Nice new content Nathan, I like healthy discussions and hearing differing opinions!
Only comment that I want to respond to is the first one from Josh Hall about JD SBBP Rye. I once got a "lesser" bottle and since it's from a single barrel you can get the occasional lemon. I would advise to try it again from a different batch and see if your opinion changes. Perhaps you simply don't like rye?

Only comment is regarding whether or not something is worth hunting/buying. Two things worth noting are (1) How much are you spending (MSRP/Secondary) and (2). How much do you enjoy it? Taste being subjective and all.

Jumping on secondary and hunting for msrp are different things. WA107 is worth the hunt to find at msrp. Finding one at a marked up store isn't hunting either, MSPR!

Only thing I'd add for "worth" is A. Whether it's MSRP or secondary and B. How much do you actually enjoy it? It's not always hype. Sometimes people actually just like stuff that is allocated or limited. I'll be honest, BT mash bill #1 is my favorite. Will I pay crazy prices for it? No! Will I pay slightly over MSRP for it? Yes!

Blantons is the only product from Buffalo trace that I’ve tried that I don’t think is worth msrp. Other than that, any Buffalo trace item is a buy at their intended price. I don’t do secondary market. I get Blantons for msrp on occasion and keep it on hand for other people. Knob creek 9 120 proof is pretty good in my opinion.

I more time than not, go to low proof whiskey. The flavors on high proof whiskeys may be a little better, but you can't enjoy them as much as lower proof pour.

for the money, nothing beats JDSBBP Rye. River Roots MGP 11 yr Rye will stand up to any rye on the market.

I just picked up A107 for $50 in PA last week. So, it's absolutely still available at MSRP and definitely still worth the hunt.
I agree on Blanton's being $30 juice, maybe even less than that. Blanton's is absurdly overrated and is actually the only whiskey from BT that I DON'T enjoy. I know it varies from batch to batch being single barrel, but I get funky notes on the backend of Blantons that I don't get from anything else from BT.

    Weller 12 for anything over $50 I’m out 100%.

Wheated Heaven Hill is better bang for your buck? Personally, I think the barrel proof Larceny's are ridiculously hot, and the regular small batch I'd never buy again. Rebel's are just ok, and Old Fitzgerald are ridiculously overpriced for wildly inconsistent releases. The Weller Single Barrel and CYPB are overrated and secondary has lost its mind, but even at $100-$150 secondary, Antique 107 smokes all of them. If you equal out the actual MSRP, Weller, Kosher Wheat, & Pappy kill HH hands down IMO. Even if it's less expensive and more available, I just don't find value in something that isn't nearly as good to my palate.
Also, as an aside, just because something is wheated doesn't mean it's really comparable. The profile of HH is way different to BT. I know we often fall into this "if you want a Weller/Pappy substitute, look at other wheaters", but that's not really true. If you like the profile of a whiskey, your best bet is to look at other offerings from the same distiller. It would be like saying any substitute for a regular bourbon is any bourbon that uses corn/rye/malted barley in their mash bill, because we know there are dramatic differences between distillers. /rant

I keep it simple anymore. WT rare breed and 101 and Russell single both bourbon and rye Knob creek single barrel same here with the rye Four Roses singl and select.

I agree that we shouldn't be slaves to chasing proof, but the Michter's examples are pretty unique. They have such a low barrel entry proof (103) that they aren't watered down much, meaning the water in the barrel has been extracting sugars and soluble flavors and compounds for the entirety of the aging process, giving you flavor and texture at a lower proof. The maximum barrel entry proof most distillers use (125) means if they water down their offerings to 100 or lower, they're adding in a ton of water that hasn't been in contact with the barrel and simply reduces the intensity of flavors and texture. But the 125 barrel entry proof means they get more yield from each barrel, part of why lower proof bourbons like Michter's or Redemption cost more, because water is cheap and they aren't adding much after aging. So, there's a big difference between Michter's at 90 proof vs Buffalo Trace at 90 proof. Even at sub-90 proof, Michter's is a decent experience. The same cannot be said for many other sub-90 proof bottles.

Love old forester. Love 1920!! Actually been enjoying mixing 1910 and 1920 to make 1915 lately. Together they put out a banana flavor and nose that has been driving me crazy.

I think this year maybe into early next year is when people are gonna completely stop paying for $200+ msrp bottles. I also kind of think having whiskeytube channels buying these things doesn't help but it's somewhat of a catch 22 I'd say being a whiskey creator in that aspect. Love all the channels I'm subbed to and do appreciate yours as well!
    Thanks for your video/takes brotha!

Lmao the caramel notes were 👌
The tasting note I always roll my eyes at is "plum." IMO people reach for that when they can't identify a "dark fruit" note (not what plums taste like).

    1. The JDSB, Bourbon or Rye, are not overrated especially for the price.
    2. That's subjective. There are some allocated bottles that have no substitute.
    3. Sustaining
    4. It is the top bottle on my list as we never, I mean never, see it around here.
    5. Agreed
    6. Agreed, but it will take longer than we expect it to.
    7. Disagree. I would pay $200 for a few bottles out there. Just a few though.
    8. Strongly disagree. That person needs help.
    9. Maybe
    10. Disagree - those are very decent bottles for the price, but they are not better tan 70% of the market.
    11. Disagree - KC9 is great
    12. Disagree - 1920 is very good
    13. Agreed
    14. Agreed on the 107
    15. This dude is just stupid. Traveller Sux
    16. Agreed
    17. I think some UA-camrs do default to standard notes all the time. I am not good enough to pick things out. I either like it, or not. I am getting better though.
    18. OWA is not overrated
