VotV is a "horror game" in the sense that it fully immerses you in the job simulator to the point where things genuinely frighten you.
Even when they shouldn't.
Also it makes people completely insane.
this. i have no real fears, in life or in games, but this ONE little indie project has me shaking. its got an amazing ambience and environment, giggling over argemwell one moment and crying about having to go out at 2am with 25 entities outside

im frightened of the dark, exploring VotV world has me pissing myself from the mannequins, every little sound i hear and i also got a jumpscare the first time i went to sleep, it was grey and scary, i nearly started crying because i didnt know what to do and my boyfriend (who convinced me to download it) just kept laughing at me 😭😭 overall a great game, 10 cosmic chatgirls out of 10

Tips for beginners:
Turn off the food palatability setting in the “E” section of the menu. This makes is so your character never tires of eating the same food. Very useful.
There is a barrel full of MREs hidden inside a log near the entry gate. The best way to take it is using a wire and attaching it to the barrel and your ATV
Your first purchases should be of item boxes and trash bag rolls. This will start slowly, it it will rapidly increase your points. Purchase and item box, and as many trash bag rolls as you can. Bag up as much trash as you can inside the base. Put it in the item box, call the drone, and wait. Use the points to buy another item box and more rolls. Do this another 2/3 times or until you have no more garbage inside you base. Then, purchase an item box and as many trash bags as possible. Then, head to transformer 2. It is full of trash. All of which should be bagged and carried. Sell it in the item box for huge profits.
Your first big purchase should be a Kerfur unit. It will go out and fix servers, which is very useful. Then focus on upgrading your systems, to allow you to make more money per drive. The MRE barrel should keep you full for 25 days. I think it could last another 15 if rationed carefully.
Use sv.target satellite name. This will point your compass to the dish. Dry useful for navigation. Works for transformers as well.
If your reading this, congrats. Here are some intermediate tips
Buy a Woodchipper. Shred all the curtains laying around your base, and wood gibs for supply crates. Bag it up, ship it off in an item box for a nice bonus to your points.
Use the wire that you should have. Go behind the bunker, and throw it onto the keycard through the hole in the back. Reel it in and claim your prize. You can open the first set of bunker doors now.

scary monster system where the monster is only allowed to get so close and avoids exposing itself until to catch it on your FoV, the FoV scarezone decreases in size with each view too so as it gets closer and closer you have a better chance to catch a good look before it scurries off amera to reset for the next approach

For me, Voices of the Void is the best horror game I've ever played. I can't stand jumpscares since I get startled easily, so it's the perfect horror acclimation game for jumpy people. Just... Be cautious when opening a door. Something might be on the other side.
Also, I cannot stress this enough, if you get too tense from just creepy ambience, then turn the game music off. Trust me, it helps.

As a tip you can put a piece of trash or battery into the corners of the door while they are open and they will stay propped open.
Also it goes without saying I absolutely love this game.

Notice to all new players as of version 0.7.0 the base has changed and the tip about moving the map at 8:30 is no longer relevant as the map is now on the proper side.

I didn't know what the "simple puzzle" was asking you to do from looking at it in the video. I looked it up. There's a tutorial in the games main menu that attempts to explain the puzzle before hand but many people were still confused and needed help.
the game is so inmersive it makes you really fear the dark or whats in it, it is so disturbing to feel that something is not right or to see something on the corner of your eye.

But yes, you can absolutely chuck most things into the woodchipper. Wooden chunks, plasic trash, food packaging, mannequins. During a certain spoiler event, you might end up with a lot of flesh chunks - you can grind those down, too.
I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH IM GETTING ADDICTED BUT IM TOO SCARED TO DO ANYTHING THO-
You could play ambiance mode which removes all the spooky stuff. Though if you're like me you probably feel like that goes against the point of the game.
15:30 Another game that's difficult to talk about is Outer Wilds, I definitly recommend it if u want a discovery type game, the DLC is fear centered too.

I think boosting the bass of your microphone would better the video's quality a lot
I had my microphone tuned in and got it perfect for the last video, but between then and now, my microphones picked up a noise that I cannot for the life of me figure out.
Hence why I put that my microphone is dying towards the start of the video. Im hoping to switch to a NT1 and finally toss this 900 year old yeti nano.

I think I crashed it after going full force off the big hill near November coming back from TR 2. Only noticed it after the radar dot didn’t move at all and it correlated with the river on the map
However not all is loss with my reckless driving though: I managed to find a human skull after crashing full force into a tree. I thought the bonus bones that came along with it were mine.
I also dug up a wasp nest sometime later thinking it was some ancient artifact like the slab I found so that was pretty cool
I personally used the purple discs to mainly save time.
Mostly so I could have more time producing drives, until I eventually got a Kerfus, which saved me needing to buy purple discs constantly and saved me from ATV fuel.
Today I learned that you can move the map. I always thought it was a part of the wall...

The server repair minigame was really confusing at first. It took me like 20 minutes to understand how to do it, even while looking stuff up. It should be clearer what to do for negative and double digit numbers. It seems really obvious now, but I was always wondering if I did a calculation or two wrong, trying different methods for getting unselectable numbers (negatives and double digits).
Lighting the mannequins on fire make them chase you now 😢

(Spoilers for the game below) In my first (and still ongoing) playthrough, I did little exploring. I just kept to my routine of scanning signals and leaving the base to go get the hashcodes that Dr. Bao wanted. This enhanced the isolation I felt since I didn't know much of my surroundings except for the paths to and from the satellites.
The only time I went exploring was when I saw the smoke from the alien camp. I tried taking one of there beds and I was quickly jumped by one of them. Needless to say, I avoid going to that part of the map unless I need to go to Victor. The only time I see the camp is when I send Kerfus out to repair and he happens to drive through there.
If you don't take their beds, their space heater, or their camp stove, they mostly leave you alone--except to break into your base and eat all your shrimp, and once in a blue moon prank you by sneaking up and smacking you one. In fact, if you sleep on one of their beds at the camp, they will repay all the shrimp they stole by feeding you pudding cups (Food level goes to 100). Arirals are pretty okay, overall; just don't microwave their plushies.
Also, the pressure washer is there when they've finished building. They don't mind if you borrow that.
After watching CHRBRG play this, and then coming here, I can say for sure that it was made right.
