To make a night version of Hegelburg crossed my mind even before I thought about Hegelburg at Dusk. The initial idea was not about the music, but about the visuals of the video. How would the city look with a starry sky, moving Auroras and lit street lamps? It was a project I was really looking forward to, also because Ambient Orchestral is the style I enjoy composing most, musically. There’s some mysterious, hard to grasp aspect about the night that I wanted to include in the music, but also a message of peace and rest. In the end, I composed music that helped me calming myself during this turbulent year. I sincerely hope I was able to pass it on to everybody listening to it. The visuals had me worried for a bit and I’m glad I was able to finish them. Not only did I have to abandon features because of bugs in Unreal Engine, also my graphics card was brought to its knees in terms of render time and stability, so I had to upgrade it to something with considerably more memory. On this occasion I also want to say Thank You to everybody who has supported me on Bandcamp and Patreon, without your help this video would not have been possible. It has been more than two years since I started working on Hegelburg. This third adventure is concluding the scenario and looking back I’m incredibly grateful about the way this project took. Now I have a long list of new ideas waiting to be implemented, and till then, sit back and enjoy the night sky of Hegelburg, the lone city in the East.
its absolutely breathtaking. As a fellow artist in music I gotta take my hat off to you- you really managed to fully capture the ethereal, almost enigmatic lull of the night, without it becoming creepy or unsettling. As you said, peaceful yet mysterious. As a fellow musician, I gotta give you a full 10/10 for managing to really bring forth that feeling you were looking for, it absolutely comes through on our end. Really well-made piece and ambience. It's been a joy to experience. Thanks so much for making it for the world.
Used this to great effect during my d&d session. This captures the night ambience perfectly. Just forward enough to be present and impactful, without being jarring or interruptive. Thank you for this, it is a great piece of art.
stunning. I've saved this for emergencies as I use it when I'm having an acute anxiety attack and feel overwhelmed/over-stimulated. makes me feel grounded and at home allowing me to come back to myself. thank you for this wonderful piece of music that's dynamic, precious and magical.
Glad it can help you :) Actually, when composing the music I was also trying to calm down myself with it, so it's great to read I could pass it on! Thank you for your comment!
Masterfully well done, my friend. While I am sure this project was time-consuming and difficult, the escapism and tranquility it offers to the listener are easily obtained. Thank you so very much for this.
Thank you! I created this 4 years ago during the pandemic, also in an attempt to calm myself. It's really great to read it is having that effect on others, too!
This is absolutely wonderful and it helps me ward off panic attacks at night, I'm a little prone to them as I've been very stressed. The ambience and music are just so perfect and thank you so much for this :)
I'm so glad! Actually, when I was building this during the first couple of months of the Covid lockdowns, I was trying to calm down myself with the music I composed for this video. It's great to see that it helps you and many others in the same way! :)
It's like a dream! Day and night I stroll through your beautiful and detailed world of Hegelburg. I am amazed at the buildings, the people, the shining light of the lanterns and the fascinating northern lights in the starry sky. The music you have composed underlines this journey completely and sometimes you catch yourself dreaming of visiting Hegelburg in reality. I can imagine that it takes countless hours of work to complete such a masterpiece. I would still be interested in what is more important to you now, the music you have composed yourself or the fantastic world of Hegelburg. Both are a masterpiece! Thank you for sharing this work with us!
Thank you so much for your comment! :-) It means a lot to read that you noticed all the little details and can experience Hegelburg exactly like I hoped. It's hard to say whether the music or the visuals are more important to me. Though I think I'd see myself as a musician first and only second as an 3D environment artist, it both belongs together as part of the same vision.
I still listen to this masterpiece so many times in the evenings, always gives such great calmness and memories from when it was first uploaded, thanks so much for this beautiful music and ambience askii
Your skill and attention to detail just blow my mind. I keep coming back again and again. I never grow tired of it. How many you tubers hold my attention like that besides you? None
I just want to thank you ASKII, I really fell in love with your music and often times when I feel stressed and want to calm myself or when I just need to draw / 3D model something, I listen to this and the other two versions of Hegelburg you made. It really calms my nerves and is just so beautiful to listen to even after all the times I have already listened to it. I am a still pretty new game artist and I hope one day I can make a fantasy game with music just as beautiful as yours. Oh and with beautiful immersive visuals like your videos too! Thank you for everything you do! P.S.
Another masterpiece of ambiance ! You are a genius my friend. I will be listening to this during the long winter days, seeing the snow fall and reading a good book about medieval times. If I may suggest, your Hegelburg music (and videos to!) are just perfect to read Ken Follet's series of book: "The Pillars of Earth"
I watched the short-lived series "The Pillars of Earth" not too long ago, as I'm a huge fan of Ian McShane, but I didn't like it very much. Of course, I have heard the characters were changed a lot, which pissed off the fans of the novel, so it's not much of a surprise the show failed.
Stunning work as always! I feel the work and compositions you have done for the Hegelburg musical pieces are just magnificent, and this one is exceptional. Ambient orchestral never fails to take you on a journey. The visuals are excellent as well, and work perfectly with the music. Thank you for the incredible journey of Hegelburg, it will always be a favourite!
Beautiful--and very relaxing! I was so soothed that I came close to dozing off a few times. I love the level of detail, right down to the beveled lead glass in the windows. Excellent touch!
I searched months for a music like jesper kyd for AC (florence and venice) you have done such a great work, I'll add immediately on spotify. This sends me on another world, an idealistic reality, only jesper kyd did it till now to me. Thank you❤️
Congratulations man. This is an astonishing work of art! Sublime. Thank you dearly, and keep up the incredible work :) I would love to know how you compose this kind of music too, it's something very special. Perfect mix of adventure and ambience. I'm intrigued! What is your process?
Thank you very much! To make this kind of music I always need inspiration first. I usually try to have a preview of the visuals ready early on to have some idea about the atmosphere. Then I think about style and instrumentation, gather ideas by listening to music that inspires me. While composing the first two or three tracks right away like this, I simultaniously create a list of different ideas or features for further pieces of the album (in case of Hegelburg at Night it was like "track with a Flute quartet", or "Guitar lullaby with viking influences"). Then I basically score that to picture using my orchestra template and new music libraries I accquire on the way. I think it's all about a clear understanding of the message a composer wants to deliver. Hope that gives you a bit of insight :)
Nice to see you're surviving 2020. I like how you find time to read and respond to almost all of the comments on your videos, despite their numbers. May I make a suggestion? Collaborating with other artists could go very well. In particular, I suggest Theophany. You excel at ambience and quiet music, while he does great with more musical songs. I would love to see what would come of a collaboration. Mixing the background ambience of your music with the storytelling songs of Theophany would be incredible.
Hi Owen, appreciate the suggestion! Collaborating with other artists and creators is a really great idea, will definately keep that in mind. Theophany makes really great music, that's be a combination to consider for sure. I'll have to add it to the way too long list of projects I want to do - I hope that at some point I can work full time on music. :) Thanks for the comment!

Hey! Just finished your Far East EP with Celestial Aeon Project. Excellent, as always. Well done indeed. Question, though. Is that going to be posted on your UA-cam channel? It's just so much easier to listen to music on UA-cam when you're working at the computer.
Thank you very much! :) Eventually my four tracks (Far East, Dragon Adventures, Zen, Serenity) will be added to my channel as well, after I published the Hegelburg single videos. Obscura has 5000+ likes, this one 361 including mine. How come? It's a very nice piece of art work.
