- In this video I introduce you all to an upcoming Minecraft horror mod, that’s still highly in development. I’ll be going over what this mod does and what makes it better than others. All props go to @mr.alexandermobiles2205 and @stinkyfish6140 for working on this spectacle. And ofcourse Jordan Peele, the one who made the movie Nope. Its an Animal horror movie. Instead of feelings of technology and insignificance it feels like a story of characters being stalked by a tiger or bear, with the twist that it is an alien.

Jean jacket needs to be bigger. In the movie he is massive and completely shrouds a country ranch house. Bigger than a hot air balloon.

@@Motionlesscapture From what little I have seen of it, in wither storm's case it's main body doesn't really interact with the word around it and it also doesn't have any complex animation, so it's size is no issue. However mods that make the mobs that are meant to walk around the world 50 blocks tall or more always feel super janky because they're just too big to feel natural in the game (at least those that I've seen are). They either clip through the terrain or destroy layers of it in perfect circular or square patterns while moving like they're the size of the player and doing that weird thing that minecraft mobs do where they just rotate in place without moving a muscle when they turn. And while Jean isn't meant to touch the ground, she is meant to be swift and elegant in her movements when flying close to the ground or around obstacles like mountains and ravines, and this would be a hell of a challenge to pull off if she was actually a hundred blocks in diameter. Like I'm sure that it can be done and done well, but it honestly feels like this is the better choice for this mod in particular because of how fucking perfect JJ movements are right now.

Man I really want a good War of The Worlds horror mod like this, imagine running through a plains biome trying to get to shelter before a tripod spots you, or hiding in a structure only for a probe to scower each corner of the house till it finds you
If so I'd want it to utilize Correra's Tripods, they have good horror potential, despite what some may say.

And there is a mod of it on Minecraft, Gigeresque! It has context, great look, mechanism, sounds, etc... But have you ever heard of it?

The best part of this mod has got to be the slow distortion of the music. Imagine just chilling in your base one night vibing to other side when the music starts to slowly slow down...

i love that you mentioned "if you're behind it it will switches it's eye to other side" which that's what actually happened in the movie.
Jean Jacket can't "turn" so it instead "moves" it's eye back into "curtains-thing" to the other side if it's "curtains-thing"
In the movie it does that like, 3 times.

Horror relies on building tension, adding unpredictability along with an exploitable gimmick allows for more depth, like a game of cat and mouse.
I'll keep my eyes on this one.

Besides hopefully omitting the digestion aspect for the player, If I may suggest a feature:
If you have thorns armor, you can cause damage to his insides before he quickly regurgitates you. Like when Angel wrapped himself in tarp and barbed wire.
This is going to be one hell of a mod when it drops. I understand it's still highly in development, evidenced from JJ having two different designs throughout the video, but I'd love to leave some suggestions to help spruce up the big guy. I might suggest making the Redstone blocking effect much, much, much bigger. In the movie he was able to snuff out tech from almost half a mile away and it would do wonders to have this distance so that the player can actually sit in the silence and fully process that a giant monster is near, allowing the fear to properly kick on. The second is to make JJ himself much, much bigger. Part of the mystery and terror of JJ in the movie is that, for what is essentially a flying jellyfish that can wrap itself into a sleek and tough shell, JJ was flipping ENORMOUS. Asides that, I must say the final form is so well translated into the Minecraft style. The eye switching, the wings, and no doubt all the sound design for it and the other form will vibrate your soul. I cannot even imagine the fun of dogfighting this guy in an Elytra. 12/10
Yeah Alex has to make it bigger fr, like not as big as crackers witherstorm, but big enough to destroy a 20x20 house, we were even told that the mouth had a diameter of 2 busses
@@derp_128 Goddamn, just the mouth!? It's one thing to read on a Wiki that JJ had a total body length of 1000 feet (that's just over half a f'ing mile!) but it's still so crazy to hear any kind of perspective or scale to it. Truly a masterclass in creature design.
Hear me out. If JJ sucks up a warden, the warden will proceed to rip and tear its way through the insides of JJ. Eventually bursting out like a baby xenomorph.

Yeah, certain mobs would have certain effects on JJ if he sucks them up:
- As stated, Wardens would rip and tear their way through JJ until they burst forth like a baby xenomorph.
- Creepers will detonate inside and essentially kill JJ, probably more violently than a ghast.
- Similar to how he was defeated in Nope, if JJ sucks up a ghast, he willl explode, as Ghasts are basically sentient balloons when you think about it.
- skeletons will be yeeted out in a mass of bones. JJ couldn't possibly get any kind of sustenance from.
-Pillagers, Illagers, and the Ravenger would not go down without a fight, especially the Ravenger.
@@muttproductions2536 oh and because the ghasts are so big, JJ would have to turn inside out and then wrap around them in order to swallow them, just like with the balloon in the actual movie
My only issue is that JJ isn’t as size accurate since its much larger in the film but I generally love this mod very underrated horror monster, can’t wait to see it in its full release.

I think the potential for this Mob is really cool.
Doesn't have to necessarily be horrifying but Mobs that actually interact with Minecrafts core mechanics is such a rarity.
The only time I've Mobs interact with the world is Endermen picking blocks, Creepers doing their thing, and Zombies turning Villagers into more zombies.
Something that actively disrupts your farms and mess up your Redstone [without destroying it] is unique!
And honest I think that's what most Minecraft mods are missing, that extra level of interactivity with the Player rather than just being supplemental or overhauling your game.
Love to see more mobs or features like this in the future.
You should check out the Cracker’s witherstorm mod. It interacts with the world as well and goes after any entities it sees

I feel that this is a horror mod that doesn't interfere too much in the game so I think you can play with Alex's caves or mobs. Love this when is it coming out
as long as you don't look at it it's not going to bother you, plus it only spawns in certain biomes
Its just obscure enough you might forget about it being in a modpack or be able to put it in one without players noticing. Its literally perfect, because when you do encounter it it will feel truly alien
but if you have too many mods, it'll just be a weird polygonal murder thing

I'm hoping you don't immediately die when Jean Jacket swallows you. In the film, the people it ate stayed alive for a while just being slowly dissolved until they all got suddenly crushed into liquid. So I think it'd be cool, and creepy, if you got swallowed and held within Jean Jacket for a while, maybe a minute or so, before you got crushed.

Actually they were stuck on its throat. The horse statue was blocking everyone from getting crushed immediately so it decided to just throw up over the house.

I think the UFO needs to be larger, and move alot slower. The cosmic horror aspect adds alot to aliens, and a big part of that is scaling
She is actually super fast in the movie so that part is accurate
And I mentioned this to another commenter, but actually making her a 100 meters in diameter, like she is supposed to be, would be a little insane for Minecraft

Personally, I really agree with the "Unexpected Interactions" part, what made the original Cave Dweller scary was how it could, among other things, crawl through 1x1 holes, even though it's really tall. I think that was even mentioned by the original creator ^^

Nope it's one of my favorite movies (and the ones that traumatized me) in all aspects, not only in the theme of a living UFO (which was a brutal idea), but in the realistic behavior that Jacket has, he is not a monster that He wants to kill people for fun, he is a predator, a creature that hunts for survival, plus Jordan (the director) based it on various marine animals to make it more realistic in its final form.
This movie is an ugly trauma, but it is very worth appreciating the work that was done on it.
I’m impressed with how much Jean Jacket’s design and behavior feels like it fits with Minecraft. I never would have thought of it myself, but you even have to stare at him to aggro him.
My only riff on this mod is the size of Jean Jacket's Saucer form, In the film it's said it's hole is 2 school busses wide.The size of Jean Jacket is one of the things that make it horryfying, Based on what's shown in this mod it looks like it's bottom hole is like 5 sheep wide. Also the part where it drops items down wouldn't be as cool either since the radius smaller. Other then that im excited.

One thing it could use is be a bit larger to be closer to the size of the movie one, which is around 110 meters in diameters with the hole being 28 meters in diameter.

I’m definitely going to build a bunker in the badlands just because I want to get the adrenaline pumping and see if I’d make it to my underground bunker safely or not, it’ll be more terrifying if we added the weather/storms/tornados mod as well to add more pressure onto the player.
They not only have to keep away from JJ but also take shelter from the storms as well!

@@Evandd Horror movies are not scary. I've seen videos from the movie, and it doesn't look scary at all. Even if it was, I still wouldn't be scared of a flying white octagon with a butthole in the bottom of it. Don't get me wrong, the movie looks like it's good, but it does not look scary whatsoever. It looks like a flying white circle and when it transforms it looks like a flying white bathrobe with a green square on the front made out of paper. It's like they tried to make circles scary by adding a screaming sound effect whenever it gets near anybody. It also sometimes looks like a paraglider. I don't think a giant paraglider is scary. XD

Do you think the movie would be the same if instead of it just being a flying white frisbee with polyphagia and irritable bowel syndrome, that can transform into a bath towel, it was a flying frisbee, but the dead faces of the people it ate grew on the outside of it still with the expressions of agony they had when they died? That still wouldn't be scary on its own, and it's just a random idea that I came up with on the spot, but it's far better than a fucking ordinary flying saucer that sucks things up through the bottom of it like in any other alien movie. Also, you're one to talk about "not knowing what I'm talking about." You haven't even put any reasoning into why I'm wrong, other than, "OH, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE! Imagine JJ eating a sculk catalyst. Every thing that JJ would eat after would be infected by the sculk causing JJ flesh to be infected since it is organic. In other words, you'd be torturing the poor JJ to death with a death possible be more painful and more terrfying than anyone went through that moive.
Imo it doesn’t seem scary in any way shape or form, but nope is a super cool movie and a mod adding JJ and some movie stuff regardless of horror would be one of the coolest mods in a long time

What makes JJ scary is how everyone in the movie believes it to be an actual alien saucer, interested to see who is piloting it before they realise the ship IS the pilot. It made me think of a universe where humans and aliens are on good terms, trading resources to the other, but there are mimic saucers that sometimes attack both the aliens and humans.
The only thing that I think needs improving is the size. JJ is absolutely fucking massive in the movie, and I know it’s been made smaller to fit better with Minecraft’s environment, but I feel like it could be a little bigger.

I mean, it quite a unique mod, better idea than most if not all dwellers, but its not necessarily "the most horrifying", something like the man-bear-pig mod and the "obsessor" (i believe is called?) just seems more horrifying due to the stalking elements and high intellectual traits they have. But still love the mechanics of this where the mob can actually hide within clouds and behind mountains and is probably much scarier at night when you confront it.
