- PWD531, or Barclay 1749, is the smallest Steam ex-NZR Locomotive in New Zealand. The Locomotive was built in 1921 for the Public Works Department hence the classification PWD (Public Works Department). It was used to help construct the now mothballed Stratford to Okahukura Line.
Now under ownership by the Silverstream Railway in the Hutt Valley, Wellington, it is the smallest surviving Ex-NZR Steam Locomotive in NZ.
The Railway were doing an overhaul to their passing Loop so they can't run around meaning they have to use the PWD and the L Wagon. The Loop is due to be finished in a month.
