On the subject of how many golf balls to carry, for years I must have had 20 golf balls in my bag and there were two reasons for doing that. First, I didn't want to have to fool around restocking my bag after every round because I wasn't playing often enough, nor was I good enough to care or worry about it. Second, I kept a sandwich bag of 3 or 4 'junk' balls or found balls that I would use on water holes, in case I put my drive into the water. My game improved vastly over the past 2 seasons, to the point that I didn't have to carry junk balls anymore but I still like to keep more than enough, for the same reason as before. I just don't always have time to check how many I have before playing because I often go out at the last minute. Just one man's opinion :)
i always find a lot more than i lose... but i was very proud of myself the first time i ever used the same ball for all 18 holes.. i still have that ball saved on a shelf in my living room... hahaha
I lost 9 at Manchester Golf Club ! 😢 Had to borrow a couple... Not a course for high handicappers - many holes need an accurate drive from the tee of 100+ yds to avoid the ball-swallowing rough.

Hi Matt. Enjoying your videos down here in Australia. I use a clear plastic bag for my tees, markers, divot tools etc. That way I can see exactly what I have.
Very good points, and basically what I carry with the exception of carrying 9 balls versus 6.I don't normally lose balls except on water holes so I want at least one sleeve more.. My bag is also a 6 way top .Thing is I only carry 11 clubs .Other than that I arrange things for convience with my tee's, 1 or 2 balls, my divot tool and ball marker in the upper small side pocket. There is a large compartment that runs the length of the bag for a light jacket, and a pouch with my keys, wallet and phone .Pens and pencils have a small space as does a place for water. My golf balls and gloves have their own compartment as well. As to the clubs, they go in order with 2 clubs in each sleeve with the putter and retriever in the bottom compartment.

All this and the top rotates 360 degrees to make Club access easier. Been using them for 20 years.
Thanks for the video as always. I've always wondered about the arrangement of the clubs and what is considered "right" or "normal". I carry mine with the longer clubs in the front (bottom) compartment. This way when the bag is standing (leaning) I can get to and see the shorter clubs easier. I don't have to wade through the longer clubs to get to my irons, and I see them more clearly. I would be interested in learning the rationale behind the conventional arrangement. Thanks 🙏

Love my carry bag way more than my cart bag, even though my cart bag is nicer... My cart bag is now the stand for spare clubs, balls, umbrellas etc at home. Carry bag has 6 slots... Putter right at the top in the big slot along with alignment sticks if I have them with me, then driver in the first RH slot, then 3w & 3h in the LH, 4-5-6 next down on RH, 7-8-9 on LH, then bottom RH is PW-50 and LH is 54-58. Probably should get a pouch for the tees etc, I'm forever hunting for new ones lol
I use a 14 slot cart bag as I have graphite shafts. I've heard they can get dinged in a lesser-slot bag. Is that true or an old wive's tale? BTW, I live in SoCal, so I carry a poly vest for chilly mornings (like today) but no rain gear. Around here, we don't play in the rain.
I pick up every ball I see in the woods even if I find my own. Even if I show up with 6 I leave with 25. I probably have 50+ in my bag right now. I hit basically anything that’s not a pro v1 or a chrome soft at the range if I run out of range balls and want to hit a couple more
This is a very important video. One suggestion I have is to put your gloves in a zip lock bag. Keeps them nice, fresh, and dry. I also carry a waterproof bucket hat, very important. I personally value my bag more than anything and it is the most important piece of equipment I own; Sun Mountain 4.5 4 slot. Having the right amount of pockets and storage is critical. That way I have everything organized, I know where everything is and all I have to worry about is playing my game. The only trouble I have now and days is too many golf balls. I do not lose that many, but I do find a lot. I need to remember to unload them.
I will say this some of the best rounds I've played have been with either range balls I collect from the woods of a driving range I pass by on my way home from work or balls that I have found in the woods lol
I'm still quite new to the game so play a mix of new and found balls, so I tend to carry 2 found balls max in my pocket and play whatever I'm playing. If I find others I leave them for other people. Keeps me ready to rehit a lost ball off the tee, or if I need to take a drop somewhere... I cannot stand slow play when someone hasn't got a spare ball with them lol
Instead of carrying several dozen wooden Tees, I like to use plastic Tees which never break and can be used for dozens and dozens of rounds of golf and I really like the plastic "Martini" Tees which some have a ridge for the perfect height of the Driver- They never break and the only way you'll need more is if you lose it in the Tee box area or if you forget it and leave it in the ground...I carry 2 or 3 Tees and it takes up no space in my bag...
Excellent funny and good. Love the part about six golf balls. Towel wrapped around the clubs while walking is a good lesson for youngsters To learn the courtesy of walking quietly
I have two problems with this setup: 1. Why would you put your ball markers (or anything else) in the same little bag, especially an opaque bag, with your tees? Put the tees in the bag, and leave the ball markers, divot tool, etc in the same pocket, but outside of the bag for easy retrieval. 2. If you're carrying your clubs, you should put your woods on bottom, long irons above that, and short irons/wedges/putter above that. The club head covers should be long enough to keep the long irons from damaging the driver/wood shafts (and the short irons won't reach far enough to touch them), and this also keeps your irons from clanging together while you walk, but most importantly, it makes it much easier to pick a club while the bag sits there.
At 64, I’m getting a little older. I am using a Tour Trek 360. Do you have thoughts or suggestions to share in regards to push carts? I’m in pretty good shape and walk two or four rounds a week.
I carry 3 new balls and 6 of the scuffed up ones. If I get to the point that I have lost the 3 new balls, then things are not going well and I don't feel as bad losing the scuffed ones.
Even if I haven't lost any balls. If I'm hitting over any water....the scuffed ones come out. It's a mental thing. I won't lose the scuffed ball. But if I hit the new ball- I can guarantee you I'm topping the ball right into the drink.
Thanks for the clarification...my only issue is 6 balls is too few. I will be spending half the time looking for balls rather than playing, which I am sure will make my playing partners really happy.
Hi -- what about making a video on why you use glove and why anyone should use a glove. I play without a glove, hav no calluses, and, considering that grips are "grippy" those days still have not understood why gloves are really necessary...
I like carrying as little as possible, I only carry 7 clubs, I just can't get to the no glove Club, I've tried, it's just easier to take a light grip with the glove on. I've tried Gorilla Grip, it's good stuff, but kinda nasty when shaking hands 🤣

The only thing I disagree with is the drivers/woods on top. I put them on the bottom because they are longer. On top, they somewhat block your access to the others!

Bought my son a Ridge Wallet because of your vid.
What a helpful video! Definitely think you need more than 6 balls though - think I lost at least that many this past weekend.
if you lose more than 1 golf ball per 18 then your a below average golfer.
Stealth Matt. I couldn’t hear you coming. I was hoping you’d say “ lose six golf balls take six lessons”. Love ya brother Matt.
Fun little video Matt, I'm looking to do a WITB series soon and this format is a great inspiration.
I know it is tabu, but i still use iron covers to keep them from banging around and making a lot of noise.
Well done. Much better information than golf monthly's video.
I'm 60 and like the CaddyTek 4 wheel V8, it's light and has 1 click folding; can usually find it new for $200 ish and cheaper used on Ebay.
clicgear or bag boy carts are best
Also, love the length of this content. You get to it!
this man has it all figured out
If you ever want to do a video with a subscriber I would love too! Huge fan, love the videos and also in North GA!
Keep it up man
I could not agree more about your theory on needing more than 6 balls! If you’re losing that many, play 9 holes or FIND what you need!😮
Great video, thanks.
I always carry some energy or candy bars especially if im playing 18 holes...
Another great video! Keep up the content. I love the way you just tell it like it is.
You can also use iron coverings, everybody loves iron coverings.
Great vid man 👍
Thank you for the content I am a super noob but love the game
Damn Matt I thought I was the only who put my bag together like that. Even down to the walking and keeping your clubs from making noise.
I quit carrying when I hit 60 but I still walk (except for outings or cart mandatory courses).
That’s a great set up but I’m not walking ever🤣🤣😂😂
Love the video! What degree are your wedges? Thanks!
Underrated channel!!
Thanks for the clarification...my only issue is 6 balls is too few. I will be spending half the time looking for balls rather than playing, which I am sure will make my playing partners really happy.
Thanks man that really helped me a lot
very good vid! i lost 6 on one hole the other day, idk about 6 balls i need 60
Great video - even better to watch at 1.25x speed
Thanks, Matt! Love your content brother!
Bad ass setup. Always liked your clubs.
Hey Mr. Short Game what gives? On your review of best carry bags you picked Mizuno and Ping was second place. What happened?
Hi -- what about making a video on why you use glove and why anyone should use a glove. I play without a glove, hav no calluses, and, considering that grips are "grippy" those days still have not understood why gloves are really necessary...
I like carrying as little as possible, I only carry 7 clubs, I just can't get to the no glove Club, I've tried, it's just easier to take a light grip with the glove on. I've tried Gorilla Grip, it's good stuff, but kinda nasty when shaking hands 🤣
What about the cigars, cutter, and lighter? And most importantly, the flask?
I love your videos Mr Short Game Golf!
Hi Matt, just curious what is your current driver set up?
long clubs, driver etc should go on the bottom. Put them on top which is traditional and they block the other clubs.
Loving your videos, are you still using the Mizuno K1 Lo golf bag?
Is this the short bus golf channel? I am by no means a genius but I figured out how to arrange my golf bag golf bag when I was 10 years old without any instruction. I guess the next video will be How To Lace Up and Tie Your Golf Shoes.
Lol….i actually looked this up..! Bought a used set long ago, Callaway. Recently updated, Callaway. Complete set, so new bag. I wanted to see if there was something I’ve never thought of…lol Guess I’m still 10…..!
What kind of advise would u have for someone that is or will a beginner
The only thing I disagree with is the drivers/woods on top. I put them on the bottom because they are longer. On top, they somewhat block your access to the others!
if you put them on the bottom the weight distribution if you carry is terrible.
@@reaganbaker32006 I played in HS and never minded carrying this way. But I haven't walked in years 😎 lmao
i might be missing it, but what is the link to the PING bag? Thank you.
LOL, 6 balls. I lose 6 on the front 9. I carry as many as I can. Great video as always.
