£16k is good, but lower is always better
Fr 16k or under i will definitely buy it
I bet you don't!
Would buy BYD Seagull if it comes to Australia.
The ZDM Seagull probably already meets Euro NCAP standards as-is. The length also increases competitiveness by being in a larger segment. It's easier to compete on value as a B-class than an A-class.
WRT battery cooling, for a midmarket car, yes, you need it; however, for entry level cars with small batteries, it's not really necessary. By the time the battery pack on the base model is out of warranty, you'll be able to swap in a smaller, cheaper, lighter pack with greater capacity.
The issue here is the headline price of £8000 for the Chinese model is unfathomable to us in the UK, so yes if it was £8000 then pretty much everyone over the age of 17 would buy one but sadly the reality is it will be 50%+ for the 'western version', then there will be import tariffs, then we have 20% VAT, then there will some other add ons. I would be amazed if this car is realistically below £20k, and not surprised if the reality is closer to £25k OTR.
Will the BYD Seagull come to Australia?
Let's hope. We really lack affordable small/mid sized EVs to replace Corolla market.
I'd probably buy one, but depends on seat comfort
USD 15k would be a perfect price. This will typically be a car #2 and, in my case, replace my current e-Up. Remember - taxes will be added in most countries.
Awesome. The E-up is amazing too. If you ever place and order for the Seagull, let me know :)
tres bonne nouvelle, merci BYD !
Good news! 😊
It was about time they announced it :)
Will the US Government allow it?
Niiiiiice. (UK)
We need to reign in NCAP. These "safety" systems are NOT safe.
Making a driver distraction MANDATORY when the system is clearly fallible, is insane. I've test-driven a number of new cars recently, including the MG4, their lane detection is only of use on clearly marked motorways, but is frankly dangerous on pot-hole ridden A & B roads with faded or no markings.
The speed detection is just as bad, failing to see correct speed signs, detecting temporary limits or signs from adjacent roads. Not reliable at all. Some cars at least, have BUTTONS to disable these systems.
An NCAP requirement to have these should also include a button or voice command to turn them off. Or an option to LEAVE them off.
Grand
I will buy one, if interested is 0%
Will it be a complete car with effective EJFJ Cumulative Cleverness (improved AI like MONA and Xpeng)?
Ten minutes of a talking head and very few shots of a car that could rival the Honda electric thingy that dropped without a trace…..
It’s all well and good being online bullshitters (“I’ll buy one mistah”) but the reality of being able to dig into one’s pocket, or PCP it, is far removed from the idle UA-cam bantah……
Chinese price should be world wide price. Would not pay more than £10k. Maybe the Leapmotor T03 will come to the UK & more friendly price. If not then its another ICE car !
You're not getting China prices anywhere that's full of excessive regulations like EU and Australia. They are forced to have so much extra junk that nobody wants and that increases prices.
The price is caused by British Government Taxes and Tariffs.
❤
I would but, after seeing China Uncensored publication of the least reliable cars in China, and BYD being down the bottom of the list, I won't be rushing into a purchase
China Uncensored is Falun Gong's media outlet. It's a cult.
China uncensored? You mean one of the most notorious China smearer? Among China fact chaser, China Observer and a bunch of channels start with 'China'. Seriously, we need better naming conventions for smear campaigns.
China Uncensored is total trash.
China uncensored is one of the anti China youtubers... they are obviously not reliable source
It’ll cost > £24k
you get what you pay for - looks like a WISH deal to me.
This should be a suitable replacement for the VW Eup/ Skoda Citigo EV and Seat Mii electric trio and join the ranks of some of the most practical EV's ever built.
Brilliant news! I'd buy one 🥰
Meh, I thought they will start selling in 2024 in Europe. This is a huuuge delay.
Hope they also do these changes:
1. Splitted back seats. Small cars !!MUST!! have this feature- I have Daihatsu Sirion 2007 - and I can take 2 people with me + I can fold 1/3 backseat and take big suitcases or like i had a situation - small table and 2 hairs, or a big suitcase and bicycle. (with the driver and two adults)
Normally My car could take barely 1 bigger suitcase in the back and small bag. With that folding option i can take like 3 bigger ones with no problem. Really great feature
2. rear wiper - also very cheap and good way to improve safety
3. With like 2 years of 'delay' they really should put the newest tech inside like that blade battery 2.0 and maka better DC/AC charging capabilities.
PS I thought they started selling this car in Europe? In Moldova?
Reference the liquid cooling of the batteries, why do you believe companies that make money from selling cheap cars wouldn't want to design the car/battery to only last about 100-200k miles and then you need to think about buying another one?
Why only Seagull ? Why not all BYD models ? Consumers should have more choices.
The BYD Seagull has been on sale for almost a year in Chile, Uruguay, etc. for $24,000 for the model with the highest battery capacity. It is widely used in Uber, corporate fleets, etc.
It has not yet reached the United Kingdom and Europe because there are unstable tariff barriers mixed with political interests. I feel sorry for the consumers in these countries who have to pay more for taxi services, light logistics services, etc.
I will buy if it’s the same price you can buy it for in China
Lane Keep assist that jerks the wheel to put you back in the lane is a Safety Hazard. Any Road condition that is slippery and or of Limited Space means the car can slide into Traffic if you lose control or into whatever is on the side of the road or lane next to you. It should come with the ability to set what you want. As usual Cars start crashing but until people die and a class action happens it probably won't change as Business Rules Government.
The seagull… nothing quite says the high end of luxury motoring like a seagull…
If you expect luxury for that money... well I don't need to tell you anything else, do I?
Where is the service centre?...i know the local dump.
