This song, The Partridge Family, & Mr David Cassidy take me back to a magical time when the world was full of promise, & anything was possible. I met David in 1971 the night before a concert he was giving at Monticello Raceway in New York. It was raining and he was the only other person sitting at the concession stand. He was wearing a suede floppy hat and sunglasses apparently an attempt to disguise himself. Me being a young teenage girl, I recognized that look that he was thinking Oh no here we go again. I told him not to worry, I wasn’t going to bother him and that I had problems of my own. (My mom and I had just gotten into a fight). He genuinely seemed to care and we just started chatting. I told him that I was attending his concert the following afternoon and he asked me what I was going to be wearing so he could pick me out of the crowd and dedicate a song to me, which he did. Terribly saddened over his death.

I learned the words to this song when I was 10 years old. We lived in student housing at an Ivy League college in New England. There was a lovely family up the hill , Lori and Susie Keith. They taught me the song. Life was so fun back then. Those were the days when all the kids in the neighborhood played kickball til dark. They moved away the next year but every time I hear this song I think of them and how only 10 year olds could giggle over David Cassidy. Maybe some day they will see this video and remember too.
I was around 10 years old when the Partridge Family was on TV. I remember having a friend over for a slumber party and when David was on, she kissed the TV screen. lol.
My best friend - Debbie Peach and I loved this song. I know we drove our families crazy listening to the 45!!!!! It is wonderful having dear, dear memories of a friendship and being young. She moved in about 1 year after this - so the song is doubly meaningful. She has 4 brothers and I had a little sister and little brother. We played together a lot - my favorite was Spot Light!
DAVID CASSIDY I THINK I LOVED YOU IN 1970S AND STILL DO YOU MADE SOME GREAT SONGS WITH PF BUT YOU WERE TOTALLY UNDERESTIMATED FOR YOUR TALENT. RIP ❤🧡💛💛💙💜🤎

@@andymatthews7617 Your right. He had a lot on his mind but I guess he tried to deal with it the best he could. He definitely had a big fan base to support him but personally he was going through a lot.
So many memories from my younger days traveling with my family. Had this song copied on a cassette with Knock Three Times and Sugar Sugar. Plus others. I had only 1 tape which was played on my tape recorder, over and over. In a small car with my parents and sister from Virginia to Tennessee and down west coast Florida and up east coast, during Christmas break. Im pretty sure after two weeks, my dad confiscated the tape once home.
This brings back nice memories. This song came out in 1970, when they created their first album under David Cassidy himself, and Wes Ferrell. I never get bored of any of these great songs. I enjoy David Cassidy, Shirley Jones, Danny, Susan, David Madden, and the rest. The Partridge Family is my favorite sitcom program. I never get tired of watching my box set of 96 episodes.🎵🎶🎼

I was just So THRILLED that I could have her with me and my family!!! We were walking through the store and we heard this song playing and my eyes LIT UP!!! Then I saw Eva and Caroline's eyes light up as well!!! I grabbed Eva and both of us started dancing to this in the store!!! Then Caroline joined in and pretty soon everyone was looking at us. My mother shook her head then my girlfriend Debbie SCREAMED and started to cry!!! My mother held Debbie and told everyone these are my children. One person said to my mother, " You must be very PROUD of them"!!!! My mother said, " These are my twins and my youngest"!!!! When we got done everyone was cheering and applauding us!!!!! My mother then told everyone, " My children have been dancing since they were babies and can dance to any type of music"!!!! Eva and I hugged and kissed Debbie and told her, " Be ready for this because you will see a lot of this out of us"!!!!!

I hope they saw the comment and hou in touch with you, we had the best days EVER.
It's GREAT! After school come home and watch the Partridge Family including other shows as well for kids.
WE HAD THE BEST OF TIMES, NOW ITS DEPRESSING.
David Cassidy was so underrated as a singer.
He died a very painful death SO SAD he deserved better 😥😥😥
@@JJ-oe9wc your absolutely right mate, I gave up 23 years ago, and dont miss it.
He had one of the best voices!
Numero Uno!!!!
How could he not be a great singer with Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy for parents?
man, were those the days! - filled with dreams of love and wonderful memories!
Truth Indeed AMEN 🙏
He really did have a great voice.
Had this single on a 45, and my Mom said I was wearing it out!
DAVID CASSIDY I THINK I LOVED YOU IN 1970S AND STILL DO YOU MADE SOME GREAT SONGS WITH PF BUT YOU WERE TOTALLY UNDERESTIMATED FOR YOUR TALENT. RIP ❤🧡💛💛💙💜🤎
Way to go, Keith Partridge! You stood up for yourself the way women at this event were motivated to, and you didn't disappoint, with one of your family's greatest songs. Thanks for posting this gem. Rest in peace, David Cassidy.
I will ALWAYS love this song dearly, no matter how old I'll be! When it's good, it's good! Period.
And it's fair to say that John Lennon knew a thing or two about writing great pop songs, right? LOL

Awesome music. Cassidy was a great singer and performer! :)
I used to watch this show religiously. This song still hits my soul. So sad to know the place where this was filmed will be no more. They already got rid of the fountain. So many great movies/shows were filmed there. PF being one of them.
Typical, the scumbags, want to destroy our history, DISGUSTING.
RIP ! Enjoyed times at Belmont Race Track and watching the horses run. He loved horses. It's not always roses but it was a place to escape to and leave the problems behind. ❤ 🎶 🐎 Nice person !
Very sad way to die, he did not deserve that after all the pleasure he gave.
@@andymatthews7617 Your right. He had a lot on his mind but I guess he tried to deal with it the best he could. He definitely had a big fan base to support him but personally he was going through a lot.

RIP to Dave Madden, aka Reuben. I loved this show when it came out, still do. And this is my favorite Partridge Family song.
I'm 63 years old and have every single Partridge Family LP on CD 💿 . Keith was my first love ❤ 😍 💖. So long, Sheriff Swell, we hardly knew ye. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This song brings back a lot of memories!! David Cassidy never got the respect he deserved. Thank you David & the Part ridge family for the memories!!
He died a very painful death, no justice because of all the joy he brought to people.
@@ppa1809 I would catch my mom looking at him😉😎
GREAT MEMORIES.
Bless him. I know all the words and I'm having a wee trip down memory lane while my partner watches his golf. I'm now 66 and I feel blessed that I can smile when I watch and remember being in love with David and the partridge family.
JUST BRILLIANT, I WANT TO GO BACK TO THIS TIME AND STAY THERE FOREVER.
As a kid I thought Shirley Jones was an old lady. Now She was an absolute pleasure to look at. 💯💯babe.
It's years since i've heard this, absolutely love it 🥰🎤🎶💃🎶
Part of my Youth is gone now. I feel so Damn Old....What a great talent when singers COULD ACTUALLY sing.. Thank you Mr. Cassidy for bringing a little joy to this Tumultuous World. My Respects. RH DSD
Your still young. Age is but a number. I feel your thoughts as well but I'm 57 and feel 40 - watching this video, I'm 13 again!
DIOSpeedDemon I feel the same way.
hollywood1rick Tell that to the 90 year old that can barely walk or movie. Age is not just a number it is a good barometer of the effects of years and what to expect. Just saying....
@das 1988 Indulge my Compulsive need to refine a quote worth pondering with constructive observations. If you can utilize words as you did "Barometer", you shouldn't overlook typo's like "Movie." Also, the proper application of the difference between effect and affect. You chose incorrectly with effect. Just Sayin.... : )
YOU"RE a picky leadle WORTHSMYTH. I tell ya.......
This video. The first time I saw an electric guitar. (Danny's) and I was smitten. 43 years later, I'm still writing songs, playing guitar. This show shaped my life. Beat the hell out of the Brady Bunch, hands down. I just watched and remember being 7 and asking my mom what an electric guitar was. Wow. Thanks, PF for .. too much to list. 😊
Major cultural moment right there!
this group untied all types of people!!!! we need that today

I first heard this song in 1970 and had a paper route. A great song.
The 70s was such an optimistic decade. David was an amazing talent. I’m forever sad that he suffered demons and passed away so young
The world went totally off the right track since those days.

Yeah, sounds like it. I know kidney and liver failure is terrible, but then again so are all deadly diseases. At least he had I heard on the news, all his family and people he loved around him. So, hopefully it wasn't too bad. Anyway, he was a good person and I hope his soul ends up in a good place!

The Partridge Family put out some good songs. Over 45 years later, I still remember the words.
I still love it after all these years
We saw david cassady in Greensboro, NC April 29, 1972. It was awesome!
Can anyone believe that David Cassidy had to convince the shows producer that he had real talent? David not only carried the show but became a star at the same time. He was a Superstar!
Dary Kinnaman that's shocking Day
I think it is wild that David Cassidy wanted to be a "hard rock and roller'. He was a great pop star.
The writers could have married Keith off,and had David do cameos.
Ina way, I can understand the producers, he wasn't a big name yet, despite having a famous dad.
@@amypagekaviani5661 I don't understand why the late actor thought Keith was a male air head.

One thing is certain: apart from his incredible appearance in his heyday, his voice was so unique, soulful and powerful in one. He also wrote good songs, could play the piano and guitar. Their signature song!!!! always will love this song, it never gets old! terrific song!!!!
When I was first seeing my girlfriend Debbie my mother, my sister Eva, and my sister Caroline took her shopping for
some food because we were going to cook dinner for her. I was just So THRILLED that I could have her with me and
my family!!! We were walking through the store and we heard this song playing and my eyes LIT UP!!! Then I saw Eva
and Caroline's eyes light up as well!!! I grabbed Eva and both of us started dancing to this in the store!!! Then Caroline
joined in and pretty soon everyone was looking at us. My mother shook her head then my girlfriend Debbie SCREAMED
and started to cry!!! My mother held Debbie and told everyone these are my children. One person said to my mother, " You
must be very PROUD of them"!!!! My mother said, " These are my twins and my youngest"!!!! When we got done everyone was
cheering and applauding us!!!!! My mother then told everyone, " My children have been dancing since they were babies and can
dance to any type of music"!!!! Eva and I hugged and kissed Debbie and told her, " Be ready for this because you will see a lot
of this out of us"!!!!!
Your absolutly right. If i want them to go away. All I have to do is Love them. Thanks Partreges. They will be gone in no time now. Ginius.
