- Is the Chinese GP any better than it was when F1 last raced here in 2019? F1 returned to the Shanghai International Circuit for the first Chinese GP since 2019. Although it wasn’t a hiccup free weekend after we learned about the Chinese GP painted track and then Chinese GP fires. In this video I’ll run you through my thoughts on the 2024 Chinese GP and whether I think it’s improved.

The heavy presence of LV in the paddock might have something to do with the LV Voyage show took place in Shanghai yesterday. Big stars in China and also celebrities like Cate Blanchett and Ho-yeon from Squid Game were at the show. But it is also plausible that it just because of LV’s longstanding popularity here surprisingly.
No matter the country, it's wonderful to see the enthusiasm, "passion" , smiling and waving of race fans. For a short time, differences are put aside to enjoy a shared event.
We always seek for the common between the differents
China attacks a Philippines boat again Saturday. Why are F1 racing in a country that attacks it's neighbours ?
@@buildmotosykletist1987 Philippine invaded the border first, for years they were doing this, and that’s not an attack, just a spit of water. Do some homework then trust the “news making” media, they create conflict for money.

As for the trophy lighting up, I believe there was a trophy that would light up when it was kissed on the button. I can’t remember which races, but it was at least last year, I believe

Love the subtle play of the Dutch National Anthem while mentioning Max winning. Nice touch.
Last year’s Japan GP had a trophy that lights up, at least for the winner it did. It lighted up in the national colors after being kissed by the winner (Max)
Yes. That kiss trophy also looks fun. They both light up because they are both created by Lenovo, main sponsor of Shanghai GP.

Regarding the sold out seats! there was a lot more demand than seats, so you'd imagine even if they did put out 100% of the seats it would have been gone in a second (well officially seats sold out in minutes when it opened) , and the blocks of color you see were actually pre-arranged block booked seats by various fan clubs, so you could either grab tickets with ie the McLaren fan club, or you could go and book the seats yourself (which was, once again, gone in seconds). The ferrari fans sat together but had a fight over whose flags they got to display, which was awkward for anyone that weren't ferrari fans. I assume the lil bits of seats that weren't sold out were actually officially reserved seats that were used as free tickets for media/vouchers/(awards for the F1 pundit's channel's lottery even ) but evidently it wasn't used.
The Mclaren group that you filmed had some of my friends there! Real shame I couldn't be there with them this weekend as I'm not in China rn. Thanks for the video Kym, hope you have a great time in Miami!

There’s no standard setting. I use all sorts depending on a range of factors. Anything from 1/10th sec to 1/8’000ths

Thank you for expaining the banner over the Turn 1 grandstand.
Whats interesting is that they buillt this when they still have an unused grandstand (the red banner covered one near Turn 12 out the back of rhe circuit). This was used in the first few years (from 2004).
Was there any more support races than previous?
I attended in 2018 (Danny Rics storming win) and sat in K at the hairpin whichbwas great, but not much else on track other than hot lap sessions.
The unused grandstand hasn’t been used for years, the structure has some small damage and needs to be rebuilt. This could happen later in this year. About the support race, in 2019 it’s only PCCA with last gen’s 911 gt3 cup, this year’s support race was China F4 and PCCA.
While watching Lando's dad was watching the podium celebration. Only one thought came to mind..."SCOOTER!" He can really make that into a viral marketing thing for Pure "SCOOTER!". LOL

About the driving test. You guys should watch the grand tour episode where Clarkson, May, and Hammond have to take one. It’s one of the funniest ones.
That health test is only to insure you are a person with normal functioning body, and can react to emergency situations, also is not a color blind. The original driver’s license is still needed.

$60 a ticket you say? Hmmm.. A Japan China double header looks like a must do with some time in between touristy stuff. That visa stuff though...
China has visa free policy for some countries. And a 144 hr visa free transit for more countries. Looks a lot easier now given that many of my friends from Europe have been to China, unimaginable in the past.

Who knows? With it being on at 1:00am onward, the western hemisphere did not see it. Apparently, Max won (there's a shock), Lando second, and Lance Stroll screwed-up (another shock).

Mum, I was just disappointed by the marshalling. The time it took to get Bottas’s car of the track was pretty ordinary - maybe even less than ordinary.

No. Reducing Radius corners like Ying Yang at Turn 1 and 2 does not suit the DNA of F1.
Zhou Guanyu was wonderful and I was moved by his show of emotions at the end of the race.
Can't wait for Stroll to quit F1 as he is a continuous problem. I'd like to see a financial tally of each driver's F1 car wrecks because my hypothesis is that Lance Stroll would double anyone else's totals.

I noticed the "blocks" of fans too....some of it seems orchestrated
they do the same thing in the UK for soccer/football. Also, chinese fans bought the tickets thru a special app, so it may ask "what team do you like? Heres a reccomended place to sit with other fans"
@@tylerbird9301 lol that's segregation 'cos the football fans fight with each-other and best kept apart, so it's not the same. You don't get it at rugby matches, I've never seen it at F1, and this is China afterall.

@@saintuk70unfortunately I think it is creeping into F1. Red Bull Ring in Austria has driver Tribunes and I think they started it in Barcelona with a Sainz fan stand.
Personally the best thing I liked about attending F1 races was the fans of different teams and drivers sitting next to each other chatting and enjoying the racing without all the tribal toxicity we see on SM. Looks like those happy days attending a race are ending if F1 continues like this.
