The Forsling contract better be in here lol. Dude is criminally underrated.
FL has a few really nice contracts but yes Forsling might be one of the best bargains in the league.

Reinhart is really the only big piece. He can take less in FL and still make more than other markets. I doubt FL retains him but they won't take too much of a step back and I suspect they will get more pickups like they did this years trade deadline
@@DeedleEdmonds that’s fair not having income tax does help in negotiations but isn’t montour due to be paid as well. I don’t know what his value is but 5-6mill aav for him has been thrown around
I don't think Montour will fetch more than 5. Reinhart will likely be the big loss and it would be dumb for FL to overpay him.
If it was just for this past season, the Kane contract on Detroit was crazy value. They'll be kicking themselves for not making more hay in that season esp while they had Ray and Seider still cheap. Those couple Larkin injuries were brutally timed.
Mike matheson for the habs at 4,8m for a 60 points defensemen that eats a lot of minutes is awesome
Except Matheson is a turnover machine, so no, not a bargain.

Panthers have so many good contracts, you know it's crazy when I wasn't even certain Forsling was gonna be the choice with that incredible contract, when you've also got Verhaeghe who is on a better contract than most guys on here.
They are great contracts but sometimes if a contract is too great (for the team) it's 'great' enough that it creates a potential holdout situation bc guys don't like to be ripped off and be studs in their prime making no money.
Maybe the players have seen where they were before FL, not just Gustov, and what happens when they go away for money. Huber(115 points to 60 and no playoffs), Gudas no playoffs, Vatrano, no playoffs, Duclair no playoffs until trade, Weegar, no playoffs. Tippet, no playoffs. Dreiger, no playoffs. Wennberg, no playoffs until trade. Giroux, no playoffs. Marchment in, Trochek in. More likely to miss the playoffs. Money or playoffs/winning/cups?
@@jimmyzarkis6276 Money is literally what you live on. It's much more important than anything until you reach a base level of it and have security. Every good player wants to get highly paid at least once.
@@paulwt9783 what I am saying, making 4 million to win, or 5 million to lose per year. Is it worth it? Now if you say 5 million to stay or 13 million on a bad team, hard to say i want to take less to keep winning.

Nick Suzuki is still underrated.
I'm glad you mentioned his 200' game and how everyone around him is better. Hes also become a great Captain/Leader.
Not a Canadians fan, but they are one of the most interesting system's from top to bottom. I don't think they are too far off from being a contender.
Caps fan - Strome is getting better every year. His 200' game was better, faceoff % better. I think hes a PPG player next season.

Bouchard aswell. Edmonton may be paying too much for nurse but those 3 make up for it

Forsling is legit one of the most underrated players in the league. Super solid, dependable, smart dman in every situation on the ice. Not to mention that +56!
For the Canes i wouldve put Slavin, 5 mill for the best shut defenseman in the league? Thats a steal and a half of a contract

I was laughing to myself at the start of the video knowing there is no good one, just waiting to see .. meanwhile there's 2 of the best FA signings that were guys leafs let walk (Hyman) or who didn't wanna resign (O'Reilly). Dubas ruined this team, Tavares signing, led to butchering the core guys contracts. Then letting Hyman go, keeping holl over McCann, verhaege, Marchmont (for malgin), Kadri trade.. the list goes on. He lost every move and signing as a GM. Then proved his worth with Karlsson in Pittsburgh. How does this guy have a job as GM still?

I sincerely don't feel Treliving's doing a better job, at least under Dubas last term the defense was starting to look like a somewhat functioning unit with guys like Schenn, Treliving put that to the bin and hired a Klingberg, which is basically a second shelf Karlsson who does not cost as much but is even less useful when it comes to the far fetched idea of defending anything...
@lauig as a Leafs fan Tre has done some great singings with Benoit and McMann so far. He only just got with the club too, I wouldn't write him off yet. We'll see what he does this off season.
You can make the case that Igor Shesterkin has the best contract on the Rangers especially with how he performs in the playoffs despite the rest of the team

Draisatl, Hyman and Bouchard’s deals are up there league wide.
Any of Tuch, Dobson and O’Reilly to complete the top5.
Every other players mentioned here didn’t outperform their contracts or expectations enough.

Why? Slavin only has a year left while Staal finished second in Selke voting and has a few years at 2.9. Very debatable.

I'm just glad Jason Robertson didn't demand more. It was all the Stars had free after signing Otter to a bridge. Finished 14th in the Selke as a winger. Underrated and getting better

I don't know much about the other teams, but I think Draisaitl is the Oilers' best contract at only $8.5 M for a guy continually ranked in the top 5 in the league.
Love to see Pavel Zacha on that list, I feel like we are going to see the good Czech players explode next season, after all that energy and confidence they got from winning the WC. Now they crossed that part of their career list they will go hunting for that Cup. Boston should sign Nečas for similar reasons, only 25, great in this year's play offs and he showed his leadership at that WC for us.

Nailed the Wild’s best contract with EK. He is a player every team would take in a heartbeat. Brodin would be #2.

Arizona? I like Macelli. 49 in 64 two years ago and 57 in 82 this year with two years at $3.425 Million left. 23 so lots of potential growth left.
Boston- Morgan Geekie for half the money has almost the same offense while not playing on the first line. Bargain.
Buffalo Still Tuch two years at $4.75 . Took a step back but....
Calgary - Rasmus Andersson the best number one defenseman that nobody knows for two more years at $4.55 a year.
Carolina - Slavvin, another top notch number one dman for $5.3 million
Chicago - Phillipp Kurashev Their defense has been terrible.
Colorado- I just don't know. I guess Georgiev for the minutes he has played.
Columbus - Boone Jenner
Dallas- Marchment
Detroit- Jake wallman?
Edmonton- Ryan Nugent Hopkins
Florida- Verhaeghe or Forsling , yeah he's great too
LA- still danault
Minnesota- ericksson-Ek??
Montreal- Matheson or Montembault
Nashville- I like O'Reilly
New Jersey- It was John Marino It is Jack Hughes

St Louis- Buchnevich??
Tampa Bay- Hedman at $7.875 Hagel is over-rated.
Toronto- Jarnkrok or McCabe
Utah - Ingram is a good choice too.
Vancouver Demko for 5$
Vegas Shea Theodore 5.2 million
Washington- Charlie Lindgren only reason they made the playoffs.
Winnipeg - Niederreiter-- Oh Yeah Morrissey is a great choice.

Glad to see the Jake Walman love. Why he was scratched near the end of the season is baffling and (along with the Wings missing the playoffs with this much talent) makes me think that Yzerman should have replaced the coaching staff. If not the full staff, at least Bob Boughner.

trouble w that is he was part of a 3 goalie group where Husso and Reimer ahead of him were making $7 mil combined. goalies fair or not always feel like a position where you budget them all very much together so the Wings were paying 8 mil for their goalies, which is not horrible but is not a steal.

How is Johnston not the best contracts on Dallas,
Robertson put up 15 more points but is paid 7x+ as much. Johnston really broke out in the 2H and should be close to a point per game player in 2024-25 season.
