      Nope, totally misses the mark. A solar generator can do more than that, for instance a Bluetti AC200MAX has a 2.2-kilowatt inverter with 4.4kw surge, pass thru charging and 900-watts solar input. The AC200MAX battery is a 2-kwh Lithium Iron Phosphate with 3500 charge cycles to 80% and the ability to add up to 6kwh. The cost is $1800 for the AC200MAX. The Milwaukee uses Lithium ion (M18) batteries with a 350-cycle life and if you buy 4 12-ah batteries at $250 (a great deal) - that is still $1000 dollars just for batteries. That battery capacity is only 48-amp hours or 800-watt hours. The inverter is $700 for a total cost of $1700 with batteries, a hundred less than the bigger solar generator. The AC200MAX will last 10 times longer than the Milwaukee batteries, has more outlets (AC and DC) and is a little bigger than the Milwaukee power supply.

      We could us it, we have a animal rescue military boarding home during deployment off grid at high altitude CO. We have solar and wind that powers the cabins and main kennels. However having a power supply like this could be extremely useful when working on different parts of the 6 acre😂 rescue and buildings. Also would be extremely useful in the mines we take veterans panning and mining for PTSD relief, and no gasses to kill you, we can run better equipment. Great video thank you for sharing. 🇺🇸

    Just buy an EcoFlow Delta 2. It recharges in under an hour, has 1000wh of energy available compared to the 860 you get from the M18 Power Supply and you don’t have to worry about needing 4 12ah batteries to run it well. It also has solar charging available or 12v charging. This thing is overpriced at $700…. It’s worth maybe $400. And I’m heavily invested in Milwaukee. It’s also stupidly large for what it is.

    See this is a tool that you would want to wait a few months to purchase if possible. Just like so many other Milwaukee Tools when releasing a new tool shortly after Milwaukee releases the same tool but will improve the issues. For example when Milwaukee came out with the weed wacker shortly after they came out with a updated version that you could change out the heads and have a extension pole for cutting tree branches or a attachment for sweeping construction debris etc. I would almost guarantee Milwaukee comes out with another generator that rapid charges all four batteries at the same time and this will always happen.💯🙏🇺🇸

    I will definitely be picking this up for both off grid tool usage and emergency backups. I have 10+ M18s, but only up to the 8A versions. If you compare this to other battery "generators" (I loathe that term), it is just a little more expensive for the initial investment. However even with the $899 power supply, once it's battery is depleted, that is all it can do. By keeping my M18s charged, I can swap them out for a longer overall run time. I also have some solar charging capacity that might be able to keep batteries charged for continuous rotation in case of longer term power outages. Honestly, for running tools, I expect this to keep running longer than I want to keep working. I really wish the MX batteries/power supply wasn't 3-4x more expensive. I just couldn't justify that one.

    I wouldn't mind one of these, and the price isn't too crazy. I have something like 14 or 15 batteries, though only 1 is a 12.0. I just acquired 2 more 5.0 batteries recently with that kit that Home Depot was selling. 2 5.0 batteries and a dual-charger for $199. And it's a simultaneous charger, charging both batteries at once. Much better than their 6-bay charger, that charges the batteries one at a time :P

    This is a fantastic choice for those already with m18 bat trees, especially the 12ah. But for those without, I'd recommend a solar generator instead. At an msrp of $1700 with 4x12ah there are many solar generator options to suit your needs. And they will run devices while charging, that's a big fail IMHO on the Milwaukee. However you can replace the batt trees as needed on the Milwaukee, where as a solar generator when you reach the battery life cycles, it's kaput.

      12 amp hour battery is 216 watt hours 12x18
      Times four batteries is 864 let’s round down to 850 for efficiency losses.
      Fridge when running around 220w, on the high end. When considering the door will remain closed over night the fridge will not always been running. Multiple videos on UA-cam have shown watt usage of refrigerators both old and new. Some showing usage around 60 watts an hour
      850/60 is 14 hours. Now let’s say this is all best case here and we look at worst case and the fridge took 220 watts an hour which would be running non stop like you left the door open. We are still just shy of 4 hours of use and CDC says the refrigerator contents are good for another 4 hours. Freezer contents even longer. Therefore during emergency use this is a good use of power. Not to mention we are assuming the user has no other batteries which is unlikely if they choose to buy this brand of inverter.

    Wonder how long g it would keep the fridge running before the batteries ran out

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521 Рік тому

      It would probably depend on a few things. Most importantly how much power the fridge draws the size and age of the fridge would probably make a big difference. How much the fridge is opened will have a big impact on the amount of time too, because the fridge will have to run more to keep the set temp if it’s being opened a lot. The efficiency of the inverter will have a bit of an impact. Of course the size of the batteries will matter too. You could get a rough estimate how long it will run something by taking the smallest amp hour battery you have in the machine and multiply by 72 (because the batteries are 18v nominal, but you have 4 of them). So let’s say your smallest battery is 5ah that’s 360 usable watt hours. I’d take a little off that for efficiency losses and more if your batteries are old and don’t last as long as they did when they were new. Let’s say you take 10% off that total. That would leave you with 324 hours. If you have a little fridge or cooler that only takes 50 watts, you should be able to run it over 6 hours, but if you try to run that big fridge in the video, that thing might consume 300 watts and may only run it for a bit over an hour. If the fridge wasn’t open very often, it would last longer than that though.

    It looks like a great product but you do need all 4 batteries to run it and in the case of an emergency you may not have all 4 batteries charged and ready to use (Mowing Lawn, Cutting Trees, Contractor etc) thus it becomes useless since you can't power it up at all unless you use 4 batteries. I do understand the voltage and power output constraints if you use less batteries say 2 or even one but the ability to run the power station on a single or Two batteries with light loads such as LED lights or a small heater or communication radio or LED television or charge a phone etc could be a tremendous assist during power outages or in a remote area. This although a good product, does not help much in an emergency especially since it's a slow charger and you will need maybe 2-3 hours or more to get the batteries charged and in case of a tornado warning etc that is a no go.

    So how many hours would this actually keep a refrigerator going? With Hurricane

    When you remove one battery does it keep the unit running long enough to hot swap with a full battery without interrupting the device your trying to keep powered? Or does it shut off immediately?

    Big problems, Milwaukee's new carry on, apart from the plugs being upside down, very annoying if you're putting in a two pin plug, the big problem, switched on but not in use the batteries die in 40 hours, even the big 12 amp, so if you are using this as a backup for anything, maybe for a sump pump,forget it

    The one problem with the battery powered power supply used as a backup during and after any storms and there’s no power to charge the batteries for a period of time, a dual fuel powered generator would be the preferred choice and some gas stations will have a backup generator for the gas pumps and propane pump, I can see the battery powered power supply being used while camping 🏕.

    That windy segment looked like my house with Fiona CLINT... 🌀🌬️🌴
    Just like the RYOBI power station the technology has not matured enough for these devices as of yet to be viable for long term use.. No solar panel or wind charging capability, no multiple battery input capability for the inverter like chained LiFePO 100amp, no car charging capability...
    Okay CLINT this may be nit picking but there are already too many options with those capabilities in the market to waste $700~$1300 on such limited devices.

  • @dcc2444
    @dcc2444 Рік тому

    MAYBE, if it had solar charging. We lost power for 4 days from Ian, without solar panels this would be useless! I have a gas generator running most of the house, these battery-operated units can't do that.

    • @aydelotte0116
      @aydelotte0116 Рік тому

      I don’t see it as a replacement for the gas generator. But I would like to have used it to keep the fridge going overnight and not have to worry about running the generator over night or theft. I think it would be more efficient to recharge during the day on generator and run only the fridge and phone chargers overnight but I may be wrong. Luckily we had nice cool nights after Ian in SWFL.

    You're looking at 4- 12.0 batteries at a price of around $250 each so that's going to cost over $1,000 dollars ➕ the generator your spending over $1,700 dollars. Also you can only run 1 thing at a time so there's a lot to think about before buying this. Still I like this from Milwaukee but will have to wait and see what kind of deal I can get.👍💯 Have a good day brother 🙏
