When I started the main Hegelburg album I had a planning sheet with ideas. Which tracks and styles could be done, and where would they fit in the world? A few of the items in the list never made it, though. Some simply didn’t fit the mood and for some I was lacking the skills or right tools. That’s how the idea came up to make a few shorter extensions on Hegelburg with different light settings and atmospheres.
Hegelburg at Dusk is the first one, exploring influences of Medieval and Renaissance Music. This aspect surely came a bit short on the main album and after I upgraded my software instrument collection I headed for at least 30 minutes of playtime. Overall this style is rather new territory for me. I listened to hours of Lute music, Medieval classics and anything close to the genre to get the right inspiration, but mixed it with some orchestral flavour here and there. After all, I still wanted it to be Fantasy Music.
For the visuals, I changed a few parameters on the sky and looked for interesting angles on the setting sun. Having the complete city built already didn’t require many modifications.
So sit back and visit once more the city of Hegelburg, the solitary city in the East. Hope you enjoy the journey!
This is such an amazing collection of artwork you have here. I'm a part time DM for dnd and half-decent musician, occasionally writing my own music for DnD things. Im just so blown away by the sheer skill you've shown here in your vids, I wish I had the talent you do :)
God I LOVE the Hegelburg series. I've watched and listened each of these videos probably close to a hundred times each. ASKII you've tapped into something unique that takes a person from a hectic modern city life to a simpler time. Looking at one of these videos for a moment completely immerses me and I forget real life for a moment. No stress or hurry, just amazing music and the streets of Hegelburg.
Thank you so much! What you write is exactly what I wanted to achieve, so it makes me really happy to read that!
"Hail young traveller. What brings you here, to the Golden Sun Tavern?"
This is excellent, I took a bath with the album playing, I felt like Geralt in his bathtub at the beginning of Witcher 3 xD (Bring the Ale! is my new favorite song to dance to)
Thank you very much :D The Witcher 3 has been an inspiration for sure, such a great game.
This has played in the back of my dnd games for years now and I thank you for this great song.
Glad to read that, thank you! :)
You've transported me to another world with you amazing music. Thank you ASKII🌹
Happy to hear that! Thanks for listening to my music :)
your videos are saving my life
This is amazing! I hope your channel gains huge traction because it definitely deserves it.
It's like I am playing Elder Scrolls again, only it's gotten better somehow. Job well done!
PS: Will totally play these at my home games!
Thank you so much! :)
People like you make the world a better place
Thank you! 🙂

Thank you so much! 🙂
Love this.
Thanks! :)
Great job! Besides the music, I really love the attention to detail you showed in the field recordings/nature samples.
Thank you very much! With the ambience it's all or nothing to make it sound believable and consistent. Glad you noticed it! :)
ASKII it’s a very important, often overlooked piece. Wish I had your talent for it. Keep it up!
I absolutely love these !!! I know it's a lot of work and it's a bit selfish of me to say this but keep making awesome music
Thank you very much! :) I'm working on more!
You are the best, respect!
I appreciate that, thank you!
The city looks like "Paradise Village" on the anime Attack on Titan. LMAO
Feast is an excellent piece! Very energetic with lots of strong moments! Well done again ASKII. Your Hegelburg compositions are excellent!
Thank you so much, Michael, I'm glad you are enjoying it!
ASKII would you allow for me to use the Hegelburg, and Dungeons ambience for my D&D Campaign?
@@michaelmorris739 Sure! :) Always glad when my music is used in sessions. Little credit note and link to my Bandcamp would be nice.
ASKII absolutely! Thank you very much, it’ll be fun to show the party members your work.
Impressive. Very nice. (It’s brilliant, you’re god!)
Wow, thanks! 😃
ahhh this is better that the other video hegelburg
It's a bit different, more atmospheric and colored. :) Thank you!
Obscura 2 request. Pretty please .
I'm not sure if there will be a second part of Obscura in the foreseeable future. But I have something similarly dark in mind that will at least match Obscura in terms of intensity and atmosphere. Not this year, though.
Your music is awesome, but the videos are what differentiate you from the others. As a GM, I was able to utilize the few 1 hour videos you have to immerse my players like never before. With this video (and hopefully a few others), I think I can create my version of Hegelburg as a hub for a few adventures.
I realize that creating such videos can be incredibly time-consuming, so I hope you can find a way to produce this level of immersion at a larger scale, so that the videos can be used as background for encounters. Things that come to mind:
- City square at night, for a combat encounter
- City square during a festival, for a RP encounter
- Main street at night for a series of house-to-house heists, while the guards and the occasional drunk walk through the street
- View of the city from a mountain road where an ambush can be set (by the players or the enemy)
- View of the city from a ship, day or night, where the players guard or infiltrate the ship
and so on and so on :)
All in all, the static cams, maybe with a few different views of the same general area can be truly beneficial for any D&D session. For example, while on the ship look to one side, walk to the other every 10 minutes or while on the square look at the scene from its four corners.
Suffice to say, your work is awesome, both music and video. The attention to detail and quality is sublime.
Hi Nikola, thank you so much for that valueable input! :) What you suggest sounds really interesting. How would you imagine a scene in terms of length and diversity of music? I have the world built, so changing the light and moving the camera is done fairly quick. Composing music takes a while, though. Right now I'm rendering different scenes for the 9 single tracks of the album, but they will all have only their 3-4 minutes of playtime. I'm wondering if I could implement your suggestion here already.
@@askiimusic Honestly, compiling what you already have with maybe a bit of additional melodies to tie everything up nicely seems quite enough. Regarding the length, I'd say that 20 minutes might be sufficient, but maybe look to tie the begining and end nicely so that it can be put on loop. Everything over that is more than welcome, but requires of course more effort. I can't really comment on the diversity of music. My guess is that anything following a similar rhythm will provide a nice ambience while not being distracting.
Thanks for hearing me out! I look forward to future releases :)
I think now I have an understanding to what you are looking for, thanks! :) For now, I'd add it to the list of ideas, which is, unfortunately, way too long already. But I could imagine doing this kind of content when I went through all the "standard" scenarios and have a bigger music catalog to pick from.
Right now, next to rendering more scenes for Dusk, I'm working on Hegelburg at Night, around 40 minutes long. If nothing happens, coming in Summer. After that, I really want to get my hands on overworld exploration scenarios. In my concept so far, it will end up with three albums... Wish I'd have a bit more time to work on this, maybe I can do it for a living one day.
Have a great day!
love it.. thank you •*´¨`
Glad to read that! :)
I still dont really understand what this hegelburg is? a fantasy hub for your music? Anyways your music stands out from the rest, its all I could wish for and more, fantastic :) Glad I found you
It's a fantasy city I built in Unreal engine to have some images to score music to, and to make it more immersive for the viewers. Glad you like my music, means a lot :)
@@askiimusic Ah thats what I thought, yes Ive been on a roll the whole night now. It has all the vibes I love, like the witcher, skyrim, Kingdom come, and a beautiful rich sound to all of them. I'm hooked! Keep it up and thank you for all your current works.
@@karelleet Working on a new scenario now. Only takes a lot of time to make these. So, I'm glad about your great feedback, thank you!
A better version of stormwind 😅
@ASKII All I can say is this is just amazing very beautiful music.
But also I would like to ask you if it is possible that I could use it for a project I'm working I would give all the credit and links to your channel.
I will understand if you don't want to but I thought I should ask thats all.
Thank you very much! :) You can use my music in your projects, I always encourage that! Little credit note and a link to my Bandcamp profile would be nice. Feel free to drop me a link if there's something to see in the end, I sometimes share those on social. Cheers!
@ASKII
Well that is fantastic I’m glad to hear that. Also of course I will make sure to leave links to both of them.
Where did you make it? was it in Talespire?
I built it myself in Unreal Engine 4 with marketplace assets :)
is there a version of this without the background noise?
This really is great btw.
Thank you very much! :) You can find the music for listening on Bandcamp, just follow the download link in the video description. Or directly on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/play/OLAK5uy_mkxxGC1ExZ4Vh5RoMb_nYGqe1QDc1CsC0.html
Hach, wäre ich doch nur ein reicher, exzentrischer Feudalherr. Ich wüsste wen ich als Hofkomponisten bestellen würde
Ich fühle mich geehrt, eure Hoheit! *verbeugt sich tief* :D
what game?
No actual game, I built that myself in Unreal Engine 4 and use the visuals for my own music albums. There's another video with it on my channel, "Hegelburg" :)
