Man, how friggen cool is it that someone can make random videos about their vehicles and turn that hobby into such a life changing endeavour. Congrats man
Your dad is so awesome ! It explains why you’re the man you are today. Would love to see an episode where you interview him and he talks about his life and upbringing.
One thing that is the best fill is flyash, I used in my shop 26 years ago , and used 5,600 psi concrete, 24x36 pad, no expansion joints cut, and still no cracks in floor had 3/4 and 1 ton trucks on it regularly power trawling so super smooth floor, so floor Jack can push trucks around and creepers run great, flyash is used as underneath the interstates high ways, they used to give it away, now charge for it as great base , it is what is left from coal fired power plants, water runs right through it and doesn’t stick to shoes or tires, I also have clay base here
in 2021 i had a 26x50 shop built. it was 6" concrete, 2x6 construction OSB inside and out, 10 windows, 12' walls. vinyl siding outside and tin on the inside, fully insulated, along with a NG heater. $115K. that was during the OSB shortage with crazy prices. now im kinda glad i didn't wait. good luck buddy, you'll love it when it's done!!
Man I live in a HOA and they can be total a-holes good luck can t wait to see I just bought a 2021 chevy trail boss already put in Rough Country bed cover, bed mat, and brake caliper covers (red) look cool!
Enjoyed this series. One pointer you might want to install a few extra sleeves under the driveway prior to placing concrete. It is super cheap to do and can save a ton in the future. I know I have used the extra sleeves years down the road that I didn't think I needed.
Dude the nabor that you lived by in Hawaii is truly a star his story made me cry. And I’m 42 years young . And congratulations iv been with you since you had 842 followers this is truly remarkable and inspiring to me
If there a time in the future where you have replace or run new water lines under the drive don’t sweat it. For a few hundred bucks or less, a compact horizontal driller can drill under an existing drive and pull the new line for you. I did it myself and it was quick, easy and with virtually no mess to clean up.
This is going to be so much fun!! I've got my pad prepped and just waiting to start drilling my piers for my 60x120x16 shop/man cave!! Your shop is looking amazing!!
No slab treatment? Why only 4 inches? I literally laid out exactly what you should do along with mix design for concrete and this is just not at all what you would do, especially if you are going to have lifts and equipment.
I'd recommend using funny pipe or any flexible pipe when you go under the drive way. PVC is really brittle and rigged, and the dirt around it provides support to prevent it from bursting under pressure. Flexible pipes are more resilient in those situations.
Congrats!!! Looking forward to seeing your dream shop built! I’m in North Texas too and I’m at the beginning stages of planning my workshop build. It will be about 1/2 the size of your shop, but enough room to do some fun work!
Awesome glad you were able to work around the paper work to get it done. I have been working on getting my shop done as well it is a great feeling to see it come tougher. Keep up the great work 👍
Brother, I am so excited and on the edge of my seat to watch this come together. I’m a newer subscriber but am all caught up on the videos. Congratulations on the 100k accomplishment. Congrats on your dream shop and keep up the hard work and quality content. You have one of the best channels out there. I’m so looking forward to seeing this get done
So exciting. Love watching the progress. If I still lived in that area I’d be there helping. Left TX 15 yrs ago. Don’t miss the weather, but miss the people. You’ve came so far with this channel. Way to go. Know I’m wishing I was still there from Reno, NV.
Hey, cool vid, but that material 10:22 is actually called 'shale', not dirt. How do I know? Well, the company I work for uses that material a crap ton for buildings lots it's great for compaction.
I know exactly what you're going through and the excitement you're feeling. I'm one year into building my shop. Just finished painting. Much smaller at 24x30, but still into it for $80K (Canadian).
@@troyqueen9503 No. That was one of the nice to haves that I left out. I would have liked that, a 6" concrete curb under my walls, and 12' walls rather then 10, but it's all $$$. I have the junction box outside for a heat pump.
Just stumbled across your channel and I'm genuinely curious as to how this project goes. Always wanted to build a big shop of my own, unfortunately my current property isn't quite set up for that endeavor. However, I will eventually find myself in your shoes... so it'll be great to have some reference points. Good luck on the build, looking forward to seeing your progress.
Greetings from GA, Congrats on the many well earned victories on the road to building your own shop!!! This video appeared on my recommended page just as I was considering REVISITING the idea of having my own custom shop built in my backyard...I also have challenges just like you, HOA, etc. I look forward to watching the progress as it unfolds.
Congrats. In the middle of same build in Florida sans HOA. 30x50, 6” grade beam foundation like yours. $25k slab and 20x50 apron. Carport style shop 26k.
This is actually crazy! I came back on this channel yesterday for the first time in a while to see if the shop build had started. A day later and this pops up on my main page 🤯
Last time I pulled up irrigation pipe and moved them before building project. I used a pressure washer to cut through the ground. It worked out pretty good
Thanks to that Texas clay soil this is why you need a overkill slab… and that’s why you don’t see basements in Texas… and that’s why there are so many companies in Texas that specialize in leveling up home foundations….. here in Kentucky we form up a 4 “ monolith slab with a little wire and we’re ready to go….. but your slab is a work of beauty before the concrete!!!
Congratulations!!! If you build it yourself it will be less expensive and higher quality!!! The average G.C. costs you an extra 40% but you have to handle all the headaches of construction.
Freaking awesome brother! happy for you! this will be a game changer. Are you running any water and sewer lines? if anything you should plan on placing some PVC electrical conduits incase you ever need to run wires inside the shop.
It’s coming together ! Took a lot of inspiration from your videos and finally uploaded my first one ! 🙏🏽👍🏼 I hope others find confidence and inspiration in your videos as well 👍🏼🙏🏽
Congrats on breaking ground. This will be an amazing shop. I can't wait to see how it turns out. You must be ecstatic seeing this happen in your backyard.
I would have set a spot for 2 lifts just in case in the future, u need a 2nd. It adds very little cost now, but it will be a huge cost in the future if u don't now before the concrete is poured.
Man, how friggen cool is it that someone can make random videos about their vehicles and turn that hobby into such a life changing endeavour. Congrats man
Contrats! Always fun watching someone achieve their dreams. Thanks for taking us along for the ride
Thanks to the fat greedy pig bankers and their rotten system, achieving our dreams in this country is near impossible. What a great system.
Pumped to see this go up! I have one problem though. I'm obsessed with the song at 18:42 -- what is it?
It all starts with a good foundation and that foundation looks well built. Can’t wait to see this shop come together

SHOP BUILD!!! Congrats on getting the next chapter started. Can’t wait to see it finished and how empty your garage is going to be.
Might end up being a basketball court until I can afford to fill it up 😂 we are going to be broke for a while after this project
Completely understand. I’m about to put a 30x40 “shop” in my backyard. The price was eye opening for sure.
Shops are not cheap like they used to be
Man I live in a HOA and they can be total a-holes good luck can t wait to see I just bought a 2021 chevy trail boss already put in Rough Country bed cover, bed mat, and brake caliper covers (red) look cool!
Oh and I live between Waco and Austin!

Congratulations on building your shop. Looking forward to watching your build progress.
So happy for you to see this amazing build starting!
Glad you mentioned about the lift. Congratulations
Dude heck yes! This is awesome so glad to see it started and moving along! Congrats and cant wait to watch the progress!
Thanks for watching!
Congrats on the true start of your dream shop. Look forward to the videos following along.
I'm really confused on why you had to dig out that PVC pipe? I would've just left it in the ground and buried more when the project was over.
You’re off to a good start! Can’t wait to see the progress.
No slab treatment? Why only 4 inches? I literally laid out exactly what you should do along with mix design for concrete and this is just not at all what you would do, especially if you are going to have lifts and equipment.
awsome news! i have been waiting to see work happening on this dream shop of your actually taking shape. can't wait to see the next update!
No 2 post car lift with 4 inch pad, need 6 inch min. Can still use 4 post lift. Looks awesome.
Amazing brother! Can’t wait to see the final project and thanks for giving us the ride along

Looks like you provide a great life for your wife. So nice of her to let you build that on her property.

Yes but Canadian dollars are penny's to the dollar. Like pasaos.
4k pasos make a dollar us.
Did you put radiant heat in your slab ?

If you finish Moloka’i before the 99 Silverado is completed I’m going to need a spot in the shop.
Aloha from South Texas!!! I spent my 20s on Maui.
Congrats on the start of the shop and iam Tongi was my favorite idol this year so cool he was your neighbor

Brings back memories when I had a 20x20 garage/shop with a 6" floor built in 2018. When it was all said and done about $50K.

So excited for you!
I'm so jealous!!!! The overhead view looks great.
Congrats.

Aloha from San Diego! Hope you and the fam are well Chad! This just popped up on my feed, awesome shop! Well done.
Happy for you.. I can learn somethings for you..😊
I found your channel way back in 2017 I think around 1000 subs glad to see how far you have come!

Here we go!

No plumbing? Probably going to at least need water.. put sleeve in for water
super excited for you... can't wait to continue following the progress
Last time I pulled up irrigation pipe and moved them before building project. I used a pressure washer to cut through the ground. It worked out pretty good
I was sick looking at the numbers you got for bids. I can see why after all the foundation work was laid out.
Looking great! I look forward to this project build, congratulations! 👍🏻👍🏻😎

it’s a good look ❤
so excited to see the process and finished result! i know its going to be dope.
You should put your lift to the side to optimize space or two lifts

what about a sink and a bathroom for the side man cave shop.? Also it is a nice garage and more projects can be done now too.
If I put one in, I'd never go back into the house... and my wife would kill me 😅
@@LonestarHawaiian well your still home just not inside the house. Lol she'll understand just get her a car she can work on with you...

Freaking awesome brother! happy for you! this will be a game changer. Are you running any water and sewer lines? if anything you should plan on placing some PVC electrical conduits incase you ever need to run wires inside the shop.
No plans for water in the shop, the hose is right in front of the shop and couldn't afford it with my budget. Just electric for now 🤙🏽

We just got clay 😅 and lots of it
Get it homie! That shop is gonna be badass!
I think you should think about putting a bathroom in there and what about car lifts?
