Thanks for the very good video. I’ve had mine for 3 months now and it’s brilliant. No problems at all and fantastic mpg without any range anxiety. My usual commute is around 50 miles and consistently records between 66 and 76 mpg!. Try it you will not be disappointed.
Most of the people who put this car down will never go and test drive it, I did test drive it and it will surprise you how good it really is to the point that I purchased one, great review as always.
@@markcarson8 Absolutely right!! My current car has to take quite heavy loads during my holidays including my electric bike, my clothes and my photographic equipment.
I was between this and the Renault Clio LPG. Ended up going for the Clio instead. But to anyone interested in this car, the driving experience is MUCH better. Only reason I didnt get this instead is that im not 100% sure of the reliability of it for long term use. If this car can do 150K km like a Toyota or a Renault, it should break the market of hybrids
Interesting, thank you for sharing your views, their EV ZS has been on sale since 2017 and their hybrid HS a while too, so it does bode well. Enjoy your Clio, lovely little French number.
Nice review. I really like this car so I've been bingeing videos of it. I learned some new things from each one. There is a guy who is doing tutorials on how to use the more tech aspects of this car. Basically the directional buttons on the right side of the steering wheel can be used for vol +/- when not used to scroll menus. The middle button in those directionals is the 'OK' button that you sometimes need to long press to reset readings.
There are occasions when the car can struggle with power when accelerating uphill IF there's little or no assistance for the petrol engine from the hybrid battery. Perhaps an MG update can sort this problem.
Interesting, we drove this 900 miles and never experienced any power reduction, interesting to hear, and yes that sounds an easy tweak if the odd model experiences this, thank you AJ PS road trip coming soon.
I bought mine in mid July as my daughter passed her test and stole the Mini Cooper. Our main car is a GLE Mercedes. The MG 3 is excellent I don’t know what I was expecting but I really like this car I am 6.3 and find it comfortable and great to drive and best of all it’s great value for money. If you’re in the Market for a great car and a good price definitely try one of these
Im thinking of downsizing from a lovely HS TROPHY to this lovely MG3 HYBRID , could someone advise me at 70yrs that is getting in & out a problem for my arthritic knee's (to low)?.
Yes there is a dealer not too far , unfortunately don't have one to test right now , not very helpful !. I've felt embarrassed before testing various small cars & felt like I was falling to the floor & needing helped back out !
Oh wow, shame you’re not near us, I’d visit with you and provide overwatch and assistance 😀 let’s hope a reply comes in soon and thank you for replying.
Fascinating review Ben on what looks to me a cracking motor with a perfectly balanced hybrid powertrain that thinks for itself. I think MG with their technology advances will have a second coming in the UK come the revolution.
Hi George, great to hear from you again (Annabelle here) We both really enjoyed our time in this, and travelling 900 odd miles in it really gave us a Birds Eye view on what’s changed. Thank you!
I'm new to your channel but as someone who knows next to nothing about cars, this was brilliantly and expertly presented. Even a fool could follow.... And here I am! 😂 Fantastic job🇬🇧
Good review .the mg is not a bad looking car . From a side view and in red you might mistake it for a alfa Romero .i love super minis its on par with new generation Suzuki swift which is around same price
The best small car is obviously the suzuki Swift 😉😜 (but seriously the best hybrid small car is, after all these years, still the toyota yaris) But on the subject of this video, a nice package for a good price. And it has a lot of power! 😅 But I am a bit underwhelmed by the efficiency / gas mileage of the hybrid system and it's 3 speed gearsystem.
Yeah, we get it. Compare this to the Swift and it’s pretty close, and the economy? We found it rather good. Mind you, I bet the efficiency is a touch better than your modded version! Talking of that, how is your modded version?
@@PlanetautoUK we have yaris cars here at the university campus, the average consumption is 3.2 liter per 100 km in summer, the MG is not quite there yet. But, the MH does cost a lot less here in Holland than a Toyota! The Swift is doing a great job at being my pride and joy 😊 My average is about 4.7 liter per 100 km, so not bad at all! I use the eco mode on my pedal box quite a lot. Sport is for weekend fun 😉 It is fun to surprise people with it's speed and cornering.
@yashchirka4060 ok, I keep seeing Yaris GR here, I must drive one 😀 it just staggers me it’s 200bhp - your Swift sounds immense 🛻🛞 proper Wolf in Sheep’s clothing 😆
This review seems to be a bit too positive, when compared to other reviews. Still a good video though. I prefer dark interiors, it's comfortable to the eye.
Quite a nice little car. But little is the operative word!! Probably has a tiny boot for holidays!! It’s probably a very good little car for everyday use, but not for me!!
Define extreme emergency, as I drove 900 miles and had to do a few emergency stops from say 70 to 10, and that hesitance would be more than noticeable Geoff.
The Chinese brand Geely sells cars in Malaysia since 2017 under the Proton name. So far there's no problems at all with reliability, cars have been holding up well. Never really heard of quality issues. The only complaints owners have were with the availability of spare parts in the early days of Geely in Malaysia, mostly owners who were in some sorts of accidents. Been reading extremely negative comments from Brits and Europeans on Chinese cars, mostly stemmed from ignorance and racism I guess. Can see how one is rising and the other one is declining.
@teofilol2666 yes it’s a funny old world here it was the same with Korean and still is to a point, but China are the new target, sadly. I’ve driven one Geely powertrain and it was pretty good 😊
Looks like a 208? I was test driving another marque at a mg dealers and had a look round mg models the interior felt superior to the 2018 honda I tested.
Yes, it does have a similar silhouette, just more rounded than the 208. Yes, MG have upped their game in pretty much all aspects. It's going to be interesting to watch the MG brand continue to evolve. Thank you, @volt8684.
I hear that there putting in a split rear seats in the near future do you no if this true ,secondly you are 6ft 2 did you find the seat height Good and you didn't find to low to get in and out of .
Ooo, il see what I can find out, no the height was fine, and I found it easy to get in both the front and the back, and I’m 6ft 3 😀 18st ish - thank you David
Thanks,it's the back seats is holding holding me back a bit ,but also there laughing the new zs hybrid soon I believe so I want to wait and see what that's like , and look forward to your unbiased review on it .before I commit myself.
Another thing against it as far as I’m concerned is that there’s a blinking petrol engine in there!! I drive electric cars rather than using a petrol engine to charge my electric motor!!
It does well with its chosen powertrain, I don’t think they’ll release a PHEV, many people still aren’t open to charging when something like this gives good economy without it. Thank you David

Yes, I will never understand that train of thought, it is very good in so many ways, thank you Mark, which colour have you chosen?
Ordered blue but it wasn’t on show, when I went back it was too bright for me so went for silver.
Oh nice, I think that’s the best colour, understated 😀
@@markcarson8 Absolutely right!! My current car has to take quite heavy loads during my holidays including my electric bike, my clothes and my photographic equipment.

Well, it seems that MG, as we call it, is making proper MGs again!!
They’re making everything, quite literally.
One of the favourite Superminis
Totally agree with you. Thank you, Jamie.
Had mine since 4th may, Trophy model in Battersea Blue, still loving it
Lovely, and a very MG colour, great to hear - our road trip to celebrate the Centenary at Goodwood is coming soon 😀

Road trip coming soon 😀
@@PlanetautoUKlooking forward to that. By the way what is your opinion on the yellow colorway of the mg3 hybrid?
@GusoGamingDota2 I loved yellow in the first MG3 - it was my favourite
The looks grow on you , but once you drive it you'll love it , great mpg & capability ......
That’s our thoughts, thank you for sharing your experience Lachcris
Great review! I like the styling and new power train!

It looks a bit like the Hyundai i10. Certainly not a car that I would choose if there was a decent alternative!!

Now its chinese you wonder how reliability is over years to come.

Sounds like a hybrids not for you
Its hardly a hybrid, it can only cover a tiny distance on electric, could do with a 1l engine to keep the weight down.
Well, it gets 70mpg now and with a similar engine minus hybrid system it used to get 35mpg on a very good day.
