Hello Jonny, I also ordered the Line 6 HX Stomp for my bass because I really like the capabilities and overall design of the device. I came across your video as I wanted to get an overview even before the unit arrived. Your video is perfect for that; you provide an excellent insight into the sounds and the process of creating patches. Thank you very much for your great work.
The attack time on a compressor delays when the compressor reacts to the signal. Zero attack time starts the compressor as soon as it sees signal above the dB threshold. Longer attack times allow the beginning of the sound get through uncompressed.
Hey Jonny, I've had a Stomp for a while and been using presets I've found online, really want to start making my own and this has been so helpful, thank you!
Thanks for this video! I agree regarding the on screen layout for the EQ. Why not keep it vertical, which is more traditional and how we are used to looking. It feels unnatural laid out horizontally. I'm sure that's an easy fix if line 6 wanted to. And yeah, why don't the low cut and high cut sliders work in the same manner. Makes no sense! The split signal option is amazing. Solves many tonality issues the effects can typically cause, especially with losing the bottom end with bass. The HX stomp is still amazing overall.
When using a tone shaping pedal pre amp with distortion capabilities, as a rule of thumb on gigs they work best with a clean sounding amp and speakers with transparent top end. Basically if you plug an mp3 player into your bass amp does it sound coloured, mushy or muddy or does it sound natural. If it sounds awesome you're definitely good to go with a pedal like this!
Just watched your newest vid with all 14 amps ....and asked on there ...but will also ask here.....so for live application ..which would be better...and also for the MONEY ...whats the differences in sounds between the HX STOMP and the new POD GO as far as BASS guitar tones????
@@JonnyDibble I copied a link to your channel on Patrick Hunter's page. You guys could be brothers! :) I hope it gets you a few more subscribers! Take care-Brent

This is the best description! Cheers Chris

Yeah just get a PA speaker instead of a bass/guitar amp right?

@@brentheathersimons7042 I'm not atm, man I would love a spector. What a beast!
Juicy tone!!
Thanks! 😁
So what would this sound like live running into a bass amp and cabs????
We shall see! 👀
Well, I'm sold this sounds great, is it durable so I can use it for gigging?
Thanks! Yeah its super solid. Amazing build quality
Literally ROCK solid :D
What's that riff you played at the start? It sounds very awesome
Thanks! Its my own song 😁
@@JonnyDibble is it a released/public song or just something you came up with?
@@louie8604 it's a full song I wrote for a project which sort of fizzled. Re-recorded for this though using the HX Stomp 😊
@@JonnyDibble what did you use for the drums, they sound so real

How do I turnoff hardware monitoring? While using HX Edit, I am hearing my guitar bypassed tone.
Are you listening through headphones? Plugged straight in to the HX Stomp or through an audio interface?
dude... attack is the time that passes before the compress kicks in. It allow transients to go through
Yeah I know, just saying the sliders aren't always the clearest on HX edit 😊
Can you not create/edit patches on the unit itself?
Yeah you can 😊 Just a lot easier to demonstrate using HX edit
@@JonnyDibble I'd loved to see a psych being created on the unit itself...
Have you any of these tones in a mix or are you just having solo fun
I use the Stomp in most of my videos and at the end I always do a demo in a ban situation. So I'd recommend checking them out! 😊
@@JonnyDibble Thanks you get a better feel in the mix I have listed to your endings very impressed thank you
Can you create the patch on the unit?
Hey man, It's obviously a bit more fiddly, but yes you can 😁 It shows you the whole signal chain so its super easy once you get to know how it works
Ive never really liked Line 6, but I guess it's just the amps that are bad
They've definitely come a long long way since the old spider and lowdown amps!
