buddy who never setup DD and still gets a check
Those are solid payments for travel. I hope you aren’t traveling super far for appointments. If so, that sucks!!!

But 91% approval rating. 😂
I know right?

How come they dont just automatically pay for travel based on VA kept appointments and means of transportation POV, Uber in your MyUnhealthyUnderratedVet portal?
They can't even read the CFR!!!
An average time to enter a claim for processing is about 20-25 minutes…gets an F Grade on that point! It should not take congressional intervention and liaison to get a claim funded to the p check payment phase. The VA staff that managed travel is woofully understaffed. Who is managing the VA….time for heads to roll
My last appt at the VA with my PCP, May 9th. Left my house at noon, got back after 1900. I take a car to the ferry, pay $25 one way, drive to the VA, back to the ferry for another $25 and drive home. Per the VA my reimbursement is supposed to be $17, but they denied my claim. So, i dont even get the mileage. Thanks VA, may I have another.
Call your Congressional staffer…
Demand that this be looked into and resolved. You served-you deserve!
Thanks for posting - nailed it!
Appreciate You Clay, your answer to me And this platform to which I could feel confidence in posting a
Salient comment as a Senior Vet of 78 years and thirty years active claimant
With Our V.A.😊
I have been dealing with the VA for over 26 years now, in Iowa City. I have only had one bad experience, always got my travel money within 1 or 2 weeks. I must be lucky or something. My eye doctor has been the greatest.
"many are older veterans....". I say MOST are older vets. Thx for the update Clay.
BTSSS works fine in our VHA region. It is an auto process that sometimes pulls claims out to check toll receipts, mileage etc. There is one vet who is 100% so he gets travel minus deductibles in the bank in 5-7 workdays where my first online BTSSS claim for was pulled to check . They are short staffed here just like labs. a year ago I could drive to clinic just for labs and wait no more than 10 minutes. yesterday I waited 50 minutes. At our hub VA hospital there are 17 stations for blood draw but they often have less than 7-9 working.. if you go for labs in some places get a good book. With BTSSS I figured it out in abut 15 minutes but like it is said some older vets, and btw I am 77 but computer literate since late 90s, some older vets just can't get the electronic stuff going. My contractor for cp exams sent checks for travel in a week after the exam
Call the VA. after that doesn't work for you in a month, contact your local congressional rep.
I recently requested my C file through my VSO and he said that he’s been given guidance by the VA to not distribute those anymore because it states the raters name, etc.
I found this to be bull crap…has anyone else run into this issue?
NO! However VSO is full of
Crapola. Persevere, File a FOIA! They are then compelled to-Deliver IT
On a CD Rom
Yeah, whoever that person is is selling you a crock of shit. Find a new vso immediately.
I have never had an issue with BTSSS. All of my travel pay is reimbursed...sometimes in under 24 hours.
36 million could been paid to veterans.. but wasted
That's great info! Thanks.
my typical is over $70.
VA Online Travel claims system, called the BTSSS which I conclude it should be called the BS System. A blunt instrument that gets an F grade for total dis functionality. First, it used “Tom Tom” GPS mapping component from the early days of GPS, circa 1985 product and is a debacle. Any application made
Don't forget that you even have to pay a "deductible" on 3 of your trips to the VA! $6 for each of your appointments to add up to $18 a month. It says it is law
I think the online option is decent, but not enough for older Vets or those struggling with Mental Health issues. The VA could simply require the VA Medical Staff or C&P Examination company to ask the Veteran (yes/no) about being reimbursed for travel. A simple checkbox in the patient's records transferred to the disbursement section. It's not rocket science.
We still have a kiosk, however it does take months and then I’ll get a slew of payments
Spend $36 million and it works 30% of the time. If they spend $100 million it'll work 100% percent of the time 😂😂😂. Government logic.
I found the online format confusing and gave up long ago. Now, I only file when I can do so by paper form at the VAMC.
They are saving millions. This new VA travel reimbursement is so bad, my VA started using the old paper system, but only for VA visits. I have lost hundreds of dollars on community care travel. When I call my VA for help doing the online version, even they can't figure it out. The lower workers are just a pissed as we are. I called the WhiteHouse VA hotline. That is how Congress is finding things out.
Yep ive been waiting for my money for a month now filing online
Tried to call to get a community care address entered and no one answers or responds to messages.
30 is abysmal
If the community care doctors get paid then the veteran should also get reimbursed. Tired of having to do more than necessary to get reimbursement
Semper Fi
Damn VA just getting fucking rocked with combos at this point.
civ div always said follow the money and now he is withholding content for members only?? how much money does one need to help vets once they have 100%. there are other places with knowledge about secondary to tinnitus which civdiv put behind a paywall
Members don’t get anything except a discord server, dude. Every video outside of my personal healthcare videos are public.
Someone who isn’t a member gets just as much as someone who is a member. Not sure what your angle is here. If I was consulting, then I’d agree with you.
Let me know your thoughts.
