On my Pontiac 2004 2-door installing Sparkplug #5 is really hassle / pain and most of the people crack this Sparkplug as I did during the installation, without knowing. Mine was apparently a tiny crack and survived for while. however, after getting P0305 code recently my assumption was that Sparkplug #5 is brand new and did not check it. I switched the Coiles but still getting the P0305 code. So finally after checking wire and coil I decided to check the sparkplug which was real pain so after pulling it out (after several painful attempts) I found that the plug is cracked so after replacing it I got fixed my problem. Therefore, do dont ever cross it to you head that your sparkplug is new so there is no issue.

A 1999 Grand Marquis has no OBD code to indicate an fuel injector's electrical connection has failed. Misfire can also come from a fuel injector failure. I have a 1999 Grand Marquis. An injector electrical connector had somewhat slipped out of its socket because the connector release tab had broken off. Not noticing this issue with the broken release tab, I'd check and later replace that cylinder's coil pack and would inadvertently press on injectors electrical connector which would temporarily reestablish connection. The engine would run perfectly for a while until vibrations disconnected the coil pack again. Very frustrating. Finally noticed the issue when the process of elimination led me to consider the fuel injectors as a source of misfire. Realizing how to disconnect the injector's electrical connection revealed the problem behind the issue.
could it be bad fuel ? i got the code right after i put gas in from a different gas station i don’t usually go to because the price was 10 cents cheaper that day
The first two things that you mentioned wouldn't cause a misfire in just one cylinder you're misleading people if it's a fuel injector yes it will cause a misfire in just that one cylinder as well as the spark plug or coil in that one cylinder if you have a vacuum leak it will cause a misfire and other cylinders as well as a faulty fuel filter

Very well done video...informative and easy to understand. But, would a vacuum leak or fuel filter/line issue affect a single cylinder, and why specifically #5? Also, what about the oft over-looked and sinister fuel cap? An integral component to your fuel/emissions system, a faulty (vented) fuel cap could throw the entire system into chaos! Great tip to swap the coil to another cylinder to see if code moves with it. I pulled my plug and regapped it. It was dry and cleaned burned so misfire could not be that bad. Plugs have many too so might swap the plug to another cylinder too. If code stays on cyl 5 I may swap the injector. When a problem occurs intermittently it can be a pain in the ass to find it.

It could be more than those 3 too. If all 3 is fine and it's still having that code P0305 then it's most likely a Cam Shaft Position Sensor. If that's fine too; then it's most likely a Oxygen Sensor in your Catalytic Converters. Head gaskets and even Intake Gasket leaks are common and can cause fluid to leak out of the heads/intake and seep into the spark plug hole causing the Spark plugs to get wet thus a misfire. I've also know a timing issue could be the cause from bad timing Chains which is a very expensive fix and in some vehicles its better to replace the whole engine than fix a timing chain issue (aka: Ford 4.6L and 5.4L Motors). To check this; go at a moderate speed on the interstate say 60mph then just Floor the piss out of it. If it takes off immediately then the timing is fine if it has a long delay then goes its a timing problem at which point if you have the motors mentioned above replace the vehicle/motor it's actually cheaper that way.

If I stop at a store then get in, restart it, engine light comes on and engine shuts some cylinders down. If it sits over night the light goes off and it runs fine so this is an intermittant problem and most likely not a damaged cylinder. I ordered an injector, hoping this solves the issue.
could also be low compression on that cylinder. if it's just a miss fire on one cylinder, it would not be a vacuum leak or bad fuel filter that would make a miss fire on all the cylinders, not just one. could also be a valve not seating completely, a bad lifter, or that cylinders rocker arm needing to be adjusted .

Could be coils, spark plugs, wrong octane gasoline, clogged fuel injector, air leak in one of your hoses, coolant leak inside your intake, oil leak etc go to a mechanic and have them smoke test your car and diagnose from there
Hmm, That seems somewhat unlikely that they may be connected. I'd reach out to a mechanic or check our resources in the app to see if there's a diagnostic list you could run to see if it's something else. Best of luck!

If you have a pan of gasoline sitting outside and throw a match (spark) in it and you don't think combustion will occur because there is no compression, you are in for a BIG surprise! Compression is not required for combustion.
You are wrong about it only being applicable to v6, v8, and v12. This issue is common for the Hummer H3 which comes stock with an inline 5 cylinder motor or the i5.

Bruh inline 5s too. I washed the engine bay and it misfired a couple times after. Once the intake was dry it works fine
I have a 2007 MKZ I have an error code on cylinder 5 po305 I replaced spark plugs all the way around and replaced injector on cylinder 5 next will be the coil cylinder 5 I hope I'm close to fixing this any suggestions.? Also my light is now off but still running rough I'm pretty sure it's the coil?
Ive got the same problem with my 2010 MKZ. Replaced the plugs, coil, pigtail wire to fuel injector #5 because we noticed the wire was exposed, coating had melted away, but not the injector yet since the garage took me for $1500 so far and wants to do further diagnosis. Engine light goes on after a restart from driving awhile only occassionally, and only codes when Ive driven it 40 minutes and its hot out with the engine warmed to temperature. My next step is replace the injector for #5. Did you fix yours and what was the issue?
@@TheBlondePatriot Hi there . There was a tsb on my year and model car, anytime a coil fails Have to replace the (pcm) and all plugs and coils .I've already replaced # 5 injector..I have new coils & plugs waiting on pcm soon as I get that I'll post again
I have a 07 maxima and This code just popped up to me, took it to autozone and report says its a ignition coil not sure if its really that or not
I have this error : primary current too low on cylinder 5 .. how can i solve that?
I have 2008 volvo s40 5 cylinder, replaced all the spark plugs and coils about a year a ago but now I'm getting the P0305 code saying there is a misfire in cylinder 5 should I swap the coils?
First visually check the thin wires going the #5 fuel injector & coil for wear. Then swap coils, replace plugs & coils as necessary. If that doesn't work check for slow coolant loss...bad head gasket.
In my case, timing. The Gates belt I bought has marks that aren't printed with much accuracy so I kind of had to guess which tooth went on which side of the tooth on the belt.
Awsome class!
Hey man, i’ve changed the spark plug and ignition coil and my v6 and i still have 5th cylinder misfire what could be the problem?
I am having the same problem and am leading towards a computer issue. I have no spark to the number 5 cylinder
Did any one of you figure out the issue having the same issue with the 5th one after changing plugs and switching coils around
@@antoneashiaclemons1168 I had to replace the ECM. Common problem with Mazda.
@@antoneashiaclemons1168 i took it to the dealership for a diagnostic, they told that i have problem with my cylinder valve and everything is under warranty including the diagnostic
Great content
I got new plugs and wires put on and now the cylinder 5 code is on wasn't on until I replaced them
Same here can anybody help me out with this problem? Got distributor cap and rotor spark plugs and wires replaced and now I have a cylinder 5 misfire on now but wasn’t there before replacing them?
What about the O2 sensor? I to replace a downstream O2 sensor but I left the other one in. It’s pretty old compared to the new one. The new 02 is on the left side where my fifth cylinder is, could this be it and my cylinder is firing too fast?
Was it the o2 sensor? Im having rough idle and p305 code. I replaced upstream sensor and when my check engine light came on it said bank 1 sensor 2 i think
@@focused4841 Did you ever get it fixed.?
@@focused4841 I have a 2007 mix same problem Po305 ..I changed spark plugs all the way around and injector for cylinder 5 next will be coil .I hope I'm close to fixing it.
@@steventmln1st did it work ?
@@hezikiahwhite come to find it was the fuel injector.. They had sold me a faulty one .. so I assumed I ran into another problem.. just to find out it was a faulty fuel injector
*also inline 5 and inlime 6
Just got this code on a 2006 g35 coupe. Since it can be a lot of things and mechanics usually rip you off.... Should I just sell it or junk it? I love this car but i sound like a long and expensive job to figure out the problem. Expecially cus its a nissan and nissan electronics aee shit!
Sell it for parts, I have an I30t changed every freaken thing and the car still doesn't pass emissions and runs like shit. I'm moving to city where I don't need a damn car.
Please I need help
Excellent.
I have a misfire on cylinder 5 and 2 I got my injectors cleaned I replaced leaking hoses I changed my ignition coils two brand new ones they're all new spark plugs are new the code is still there I erased it and it keeps popping up
Smoke test the car to check for air leaks
I got a 1995 F150 302 4 wheel drive missing on cylinder 5 I done compression check 150 I don't know what else to do
Its probably that one injector...
P.s don't check compression it's the injectors mane
Hi, thank you so much you have been of great help
You’re awesome my friend, thanks for everything
God Bless you...!!!
Thank you for the kind feedback, Fredi! Happy and safe driving to you and yours :)
Don't say that it ONLY applies to V6, V8, or V12 engines. That is not correct.
Thank you for clearing this up!
What if it's 5 and 6 what does that mean?
Could be coils, spark plugs, wrong octane gasoline, clogged fuel injector, air leak in one of your hoses, coolant leak inside your intake, oil leak etc go to a mechanic and have them smoke test your car and diagnose from there
Do you think you can get to the point a little bit faster with the videos please
Thanks
Thks for information. I have 2007 fronter se #5 misfire could baded .all becase got realie baded gas .
Cylinder 5 a lot of times on ford's is the connector
How do you check the connector?
I got a P0305 on my 2007 Nissan Murano after I changed my antifreeze
Hmm, That seems somewhat unlikely that they may be connected. I'd reach out to a mechanic or check our resources in the app to see if there's a diagnostic list you could run to see if it's something else. Best of luck!
FIXD thank you I just took apart the intake manifold so I gotta wait a week for the spark plugs I ordered to cone
@@NFLYoungBoy223 Of course, Hope it all works out!
NFL YoungBoy Hey I have a had a problem with my 97 Oldsmobile 88 I took it to a mechanic and he fixed my intake manifold leak and a water pump leak but it is still quitting out on me when it seems to get to hot just wondering if you had the same problem and if you fixed
You are wrong on couple things
You failed to explain if the battery is not temporarily disconnected the computer may still read bad codes! Really? Be more specific
I belive combustion requires 4 things fuel, air, spark, and pressure to create to burn the fuel.
If you have a pan of gasoline sitting outside and throw a match (spark) in it and you don't think combustion will occur because there is no compression, you are in for a BIG surprise!
Compression is not required for combustion.
I need help guys
GM makes an in-line 5 cylinder..
So does Honda
Never be the person who changes parts without properly diagnosing the problem. Could be a costly fix this way.
Muy buen video, gracias por compartir
You are wrong about it only being applicable to v6, v8, and v12.
This issue is common for the Hummer H3 which comes stock with an inline 5 cylinder motor or the i5.
Get out of here with this gotcha crap
Awesome thanks
I changed my spark plugs and wires and now I'm getting code p1174 and misfire on number 5 spark plug in my 07 chevy impala
Más bien, muy buena explicación
Some please help me
You forgot to mention straight 6
Only applies to V6, V8, V12 engines? Never heard of a boxer or a straight 6?
Five cylinder motor too
Someone stole my fixed obd2 scanner when they stole my car is there a way to track it if they try and use it?
Please someone help. I have no friends or family. My car is all I have. It's where I sleep and how I make money. My car is misfiring but it has spark. My radiator broke on the freeway and it stalled with no water. Please someone help
Is you good?
