@@kenmcclow8963 Well the fact is battery packs don't last, no one in America will repair the cells (there's only ONE shop in Bulgaria doing that as of 2024) and he DID pay $700 for a Fiat 500e. Those are the facts. It's just sad that there is no reasonable used car market for these EVs after only 10 years.
@@624radicalham there are a number of shops that repair or replace battery modules and cells. There is Gruber Motors and Electrified Garage that Rich Rebuilds owns with multiple locations, but there are a number that I don’t know the names of. I was listening to an interview with one guy in the south suburbs of Seattle just a few days ago. There are probably aren’t enough considering the number of older cars that will be having original batteries die. However it’s also a limited issue because newer batteries are meant to last a million miles compared to the early 2010’s cars which die after 10-15 years. The 2013-2019 Fiat might not have a aftermarket battery replacement like the first Leaf’s did. Fiat made it fairly clear they didn’t want to sell those cars and only made them because California wouldn’t let them sell pickup trucks otherwise. My 2015 Tesla got totaled because it was eight years old and the car had two refreshes, so the parts for mine were getting rare. My battery was fine and probably ended up in some other car, but for lack of radiator brackets it was done in.
I think fiat has hit a home run with this 500e, especially if they bring a cabrio out that’s affordable , they’ll sell as many as they make . I’m looking for an open air electric car here in South Carolina and this if it’s affordable that’s less than 35,000 it’ll sell!
A car dealer near me imported dozens of these California 500e to sell them in our country. He told me that these sold terribly in the states and were never meant to be really used by people. They just had to be sold to meet Californian laws.
This is such a good car, people bash it too much but if you already have a big SUV this kind of tiny efficient car is a great addition, only problem is the price being a bit too high to justify it over a dirt cheap used Leaf or something of that sort.
Another great video from Roman and the TFL team, packed allot into it. Look forward to a deeper dive on the battery. What battery chemistry and curious about bidirectional charger. Next time getting some matching red shoes. 😅
can you tell me any electric car on the market today that is below $25,000 ?? and remember those are made in Italy with very good workmanship, quality, reliability. I know they are reliable, i own a 2022 jeep renegade made in italy, very very reliable trouble free for almost a year, not a single issue. The inspirational nomad here in youtube has over 200,000 miles on a renegade and its still on the road.
Anyone that thinks that a good value for that car has some mental issue! There’s no way that car is worth $32k and only gives 149 miles. You can get a Chevrolet bolt for $26,500 same size if not bigger gives you 259 miles or you can step up to the bolt EUV that’s definitely bigger then that fiat for $27,800 and gives you 247 miles of range. Stelantis products are complete garage!
@@jeanmenieur So? That doesn't mean they're always in stock when the Fiat 500 is still sold. If they do then they must not be as good as you say they are. Otherwise they'd be selling out of them.
@ducktails1695 GM will bring it back in 2025. But ok, forget about the Bolt EV. Take a look at the Model 3: they start at $39k. When they become eligible for the point of sell tax credit the price will drop to $31,500. It makes no sense to buy a Fiat 500e at $32.5k when there are better options out there🙃.
If it had a range of about 225-240 I would consider replacing my 2013. If they could push the the battery up to about 52kw.....then it would be good for the states.
I've driven a 2018 500e for about two and a half years now. I had to stop watching this video. The 1st generation 500e was introduced in 2013, not "2015-ish" (I'm looking at a 2013 on CARFAX as I type) and had a battery pack running the entire underside of the vehicle, not "just in the back". Many of the reviews of the 1st gen 500e said it handled better than the ICE version because of the battery placement and low center of gravity. How is the head of Fiat NA so wrong about their own car?
2024 Fiat 500 City car RRP: From £15,774 Dimensions: 3,571 mm L x 1,627 mm W x 1,488 mm H Horsepower: 51 kW Kerb weight: 980 kg Fuel tank capacity: 35 L Max speed: 103.8 mph
Yes, when they are going for the familiar profile of the 500. It is just like a Miata that fits a smaller amount of people. Not every car has to be for everyone.
14-19 - if they upped it to at least 100mi range, it would have been a major improvement in practicality. The 0-60 doesn't explain the performance, 0-40 mph is exciting. Mine has been super reliable. 6"2"" plenty xtra headroom.
The range is similar to a base model Gen2 Nissan Leaf (2018+) with 40 kWh battery. And you can buy one of them for around 15k, not going to be as cramped. Agree that the Fiat is cute, but cute doesn't mean a lot.
New Leaf is also very comfortable, better than most Nissans. Even the interior quality is higher in the Leaf, which is a very old model by modern standards
I like the product but for one thing - over the air updates. Thus means the potential to remotely brick the car. If they can prove the ECU/ECM can’t be remotely touched (almost impossible) then I’d consider it. The price isn’t really that bad at a 5 year amortization.
I started my journey through FIATdom why selling them, with a new 1974 128 2 door, then a 131, then a 124Spider, followed by some unfortunately unreliable Alfa Romeos... until a 2018 FIAT Abarth 500... that was a fun car as I was selling them again for that year. Now I saw a European 500e Abarth is on sale in the UK. Any chance of it coming here?
Stellantis, EV strategy in NA, shows no appreciation for NA sensibilities. For example to sell the tiny rounded Fiat 500e, but not the slightly larger boxerJeep Avenger in NA is illogical. Is one of many examples.
no, quite the contrary, that price is very reasonable considering the equipment you get, and how the car is beautiful, electric and dont forget the italian cachet, just like italian women, they are the best looking girls,
IDK why people STILL to this day expects vehicles to be in the upper teens to lower $20,000 range. Those days have long passed and if you do happen to see one it's an absolute POS.
@@mixedbyfiatcat Not for a car that is a 2 seater and only gets 150 miles of range. My ID4 was only $6k more than this, Bolt EUV was $4k less. The 500e is not priced well for the non cult followers of this car.
at that price it's going to flop, given the range and size. i first leased a 2015 fiat 500e because it was $90 a month and $0 down, and then bought a used one for $7000 a few years later. i loved both, never any issues.
Old one kinda sucked, new one kinda sucks. I'd rather have the F56 MINI SE. 114mi vs 149mi isn't a huge difference, at least have it be well built and not so slow. You can get those pretty cheap used or heavily discounted on lease. Classy little thing instead of whatever 500e is trying to do. I am also salty because at the time of the original 500e (then FCA) didn't care about it, want to service, or maintain these things. It had DCFC in mules, removed before launch. Infotainment was trash, plagued with dead modules. Their app and telematics literally had a 3 year time limit with no option to renew. It used a bespoke CAN system that made any kind of diagnostic temperamental. Repair parts were insanely expensive. It was also built like the after thought compliance EV it was. Not the kind of company I'd give money to twice.
Well I have a 2014 500e with 80,000 miles and other than a wheel bearing it’s been nearly perfect in terms of reliability. The Bosch designed battery is over 10 years old now and still doing great with minimal range lost so I say they did a good job with the old model. Not many EV’s can say the same. Hopefully the same will be true for this new one.
The worst insult I ever heard is that I look like I would drive a Mini or Fiat. Fiat has a huge image problem in the US. These are lifestyle cars. Not actually practical daily drivers to most folks. All I see driving these cars are old men and a few women. There was one kid in the area who straight piped his.
Didn’t finish the video as I lost interest. Looks like a good car for a 16 year old girl. Any price over 20k is wasted money. Sadly, a Leaf or Bolt is the line in the sand.

I love how they’re just pushing the old school 500 around
I think fiat has hit a home run with this 500e, especially if they bring a cabrio out that’s affordable , they’ll sell as many as they make . I’m looking for an open air electric car here in South Carolina and this if it’s affordable that’s less than 35,000 it’ll sell!
Did he say the navigation is powered by Tom Tom? Wow I forgot about that company.
I hope they've updated their system because in the past there were several states that didn't work with Tom Tom such as rural Wisconsin.
When do these go on sale
Another great video from Roman and the TFL team, packed allot into it. Look forward to a deeper dive on the battery. What battery chemistry and curious about bidirectional charger. Next time getting some matching red shoes. 😅
What did you use to record the video? It was pretty stuttery.
That’s ridiculous I wouldn’t pay more then $20,000 for that. $32,500 is insane
Dude said it was a great price... then went on to say it's only good for 149mi lol they're in Ford Lightning Territory with that price
can you tell me any electric car on the market today that is below $25,000 ?? and remember those are made in Italy with very good workmanship, quality, reliability.
$25k was the magic number. $32.5k is too expensive, considering you can get a well equipped Bolt EV for probably less...
The Chevy Bolt is discontinued so no, you can't.
@@ducktails1695 they still have 2023 models in stock.
@@jeanmenieur Just keep moving that goal post around....
I didn't hear if it was front or rear wheel drive??
The previous generation was front wheel drive, so I'd expect this one to be as well.
FWD.
If it had a range of about 225-240 I would consider replacing my 2013. If they could push the the battery up to about 52kw.....then it would be good for the states.
They get some points for not having a goofy mechanical gear selector for an EV like some of the other brands.
Bring the 500e abarth cabrio over to the US please
I’m with you. No Abarth trim, no sale.
Why did they remove the 3rd door?
Federal regulations don't allow it I believe was the answer in a different review where it was mentioned.
I loved my fiat 500E. Might have to treat myself to a new one
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Roman pretty tight huh. Can’t wait to see Roman getting in and out of the Porsche.

Wait. They sell a petrol model in Europe, yet I think he said there was no more petrol model. Is that a continuation of the previous model?
My 6 ft frame says i never will even if they gave it to me, is it THAT hard to make a small car with leg room and a taller roof line.
Love it - only thing it’s missing is J3400! 🎉
I like the product but for one thing - over the air updates. Thus means the potential to remotely brick the car. If they can prove the ECU/ECM can’t be remotely touched (almost impossible) then I’d consider it. The price isn’t really that bad at a 5 year amortization.
Hackers Remotely Kill a Jeep on the Highway - 2015
very nice! needs cabrio, abarth horsepower, and 250 miles of range.
"Good things are not new, and new things are not good". Gioachino Rossini.
I didn’t know “American” was a language. 😂
Can’t wait for the convertible version to be available. I’ll buy one!!
Tell this Stellantis exec that it’s either the Abarth version or nothing for many of us……bring the Abarth here now!!
Love it.
Cheers guys
They sell maybe 10k of these a year if they are lucky. Warm climate city cars are what these are
So almost everywhere because we are at the end of this ice age. The 50-70 degree Chicago winter this year was quite nice.
@@davidmccarthy6061 yeah, but we also had temperatures near zero too. It's just more bipolar now
I do feel as a city the original 500e would really hold up for just small trips and stuff
If they came out with a RWD/AWD I would be very interested.
Ask him why Fiat NA decided to scrap the 124 spider and leave us with no dealership support
Bring the 24' ABARTH GAS Model to the USA!
Looks like a go-kart.
A really ugly one
Go-Kart(s) are fun.
Every Ram 1500 comes with a free 500e.
I thought that Fiat was done in North America YEARS ago ...are you telling me they're STILL AROUND!?!?
This will be made in Serba where Yugo was made.
Stellantis, EV strategy in NA, shows no appreciation for NA sensibilities.
For example to sell the tiny rounded Fiat 500e, but not the slightly larger boxerJeep Avenger in NA is illogical. Is one of many examples.
34k is insanity
no, quite the contrary, that price is very reasonable considering the equipment you get, and how the car is beautiful, electric and dont forget the italian cachet, just like italian women, they are the best looking girls,
IDK why people STILL to this day expects vehicles to be in the upper teens to lower $20,000 range. Those days have long passed and if you do happen to see one it's an absolute POS.
Update. Stelantis is considering a hybrid propulsion for Fiat 500 as EV sales are collapsing.
When it adopts nacs sae 3400 it’ll be so much better!!
They should've kept the 2nd gen 500 electric, scandalously we didn't get it in Europe
umm 32grand? you know bolts euv like almost 300 miles and same price more room... 500e need to be no more than 25... price competition wise.
The Bolt is discontinued...So it doesn't really compete anymore.
Not for $32k . $22k, yes.
How about 24.5K after the credit? Even thousands less than that in some states.
@@davidmccarthy6061 Correct me if I am wrong, but Fiat does not qualify for the $7500 federal tax credit.
avg. car price is $50k these days.
@@gregpochet4812 if you lease it, you will get tax credit.
@@mixedbyfiatcat Not for a car that is a 2 seater and only gets 150 miles of range. My ID4 was only $6k more than this, Bolt EUV was $4k less. The 500e is not priced well for the non cult followers of this car.
They need to import into Jacksonville Port… or Tampa
I dont like them. An indian scout is way cooler and its just missing a roof
Just take my money !
They need to sell the electric Abarth in north America
1:13 Cracking little old car
More range to allow the owner to have a better chance of getting back to the dealer for repair.
It's about 10k too expensive. Put the gas motor back in it.
sorry, they are priced very very reasonably
at that price it's going to flop, given the range and size. i first leased a 2015 fiat 500e because it was $90 a month and $0 down, and then bought a used one for $7000 a few years later. i loved both, never any issues.
The All-New 2021 Fiat 500e Is Now Bigger And It Has THIS Much More Range!
87 miles is good enough to get back and forth to work and maybe one stop...dude how far are you driving!?
Soon we start our 50000km European Tour in a 53 year old Fiat 500R, check it out!!!
Ok, but why would you buy this when a base Model 3 only costs $3.5k more?
You will get some discounts!I can buy one here in Europa for around $25k if i am looking for the best deal!
@@brunoheggli2888 maybe a discount after depreciation, but owners can’t apply for the federal tax credits because it’s built in europe.
A lot of fools dropped in to trash a car they know nothing about
Old one kinda sucked, new one kinda sucks.
Lol 35-40k for 150 miles when you have a used Nissan Leaf under 15k for the same range 😅. That battery is pretty "big" for a low range
Hmmm I didn’t even know Fiat still sold cars in the US.
$32k!? No way it's worth that much. Maybe if a used one can be found for less than $10k in a year or two it might be worth it. Or a dirt cheap lease
It's called 500e everywhere bro, not used in the uneducated USofA!
FIAT - Fix It Again Tony
Dur dur dur.....FIAT is junk durrrrr
Vegan leather aka plastic/vinyl
The worst insult I ever heard is that I look like I would drive a Mini or Fiat.
Fiat has a huge image problem in the US. These are lifestyle cars. Not actually practical daily drivers to most folks. All I see driving these cars are old men and a few women. There was one kid in the area who straight piped his.
People were smaller.
Just needs a lil more range 😭
Didn’t finish the video as I lost interest. Looks like a good car for a 16 year old girl. Any price over 20k is wasted money. Sadly, a Leaf or Bolt is the line in the sand.
the bolt is so much cheaply made, no comaprison with that super 500e, its like sun and moon
