A lot of memories from this album, I drove my brother to school every day my senior year of high school, we would jam out to this record all the time. Hearing these alternate versions is beyond cool.
Great sounding versions of some great songs! I love this album, I truly do. I have been a fan of it for 41 years now. Can't wait to play this a few times!
I remember traveling with my family from our small town to the mall in a city 30 miles away. I had saved my allowance and yard-mowing money to buy the album on cassette. I had brought my walkman along and my parents let me play some of the songs on the way home. We were all a bit surprised (me, happily) when Robin declared he wants to see the t*ts on every girl. I was 12 or 13 at the time. Good memories from this album. Thanks for your time.
Great glimpse behind the "Next Position Please" curtain, pre Todd Rundgren production and final arrangements. I LOVE these alternate versions. Now, even though I love the NPP album, playing it to death when it was new, and even just played it twice last month, I always wanted a heavier guitar remix re-issue of the album. I am sure the others here would agree!
Borderline. One of my favorites. The one live on Alan Thicke on YT is great. this one is quite nice as well... Thank you so much for more demos... Love demos.
That is a great version indeed. Although I can´t help but thinking that it isn´t completely live. Arrangement is different. But it looks like there´a back-up vocal track running.
Wondering if you ever played any of these songs at the Great Illinois Purchase in Rockford. Myself and other Guilford HS friends frequented the Purchase as minors. I remember your band played there in the 70's.
Interesting. Doesnt seem like todd needed to do much to the NPP tunes heard here. All u guys er todd tweaked were the chorus in love here and the be my baby beat in YOY. Todds production is very close to Wermans In Color. NPP is a band at the height of its songwriting power,
I think the songwriting on NPP was top notch. Unfortunately I wasn’t never a big fan of Rundgrens production style. It was miles away from the style of the debut album. The version of Borderline on the Alan Thicke show was much heavier. She have done the song in the studio in that same style

this recording has a "warm" feel to it that I can't explain. some recordings have it, others don't. just love it!
First time I ever saw Cheap Trick live was on this tour. I was hooked. They've been my favorite ever since.

Great versions. So clean before the production effects

Agree!
Next Position Please is in my top five CT albums of all time. Underrated, and let’s face it, Epic dropped the ball big time.

Thanks as ever Bun, great sound quality for demos. Good strong songs too.

CTs Alan Thicke performance was legendary. Rick in the sleeveless shirt! I still have it on VCR tape somewhere😂

Thanks Bun for sharing these demo gems with us! Wish you were behind the drum kit with the fellows still--it's just not the same without you.
Wow, you really see the high quality of songwriting with these versions. Thanks so much for posting.
Thanks Bun E👍🏻
this is so fucking good. some of the best rock demos I have ever listened to!
Thanks Bun. Hope all is well with you.
The first two were really great
Thank you as always Bun. Historic stuff and really appreciate the effort.
Thank you!!
thanks for the upload.
any chance we can get the We'll Still Be Hangin' On demo uploaded? one of my fav demos, and it's hard to find now.
I’d like to hear some stripped down tracks from In Color, love Cheap Trick!
Love the song selection! Thank you! Do you have the Rockpalast NPP show you could post here?

Probably no tunes here performed at The Purchase.
