Thanks to raging bolt and now farigiraf it has been scientifically proven that elongating a mon's neck improves its competitive viability, I hope meganium gets a new form with an even longer neck so it can finally be viable
I think another big thing is that Farigaraf didn’t just appear in the top spots, it was relevant. It wasn’t just sight seeing and watching Flutter Mane do the work, it took its place in taking crucial KO’s while still providing insane support. In every match Wolfe was on stream, he brought it, and it appeared in all 3 games of the finals on both sides, and played a vital role for both teams.
I think what’s especially nice is that with say, Cressluna, you are more or less stuck to only using Trick Room, and are in huge trouble if the team you’re up against is great against trick room, but with Freddyraf, they don’t really need Trick Room, as they are both just fast enough to out speed a lot of crucial Pokémon (Urshifu, Ogerpon, Entei, Dragonite, etc) in Tailwind, making it a lot more versatile against a broader range of teams, especially since people are scared to being Tailwind into what could potentially be a Trick Room lead.
It's honestly amazing how far the Girafarig family has come. Going from a general speaking unimpressive and forgettable Pokemon to getting an evolution that has made a name for itself in the competitive world. Johto Pokemon have really come into their own these past few years.
Charlotte was the first event I ever went to, and I had a blast. I didn't compete, I was just there to cheer on some friends and hang at the venue, but it got me really interested in giving VGC a shot. I'm currently trying to build up my first team to try and play and practice on ladder.
I’d argue their roles are too different to really compare. Farigaraf deals more damage, is bulkier, and blocks priority on only one side, but Indeedee blocks priority when it leaves the field, can redirect with Follow Me, and is entirely necessary for Psyspam.
It’s a really good Pokémon in general, but funny enough, a lot of pros argue it’s a good Pokémon going against anti meta teams more than meta teams. In day 1, we saw an insane amount of Flutter on stream, but in day 2, most of the players never brought Flutter, even if it absolutely bodied Pokémon like the ever popular Urshifu Single Strike. Because while it’s good, it loses 1v1 to a lot of really common Pokémon, so people use it more to counter more off meta teams that you’re likely to face in day 1. Weaker anti meta like Scream Tail and Galar Moltres or other Pokémon that have a weird niche get bodied by Flutter Mane’s stats and typing.
I feel like Farigaraf in the older gen 9 formats had the issue of becoming a bit of a dead weight mon, now with much more priority on the field, its viability upsurge was quite predictable to me. Wolfe rediscovering the Throat Spray set takes away the dead weight aspect, as we saw in many of his Charlotte sets that alot of damage added up with those hyper voices.
There was a couple of mentions of Urshifu single strike becoming more popular recently. Can someone tell me what the reasons for that might be? Is there something in the current metagame that its particularly suited to taking on?
I got a #17 cheesesteak at Jersey Mike’s. The line was long as hell, but it was 100% worth it. I had a crappy one at Mellow Mushroom and needed another one to redeem it
You have no idea how vindicated I feel. I have been saying that farigiraf is a fantastic trick room setter/denier since regulation A and people laughed at me. Now that we have even stronger trick room sweepers I have only been proven more right. Went undefeated on ladder with it in multiple regulations.
I kind of miss how only the 1st minute of the video us edited these days. I remember how only 1 video in a while was super edited, but now those videos are super rare :(
Yall hear me out… G-Articuno… Imprison lol this has been sooo hilarious running it on ladder. Soon as I see a trick team, if I have to Tera, I will and click imprison along side Dark urshi
Haven't really been paying attention since USUM but why would you still be running prankster over something like infiltrator (I'm a big fan of whimsicott) Is it cause most prankster is now more for defensive/ own team utility rather than an offensive semi-staller? (If this sounds super ignorant I'm sorry. I mainly just like to breed cute perfect IV pokemon and screw around with them on battle maison or battle tree.) I've been watching your channel a ton btw. If you want an unbiased view I still find it really fun to listen to you even though I haven't paid attention to the competitive seen in a looong while. Still good fun/value. 10/10.
Basically prankster whimsicott has the fastest tailwind in the game with ue ability to stop tornadus tailwind with taunt. It also can lock things into protect with encore, or use fake tears next to a special attacker to get fast KOs. Prankster has been it's best ability in vgc since Iraq got access to the ability.
@@MoxieBoosted Thanks, I guess I made the correct voice when breeding my Whimsicott lol. There's just so much priority counter in the game I feel now. But it's hard to keep up with since there's really no one around I know who plays. Breeding pokemon is ORAS is just my comfort game. There's no better feeling than putting together a team of mons you curated yourself. Even if you'll never play with others. And the beach is so relaxing in that game.
I feel like fargriraf for the most part is not that broken I feel like if you lose to it it’s a skill issue unlike dondoso and tataguri where they become incredibly hard to remove once the opponent finds the right time to fuse them together. The other Mon if you don’t know what you’re doing you will lose to the other mons because it will likely have enough time to trigger trick room. But by itself it’s not that menacing But helping other mons is all you need to be a threat in doubles.
He triggered throat spray by using hyper voice which is also stab and has more base power. And in the end psychic was picking up ko which I think psychic noice might not archive
Been running tsareena just to surprise people in showdown not reading even in my team sheet that it will null the fake outs because they forget it's the OG armour tail, it's kinda fun to do
@@DanielYuStar_Pachirisu_Feet Yeah but it’s slower than Dragonite, so unless you’re running choice scarf, they’ll just OHKO you with Aerial Ace, but then you can’t run wide lens. Dragonite is also the most likely Pokémon to Tera in any given team, so that also doesn’t help.
Farigiraf is definitely my favorite new pokemon from Gen 9 and IMHO the best denial pokemon currently which is how I have mine set up. Armor tail to deny priority, trick room to deny speed such as tailwind and icy wind, imprison to deny other trick room users for speed control and to deny protect, and last move slot can go to psychic fangs to deny screens or the new move psychic noise to deny healing including out right preventing the use of draining moves which is what I have on my Farigiraf now. Farigiraf just looks at the enemy team and just tells them "no".
The true face of Gen 9 VGC. Congrats to Farigiraf for moving the planets to guarrante her sucesss Just shows what happens when you give a pokemon a meaningfull evolution (right Megas?)
Honestly, even as a fan of mega's, if they have decided that they will never bring them back I wish they would just repurpose them into regular evolutions somehow. Make up some lore reason where the mega stones somehow mutated or were modified and now act as evolution stones. (For mones that were not already 3 stages or legendaries, of course.)

Worth noting that it blocks priority without setting up psychic terrain, so your mons can still use priority against your opponent

Armor Tail Trick Room is literally just Indeedee's niche but now you can use priority and Fake Out next to the giraffe and that's pretty neat
That and also Armor Tail is harder to get rid of than terrain

literally just started playing reg f on showdown and keep running into these teams and have been so frustrated thank you for this vid
lol why do we have bloodmoon Ursaluna destroying a wild ditto b roll
What would win, a set of angry legendary mammals who wants to do priority moves, or one goofy giraffe?
Nice, good to know, what if in the next video you talk about why fluttermane is still going strong
