I have only discovered this great and brave man today, about nine years after he's gone. Now I intend to watch every video available, performances, interviews, lessons, doesn't matter...trying to be better player and better person...watching someone playing guitar and smiling while carrying along batteries and wiring connected to the pump built into his heart...Thank you Tony for having this interview and playing with Pete
Pete was my friend. He taught me how to play guitar when I was just starting out in my songwriting career. I was in my twenties. He was one of the most genuine, kind, self-deprecating people I have ever known, who had a great sense of humor. I will miss him always. He played in my band often and he opened for me band. Pete may have been an instrumentalist, but the audience loved him every time!! This is a Great interview with a wonderfully talented musician and a great friend. Thank you for doing the interview.
I've been studying and playing the guitar for over 30 years. Pete Huttlinger was the reason and inspiration in doing so. In my humble opinion... he was and is the greatest player and teacher of the instrument of all time. For a man I never meet he truly has molded me into who and what Iam. He truly seemed like a great man!
Hard to believe, such a mighty talent and even better person. RIP Pete and thank you for your wonderful instructional material and beautiful guitar playing. A big fan for many, many years. A tremendous loss. Thank you for sharing the great video.
I've been near death myself and not very healthy now so I try to get the most if every day.Pete was a stand up guy as well as a great player too overcome all he did and to continue on.great vid.R.I.P.
I had a stroke too, in 2018 I know exactly what he's talking about, and he felt, I am trying to recover by learning how to play Guitar, I am not a guitar player, I am a photographer but learning guitar helps me a lot with my right hand and moving my finger up and down.
Wow. I completely can relate. I've suffered 2 strokes in 2 years and now my right side, my picking side is done. I can only really do downstrokes now but with the help of Black Mountain picks, I can at least play some again. It's great to see you playing guitar again, keep up the fight. You are not alone.
@@joelfernandez536 All I can tell you is to work hard with it. Your brain will rewire some. Not all, but depending on how hard you work at it, you can gain some back. Good luck and let me know how it goes for you. I've had subs tell me, after watching some of my guitar videos, that they noticed an improvement in my playing. I know I noticed it too.
I saw this when you first posted it a while back. What an incredible story and guy. His playing was phenomenal, but more importantly his dedication to his gift as a guitarist... Wow! I'm glad to have learned about him just before his passing. Thanks for sharing, Tony!
Great interview as always Tony P...Pete's inspiration as an incredible musician lives on to this day as does the example he set for how to make the most of life despite overwhelming adversity.
His books and music are still available on his website. GO there and BUY something and tell your friends! He produced so much work after the stroke and heart failure. Beyond amazing is an understatement.
I feel your question is a hypothetical one...but if you survived your best friends most likely would be cucumbers, squash and and multitude of other veggies. Thank God Erin was there to get him immediate medical help.

Believe me, you can do it. And I will be praying for you
So much for my excuses not to progress from chords and strumming. Incredible resilience. God bless his bride.

RIP Pete. You were one of the greats.
Wow, I am speechless!
Thank you for sharing his amazing story.
That was awesome and inspiring. No reason I can not play like that if I put the time in!
Pete's story is very inspirational. It makes my petty excuses for not being able to play seem ridiculous.
Pickin with Pete. I cannot even imagine.
OMG that song was awesome . i might need a tab to learn it
Omg that was amazing.. thank you so beautiful...
Incredible video!
I had zero excuses not to practice and learn before I viewed this, I for certain have none, 100+ fold..
He was only 54. I miss him a lot.
Respect.
FYI there's a "Pete Huttlinger Appreciation Society" group page on facebook to commemorate all things Pete. Everyone is welcome :)
Wow! This guy is amazing! I didn't even know reversed organs was a thing, how bizarre and awesome that he was still alive after all that.
I hope you get better Peter
name of this song? really amazing
The first song is "Trouble's A'Brewin'" and the second is "Ashes to Ashes". They may be found on the Macguire's Landing album.
What if you live alone and major stroke happens?
I feel your question is a hypothetical one...but if you survived your best friends most likely would be cucumbers, squash and and multitude of other veggies. Thank God Erin was there to get him immediate medical help.
Cucumbers and squash may be fruits...but you get my point
what tuning is this?
Pete is in DADGAD
Amazing story and a fantastic player! This video is a gift.
Bless you guys. What is the name of the tune you are playing?
