Cleo, I have absolutely no idea how you managed to score this inside look into F1...my inner child could barely contain my excitement for the full 24 minutes. I hope to see more of this F1 content in future!
Cleo can reach an audience outside the normal racecar fandom. I myself am not much of an F1 fan, (the only popular motorsport that remotely interests me is rally racing,) but I've been coming by Cleo's channel for her science content for ages. This makes her kind of an ideal host for bringing the "nerdier" side of F1 racing to a broader audience. (Personally, this is the only reason I'm really interested in F1 at all; I love the engineering and I study aerodynamics as a hobby, so there's a lot to appreciate, design-wise, in F1, and I care about that more than the competitive aspect of the sport itself. Cleo is the perfect ambassador for "my kind" of people.) Plus, I mean, motorsports are predominately followed by male fans. Having a female presenter with this much _genuine_ enthusiasm for the sport is basic just free advertising for FIA, (or Red Bull in particular, in this case,) because it's more likely to appeal to an otherwise potentially ambivalent female audience. And given her background in covering science and engineering topics, it's a fair bet that she can actually understand and convey the important principles involved in F1 racing in a way that resonates with her existing fan base. From a marketing perspective this was a really smart move.
I've watched almost every F1 race since around 1988 and have to say that Cleo has absolutely nailed this video. Great, great work. Also, that one RB car that has a really different paintjob to all the rest - RB3 from 2007 British GP - not a successful car but it has thousands of tiny photos of 'fans' all over it, one of which is my dad (I got him that as a birthday present)!

Hi Cleo, Hope you had a fantastic time at our factory and with the race team at pre-season testing! It’s a shame I didn’t bump into you as that would have been wild but glad you had such a great time and really appreciated the access given on site. Fantastic job with this video! A great lesson for new (and hopefully future new) fans of F1! Thank you for sharing our sport with so many people who may not have otherwise seen it and for shedding a light on the immense amount of work and complexity we put into every car!

Dear @F1. This is the type of content we want to see. Thank you Cleo for making this. I hope this brings new fans to F1 and appreciate the technical and logistical talent that goes into F1, not just the fastest driver.
I've been following F1 since around 1983, and as many others have said in the comments, this is one of the best documentaries I've watched on F1. Very, very well done. What sets it apart from other documentaries is the scope, showing that everything, the car design, manufacture, pit crew, drivers, and strategy, must work at their peak. It was really cool to see Hannah Schmitz representing the strategy team. Red Bull's strategy has been just perfect; it's mind-boggling how they can get it right every single time, even when the strategy seems odd for a fan (one of those "why are they doing that?!" moments), and then after the race is usually "yeah, they were spot-on on the strategy". Great video.

An interesting characteristic of modern f1 engines is that they doesn´t use a direct sparkplug for igniting the mixture, the use a pre combustion chamber (turbulent jet ignition) to inject jets of fire to the cylinder chamber (it´s like a mini flamethrower inside each cylinder). This allows the engine to be able to achieve complete combustion with very lean air/fuel mixture, this is one of the reasons of the high thermal efficiency of these engines. Is great to start seeing this technology arriving to road cars, like the Maserati MC20. Great video btw!

This is single-handedly the best video to show what Formula 1 is all about. Your video production is through the roof and the visual proof is amazing. Though my F1 bias might shine through, this is one of the best videos on UA-cam
Just watched your episode and I had blast. As a lifelong F1 fan I can appreciate your enthusiasm and energy while making it. Not everybody can transmit what really goes on behind the scenes and you have done a mega job. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!
I've watched F1 since 1985, never been able to afford to go. But it's the most amazing sport. There's nothing quite like lights out and the first corner. Always incredible. Cleo, you did a fantastic job of explaining how it all works. Your enthusiasm is infectious and I absolutely love everything you do.
I've been watching Formula 1 since 1978. I'm Canadian and I started watching when Gilles Villeneuve was racing for Ferrari. After watching your video, I can honestly say this is the first time I've been jealous. Thank you for that insite, I enjoyed it.
Absolutely fantastic video.. I've been a licensed technician for over 45 years,, I work on auto, motorcycle, marine and aviation.. I've been at F1 and Indy races,, I still get up everyday and find the automotive industry fascinating..
Yes. And you're not alone. I was partially green with envy because Cleo got to SIT IN THE CAR (granted, I'm pretty sure I'm WAY too tall to fit anyways but still)
This is not only your best video, but it’s the best piece of media I’ve seen on formula 1 in years. Well done! As a longtime fan, it’s been such a blast seeing f1 become popular in the US. It truly is the marriage of what is possible with engineering and human talent in the car.
I love the way your video explained the basics so clearly and the way you asked questions! I can see your sincere appreciation and happiness on what you were seeing! Great job Cleo!👏😍🥰
15+ years of F1, seen it all, doc-wise. Most documentaries leave you stranded at the starting grid. But Cleo's video? Pole position winner! Crisp, informative, captures the F1 adrenaline rush perfectly. This explanation laps the competition (even F1!). Seriously, Cleo, thanks for this amazing video! 🏎
This is really probably one of the best F1 videos ever made. Or at least maybe the best I've found. The amount of access you got is insane, countless automotive journalists would kill for this. I think it'd be cool if one of the teams released something like this after a major regulation change covering the previous regulations, showing how they built the engine, some of the aerodynamic intricacies of that generation, etc. Very unlikely that'd ever happen as I'd imagine even that could give out secrets, but this is about as close as anyone's gonna get otherwise. What a great video.
It’s so cool to see another American so HUGELY excited about F1! Most everyone I know thinks I’m always talking about Indy car when I’m trying to explain F1 to them.
You literally showed so much. I am new to the fandom so i didn't know much and have been going through videos to videos trying to understand the Formula 1. A lot of those videos are just people yapping and not talking about real thing that goes on to these cars and the one who makes these cars. This video gave a brief idea on how it works and not just that but seeing all of the engineers and other workers working for the best car was so good. It gave me goosebumps. Wow, I’ve been a f1 fan for 25+ years and this video is soooo good. It’s insane. This is my DREAM to visit and see these cars up close, I have been a fan of F1 since my dad sat me down to watch my first race in 1998 aged 6. Thank you for a hugely informative video 😊 it is mind blowing how much technology, science etc. goes into these cars.
Great Video Cleo, and the animations are great. But I did notice some mistakes in this. 0:55 DRS flaps hinge from the top, not the middle 5:33 Wrong direction around Bahrain Circuit 7:31 Same wrong DRS animation 15:16 It's Energy Recovery System, not Reduction. That would defeat the point of the system 15:43 The 2026 Cars will run on Synthetic Fuels too. These videos are great and I'm really glad someone with your talents is making these videos, keep up the good work Also, Carbon Fibre was introduced by McLaren in the 80's
Not true about the drs flap, look at the red bull live or even other teams like Ferrari Aston etc. You can check the FP2 highlights if you'd like. Also just look at the footage in this video lol
@@maximbeekenkamp3342 They clearly hinge from the top and not the middle. 1:06 in the FP2 footage from this weekends Aus GP shows it. The point of it hinging there is to maximise the gap between the bottom plane and the top plane. Hinging in the middle would create more drag. Also at 8:32 in this video we can see the hinge points on the rear wing, and they're at the top of the wing plane instead of the middle.
I think lots of Formula 1 fans at some point in their enthusiasm, they become curious in the engineering part of this sport. So became I. Who would have thought that I could find such an incredible video explaining this! Very, very interesting. You’ve done a great job, Cleo! Thank you so much!

(Personally, this is the only reason I'm really interested in F1 at all; I love the engineering and I study aerodynamics as a hobby, so there's a lot to appreciate, design-wise, in F1, and I care about that more than the competitive aspect of the sport itself. Cleo is the perfect ambassador for "my kind" of people.)
Plus, I mean, motorsports are predominately followed by male fans.

She missed the most important technology built into the cars a Kenetic Energy Recovery System which harvests energy from braking into electrical energy that then can be used in squirts for overtaking or defending and that is limited each lap, is refreshed as you cross the start/finish line each lap and is used at the drivers discretion via a button on the steering wheel.

Well done Cleo for this amazing and fantastic ride!
This was not comprehensive at all but it was a very well done quick start guide...
Well done👏👏👏👏!!! And, after 45 year of being big fan of F1, and 32 years as motoring journalist, I can only congratulate you and your team on this video!
Hi Cleo,
Hope you had a fantastic time at our factory and with the race team at pre-season testing! It’s a shame I didn’t bump into you as that would have been wild but glad you had such a great time and really appreciated the access given on site.
Fantastic job with this video! It is arguably the best F1 explanatory/introductory video I have seen in a very long time. Succinct and yet detailed with lots of information. A great lesson for new (and hopefully future new) fans of F1! Thank you for sharing our sport with so many people who may not have otherwise seen it and for shedding a light on the immense amount of work and complexity we put into every car!

A lot of bot comments like you
I've been following F1 since around 1983, and as many others have said in the comments, this is one of the best documentaries I've watched on F1.

One of th best explanations of f1 I have seen. I have been an f1 fan for almost 40 years and this is a must watch video
Woah thats crazy! I gotta search for a video on this, I need an animation!

This is not only your best video, but it’s the best piece of media I’ve seen on formula 1 in years. Well done! As a longtime fan, it’s been such a blast seeing f1 become popular in the US. It truly is the marriage of what is possible with engineering and human talent in the car.

I want to work for Formula 1 one day and this video gave me little idea on what to expect. Watching everyone put so much effort on to these cars is mind blowing. Thank you so much for the video!!! Great Video Cleo, and the animations are great. But I did notice some mistakes in this.
0:55 DRS flaps hinge from the top, not the middle
5:33 Wrong direction around Bahrain Circuit
7:31 Same wrong DRS animation
15:16 It's Energy Recovery System, not Reduction. That would defeat the point of the system
15:43 The 2026 Cars will run on Synthetic Fuels too.
These videos are great and I'm really glad someone with your talents is making these videos, keep up the good work
Also, Carbon Fibre was introduced by McLaren in the 80's
Not true about the drs flap, look at the red bull live or even other teams like Ferrari Aston etc. You can check the FP2 highlights if you'd like. Also just look at the footage in this video lol
This needs more upvotes
@@maximbeekenkamp3342
They clearly hinge from the top and not the middle.
The animators deserve a raise
and that RB20 is a BEAST🔥
