- Homeowners across the Las Vegas valley are speaking out about what they describe as high Southwest Gas bills. On Tuesday, Deborah Gaeding made her voice heard at the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada meeting. She shared that she understood increases happen, but wanted justification for the amount and severity of the rate hike.
It’s ridiculous! Our rates are skyrocketing while the executives line their pockets
Woe to those living in this corrupted state, car insurance, natural gas, unconstitutional laws, and the lowest wages in the country.
I used to keep my thermostat at 74 is now at 70
Even at 70 it was way too expensive.
I've had at 65 since November, yet bills went from $48 in December to $186 January. They're screwing with us, but we can't do anything about it.
Vegas soon going to be California prices pretty soon !
They already are, car insurance in Nevada is super high its been for decades. The desert is not worth what California land is worth. The wages in this state are garbage. Water hikes incoming, groceries will jump again, this state is a hot dry mess.
Well they need to come with California jobs.
You price gauges homes rents groceries gasoline water ( do to lithium but you blamed California as a water hog when it’s you and golf courses and lithium plants) California gave you more water for 3, years. Now it’s gas and every 3, months you raise the price for profit all these restaurants will go broke and out of business. These gauges are unreal and Nevada ain’t doing sh*t to fix anything. Wait till you see the surprise incoming? How about that car insurance? It’s like everyone has a mafia monopoly from rents to groceries and now natural gas and electricity ~ they don’t pay people enough though…..
For those profiting from all the poor people, especially from the seniors. My god take everything you have that was given to you. What was given to all these greedy people can easily be taken back. It is only a matter of time. Father please 🙏🏼
Well, of course the few guys at the top of that private corporation are padding their pockets. Aren't monopolies great?
Who appoints PUCN members? There is your answer.
It would be nice if we could have a daily breakdown of how much gas we are using and what the predicted bill would be with our current usage throughout the month instead of getting bent over when the bill is due.
How about we compare Jan23 to Jan 24. Not much info in this report except it shows the seasonal usage fluctuation. The combination on lowering the tier and raising the rate a bit can make a huge difference in cost even if usage is comparable to the previous year. The lady who testified has no knowledge except the total cost, she was on a balanced payment plan and it is a big mistake to go off it when your bill is high.
I did not know there was a meeting! We are not notified! There were probably 10 whole people there!
FJB!
Southwest Gas is not truthful in their reply and statements regarding charging higher fees. Natural gas prices have dropped consistently by now 84% since the high in August 2022 from over $10 to now $1.60's as of today (Feb.14, 2024). It seems they have overcharged Nevadans by several hundred million $$$ (!!!) over the past year(s).
It's pure greed and taking advantage of their customers with their monopoly (which shouldn't even exist). If they're unable to make proper natural gas purchases, then management and/or their gas traders/buyers need to be replaced. Southwest Gas MUST repay customers and lower their bills by at least 80%.
My bill was $29 for the longest and now it's around $117 and I am single and never cook, that's the funny part.
They want another 10%? They are biting off the hands (consumers) who feed them? They need to cut the fat and lay off the very people who are asking us, the public, to fork out more to support them.
January 6th was actually a good thing. The appropriate action needs to take place.
Hey SW Gas don’t California/ Gavin Newsome my gas bill.
How about we all revisit January 6th. That seems to be the only solution.
So basically we are bring screwed and there is nothing we can do about it. My bill last year at this time was $300, this month is was $540. My husband and I are living without heat at this point because we can't afford this anymore.
