  • FINALLY! I have been wanting to do this since before even buy an X5M: painting the calipers Estoril Blue. BMW started doing this to all its M cars in 2013 at the end of the E70's run and beginning with the F10 M5. Unfortunately, the paint code for the caliper paint is an internal Brembo code, not a universal code. Some dedicated forum members figured out that Estoril is about as close as you can get to the factory brake color.
G2 does make a brush on kit in Estoril Blue, but it's expensive and two kits are required to cover these huge brakes. I could also buy Estoril touch up paint, but I found a better option. Rustoleum makes a metallic blue paint that matches Estoril perfectly! I will be using a high temperature primer and clear coat with the standard metallic paint sandwiched between them. It won't be as good as using a high temp pain, but for a non track car, I think it should work nicely. I will also be using some high temp vinyl decals as well. They turned out AMAZING and really transformed the car. I couldn't be happier.

*You can easily just go buy it in person at Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowes; it's usually in stock

How did you take the caliper off the brake line? Did you remove the entire brake line first or did you spin the caliper off the line?

How the paint holds so far? I’m afraid it won’t last longer than G2 paint.

It's been a year and the paint still looks good. The stickers have discolored some from the heavy brake dust. Ceramic pads would be far kinder

Are the M decals replicas or OEM?

I couldn't find a way to purchase them directly from BMW. They're just difficult to find period. I guess their legal team is much more aggressive than Brembo's.

Sorry to hear that. Can you order it in? It may be pricey that way, but it's nearly an exact match.

@@350Z247 its a safety issue. I've tried getting other spray paints from the US 🇺🇸 and they can't be shipped because of fire / exploding risk ... I can understand that but they must ship thousands of items overseas and to the UK 🇬🇧 with the same risks ... 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@martynj-c4965 Well, that's unfortunate. I guess the only option they would be to order the G2 brush on caliper paint, but I don't think it matches as well.
