  • The Oilers played an excellent road game. Dallas is going to have to be better to earn a split in game two.

      I am a Canucks fan and I did not like some of the things I heard from oiler fans however those were in the very small minority. I'm sad we didn't win as if we had I had planned to be at the viewing party for this away game today but hey
      I'm torn on this, I want a Canadian cup yes, but I love Chris Tanev and want him to have success but since I don't like either Florida or the Rangers I'll chear for Florida there because they have 0 cups and I'll chear for whomever comes out of this series to defeat them.

    You must have seen 97's comment on his miss on the empty net in OT? He basically said (notably to TNT, with Gretz/Henrik) four times in a row: "I gotta bury that." In the room after 1OT, he said he literally apologized to the boys saying: "That's brutal. I have to bury that." Sure enough in 2OT, 32 secs in he buries it. And he immediately credits Bouchard for his intelligence.

    • @Peksisarvinen
      @Peksisarvinen 23 дні тому +1

      He was not wrong. He HAS to bury that. ANY hockey player has to bury that. I'd be pissed at my grandmother if she failed to put that in the net. For the team captain and best player in the world, in game 1 OT of the conference finals, it's especially inexcusable. As was the horrendous penalty he took for another idiotic, careless stick infraction, and the numerous bad passes he made during the game.
      I really, really hope that the goal he eventually scored is the start of his redemption arc, but he has been absolutely terrible during the playoffs. I know he's second in points, but he was completely invisible in 5 out of 7 games in the Vancouver series, and had a measly two goals heading into yesterday. And that's not even getting into the innumerable terrible passes, which have to be in the dozens by now across the three series. Or the fact that he was the guy who could've stopped the JT Miller game winner in game 5 I think it was. That is NOT good enough for 12,5 million.
      He is the best player in the world. But the force pushing this team forward has not been him. It's been Draisaitl, Hyman (who willed another terrible pass from McDavid into the net yesterday), Bouchard, Nuge, Ekholm, the PK and so on. Which is good, in the sense that adding the normally dominant McDavid on top of that will make the team unstoppable. But that dominant McDavid has to show up first, and he hasn't so far.

    • @Traumatree
      @Traumatree 23 дні тому +2

      @@Peksisarvinen Relax, the call for high stick was dubious. The other penalty earlier for slashing hit the pads on the leg, not the arm - another bad call. The 4 drop-puck won by Edmonton that we stopped - wtf was that? The slashing on Skinner's head that went unnoticed, etc. McDavid is injusted just like Drais is, but they both carry on. Dallas, on the other hand played quite badly and with all the gifts they got from the NHL, shouldnt be there.

    Special teams. If Dallas had any powerplay luck they might have won in regulation but would have definitely won on the McDavid double but because the oil got their specials cooking they stayed in long enough to win.
    That was fun hockey. So many turnovers. Dallas has some crazy half wall stuff that makes me really scared looking at that slew of snipers they got.

    Ekholm on the other hand actually had the goalie beat when he hit the crossbar. Call me biased if you want but not all posts are equal.
    Those OT power play posts were scary as hell as an oiler fan watching the game, so it was probably crushing to watch from the Dallas fans perspective so I’ll give you the pass here Shannon, but to bring up Draisatl’s quote “posts aren’t good goaltending” is definitely the Vancouver/Dallas fan salt coursing through your veins and coming out in the video haha

    This was a very close game with the Oilers holding on to a 2-1 lead for most of the 2nd and 3rd periods until Seguin tied it up (2nd of the night). Just looking at base stats Oilers had 5 more shots, 4 more hits, won 9 fewer faceoffs, gave up 5 penalties to Dallas's 1 (and that double minor to start the first OT by McDavid needs a stupid sticker on the forehead for a bit, yes, he redeemed himself by scoring the winner 32 seconds into the 2nd OT but still). PK (both teams) 100%. PP (both teams) 0%. If the Oilers could have gotten more calls they may have had more goals but we'll never know. The Oilers had 6 more Giveaways (which is a lot), 4 fewer Takeaways (again, a lot) and 1 fewer blocked shot (24 to 25 for Dallas). Both teams were blocking anything and everything for some time there. I mean I thought the first period might end with Dallas having 3 shots and the Oilers having 1 before things progressed a bit later in the period. This was a great game between two great teams. On this night the Oilers were better and I think Skinner surprised them as to how good he was. Take care all.
