A lot of reviewers miss the fact that you do not have to press the start button twice to drive the car. What you are all doing wrong is pushing the button so quickly it doesn’t have a chance to respond properly. Push the button and hold it for a half second and everything works on the first try.
It's nice. They should have refreshed the old 2014 to 2019 Fiat 500e more. A little bigger battery and they could have sold it another year or two, The styling was more classic plus hot rod, in spite of limited traction control it was very fast off the line
As far as I can tell, the new Fiat 500e is the only EV on sale in the US that tips the scales at under 3,000 lbs. Still heavy for a car, but really light for an EV.
Cars have never been sold with a price based on size. Features/specs... it seems pretty typical except for range, which of course is a function of the battery size.
@Sylvan_dB price is often related to vehicle size (compare Yaris to a Matrix or Corolla to Camry) especially for non premium vehicles such as this, along with specs and battery size for EVs since battery size is such a large part of total production cost.
@EVBuyersGuide possibly, but even 15% or 20% lower price would still be far too expensive for many buyers based on limited specs for this small city car. The high price for specs and size is the main reason the Smart EV and Mazda EX30 never sold well.
@@jamespaul2587 not really. Compare small vs mid- vs full size truck. Small is unibody and cheap but mid- is only slightly less than feature/tech similar full size. The big price difference is mostly the build - amount of cheap plastic vs soft touch, added features/tech, additional air bags, etc.
You're missing the the big thing here, the 500e is unique and is off the charts for cuteness. lol Yeah it's probably not as good as the mini, but its perfect for what it is, a cute lil city car. If you want something with more range and hp, get a Tesla. I would still choose the 500e for a city car, over the Mini, there is something about it... that just makes me smile. 😊😊
It’s definitely an around town daily gem that you can take a friend to lunch in. Just plan on charging it at home and live the simple life. Hope some least deals get that price down to where it should be. 28:20
Agreed, but it's far too expensive for its low quality interior and limited features, and for its size and range. It would be a great commuter vehicle or 2nd family car for many if it was priced much lower.
My co-worker buddy had the old gen 500e. I had a Smart EV. I could beat him on the range, and price of the lease. After we retired, he leased a model 3, I bought an Audi A3 eTron PHEV. If I were buying new, I would get the Mini. The 500e is overpriced, and I wonder if it will be around in 5 years.
I had an A3 etron myself, great little hatchback. The Mini is closer to that traditional hatchback use case and that's one of the reasons I would lean that direction. -Travis
It's cute, but suffers from the same problems as all Stellantis products post-COVID. It's at least 20% over-priced, uses sub-par materials, and will likely have a poor customer service experience. Stellantis brands consistently score at the bottom in reliability.
Both the 500e and the Mini E are very desirable but they're both over-priced. After all these years of the industry making electric cars, it's still not a viable proposition.

Yes, I wish the convertible was an option here!
Has potential to be a good used EV, especially for young drivers that don't need range.
I could see this living a great second life as a used car but it has to be bought new first. -Travis
True, but with its high price and limited size and range, this will not sell well when new in any substantial numbers in North America.
I saw the "Rear Seat Comfort" section of the video and immediately flipped to that just to see if it was possible for Travis, haha
Cute car, though!
It's what the people want to know 😆 -Travis

Imo it looks adorable. I love how cheeky it looks
Incredible adorable, no argument to the contrary! -Travis
Agreed, I’m sure for some the aesthetic appeal is enough to warrant a purchase decision.
IT ROUND! ❤
So very rounded. -Travis

The small battery goes a long way in that weight equation. -Travis
Mini is barely over 3,000 come I think I'd rather have the Fiat tho
My first car was a 1993 Geo Metro. It had.... 55 horsepower. And it was bigger than this!
Luckily this has much more than 55 horsepower. -Travis
Great personality and a cute car, but priced twice as high as it should be for the size and specs.
Maybe not twice as high but at least 15% too high. -Travis

Cute only goes so far. -Travis
If it only had the rag top like the other 500's, I'd be very interested.
It makes a lot stronger argument for itself with a ragtop. -Travis
Travis, Maybe we should wait for the Fiat 501e.
Not 550e? -Travis
Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste

Travis, the gross and usable battery capacity is reversed on your notes.

Alexa, what’s the opposite of Escalade IQ
Bingo. -Travis
So many little errors in this video, something I would expect from say TFL but not EV Buyers/Alex on Autos.
This 500 a review video is not bad at all. The ones that are the worst are by the Straight Pipes, and Pat and Liz, the Mach-E Vlog people.
Perfect if it can be flat towed. Maybe worth it to put the front up on a tow dolly.

Fiat is just smaller, and not in a good way
