The cold of the north and snow landscapes have always fascinated me. They are one of the places where beauty, peace and death lie incredibly close together. That combined with mountains and glaciers provide a whole world full of stories to tell. The release announcement of “Icewind Dale and the Rime of the Frost Maiden” was the spark that brought Isverden to life. Translated into “Ice World” from Norwegian, the initial idea was to create a winter world that shows the darker, more relentless side of it. Creating Isverden took a full year of work. The first concept plan was to have a mountain valley with a forest as the main feature and a glacier at the end as the finale. While getting inspired on Artstation I stumbled over many great images that inspired me to include more features like glacier crevasses, snow caves and a buried dungeon, going darker with the music style than initially anticipated. That’s why it starts with peaceful and calm music and ends with dark ambient. I am concerned that it’s too inconsistent with the mood altering over time, but it was a conscious creative decision in order to have the story told. I will see if I optimize future concepts to be more consistent again. Creating the world with Unreal Engine 4 was really fun this time. I dug a bit deeper with material shaders to make what I was looking for and I’m glad I managed to succeed with the snow shader. Overall I’m happy with how it turned out visually. So, get a cup of tea (...and warm clothes), lean back and enjoy the journey of Isverden. I hope you like it! Thanks for passing by 😃 Cheers Erik (ASKII)
Any chances for the ambience version to be included on Bandcamp, like with the Hegelburg albums? On that note, thank you for your creations - Tamriel Rebuilt, the Hegelburg series and Isverden are great albums.
UGH! I LOVE the alpine... I wish I can live out there. A nice cottage or cabin. But sadly I'm a city boy. Stuck here in the suburbs. But I digress... Have a good night, and may Odin give you strength and protection.
Thank you! :) While living in a remote cabin may not be so easy to achieve, nature still offers places of solitude and peace away from the noise of civilization if you look at the right places at the right time. I hope you'll be able to find them! :)
Has to be one of the most gorgeous things on youtube... I'm writing a fantasy novel that mostly takes place in a wintery kingdom, this helps so much with writing it! Even the visuals!
Extremely well made, the visuals and music just blend perfectly together. I don't know if you ever played Skyrim, ASKII, but a quest from the Dawnguard DLC ''Forgotten Vale'' instantly comes to mind here, with the intermittent ice caves and open mountain areas. Very transportative, immersive and beautiful. Congratulations!
its just PERFECT for my Icewind Dale campaigne! I often listen this whole album in my freetime, the best snowy artistic atmosphere in the entire universe!!! As a professional, graduated musician I can say you are a genious:)
me halfway through the video: this has been really pleasant, i feel very calm vibes me when we encounter a bunch of frozen people impaled on ice stakes: ok that's concerning
i love the feeling of winter and snow. vast and endless looking fields of snow with barren trees scattered across the land, the ethereal beauty of a pure-white blanket thrown other the earth trudging through the snow in thick and heavy boots, with your legs aching more and more with each step, rasped breathing with a cold and dry throat you can feel cracking as cold air fills your lungs everything about winter is so beautiful, majestic, ethereal. even the animals are majestic. you could be dying in the snow, but the frosty ambience would relax you as it soaks up your blood, the infinitely-falling snowflakes giving you a chilly burial. i would want nothing more but to spend my last moments dying on a bed of snow. truly a winter expanse this playlist just makes it better, the high-pitched and clean tones of each song, even in some the dark and low aspects that make you feel the underbelly and dark aspects of "winter." i love it so much
I live in Juneau, Alaska, and visited an ice cave of our Mendenhall Glacier in 2017. This animation is very realistic inside the ice cave with its brilliant blue ice. Well done. I've subscribed.
So beautiful, you have such a wonderful way of composing music, always calms me down and takes me to a better place, thank you once again for another masterpiece
I'm subscribe in your channel, I love your music, masterpiece, espiritual,genius..... And its beautiful to look at it.... Thank you for this beauty!!!!
I have been waiting for this since a long time: a new immersive music video of ASKII. Thank you so much my friend for producing these masterpieces. I bought the album on Bandcamp without any hesitation because you deserve it so much! Now let me grab a book and enjoy the athmosphere you created.
I've subscribed to you. I'd listen to this kind of music all day, and I am looking forward to your future works. - This one reminded me of Skyrim, especially the Eternal Ice, reminded me of the Falmer and Dwemer ruins, Winterhold and those kind of places.
Thank you Erik. I'm going to use this for my upcoming campaign. It's set in the far north. If you have any other music you would recommend that fits that setting please let me know.
Bro, how good does this mix look. I can't wait to get to work on my next piece and listen to this mix in the background to see what it transmits to me, so far from what little I've been able to listen to, it seems to be beautiful. Thank you very much Erik.
Got to listen in full on Spotify while at work finally. This was amazingly well done! Also really likes how it transitions into darker ambient songs later on, really helps tell the story behind it. Very nicely done!
This is beautiful! It looks just like Rexharia, which is a Nordic country I created. It was named after singer Bebe Rexha, if you have heard of her. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
This is magnificent!! So very beautiful, thank you for your tireless work and effort in creating this :) It is a joy to listen to such creative musical wonder, and the landscape matched the music perfectly.
Man I really love these kinda vids. They remind me of the Elder Scrols music & ambience vids, but with original content. I'd love to hire someone to create a video background like this or Hegelbug for me & sync it up to a compilation.
@@askiimusic If I had to pick just 1 thing I'd say blonde elf girls in shiny purple armor. They make up a special kind of paladins in my world, and they'd probably fit better than kitsune, tengu, etc.
Am I wrong or there is a strong influence from Skyrim in your work ? Jeremy Soule's music and Skyrim's scenarios If not, well, I can say you are reaching there, which for me is amazing, because since Jeremy left the franchise I was kind of sad I wouldn't listen to his work anymore, but yours sounds alike from time to time and I love it 🙂 💖💖
You are correct! I’ve played The Elder Scrolls games for hundreds of hours, that certainly left a mark. I also love the music of the franchise and found that there isn’t too much else going into that direction. Thank you for your comment! :)
@@askiimusic Sadly since that mean and dirty betrayal to Jeremy, Bethesda (which now is under Microsoft) decided to "let him go" so we won't enjoy his music anymore 😞 I don't know how will be ESOS6 but...well....music won't be the same Thanks for answering
Thank you! :) There will be one or two addon videos to Isverden. Next is probably something into the direction of meadows, woodlands and mountains. Still trying to figure out the right concept.
Love this, how the hell did you do your wind animations in UE4? They are near perfect, dont look stupid and nice subtle variations in the wind scale, I feel like in UE5 default wind looks a lot goofier now, any secrets?
Though slightly modified and carefully tweaked, I've been using assets from the marketplace. The conifer trees are MAWI. So far, I didn't really check UE5, yet. Currently working on an RPG soundtrack that uses up all my time :)
The whole picture as a whole resembles the journey of an obsessed Seeker, who unraveled in ancient myths and legends the location of a paradise country where mythical demigods lived, and perhaps the ancestors of mankind. And the journey, which promised to bring glory and honor to its discoverer, suddenly turns out to be not at all what he expected to see... Perhaps the author of this masterpiece read the ancient Greek legend about the Riphean mountains, beyond which the Hyperboreans lived, and the entrance to their country was protected by griffins...

I may sound stupid but is this CGI or a real video? I am leaning towards CGI but it looks extremely realistic
