Hey man, I'm looking for a link to those marine-grade cable tie downs you used but you didn't link to them! Can you help a brother out? Thanks, man. Love your channel and your content.
@Alfredo yes. You can run Chorus/Delay/Reverb in stereo, simultaneously. I haven’t ran out of processing power yet (I use my HX Stomp for effects only, I know adding amp modeling pushes the DSP harder than effects). HX Stomp is impressive!
I have an AX8 and I am looking at getting a stomp. I use minimal effects and wondered could I use the stomp live on its own? Can I copy banks? Say clean drive and lead and then bank 2 clean chorus lead etc. Does that make sense?
The price of HX Stomp just does not cut for it. It says it has one of the two CPUs of Helix Floor/LT processors but it is only limited to 6 blocks which is a big shame. Helix LT can support up to 32 blocks if there is enough DSP power. Therefore, HX Stomp should support up to 16 blocks. It seems HX Stomp will support up to 8 blocks with a new update. Really, I am so excited (irony). Line 6 is ridiculous now. Also Boss GT1000 Core is much better than this rusty tin.
You know what makes you a great player to listen to? Your touch is awesome. You always put the perfect amount of pressure on the strings. You are a refreshing player to listen to. You aren't the flashiest player but damn you really know what you're doing. Always love listening to you.
I would definitely love a dedicated video on the HX Stomp! Your sounds out of that were killer. I just picked one up and videos on great user created presets are pretty slim. As always, great video Rhett!
For anyone wondering (since he didnt put these in the description) the adapter cables he uses with this power supply are both by Cioks. The parallel adapter is the 8500 flex and the line 6 adapter is the 3050 flex
Throw a mini expression pedal in your backpack, set EXP1 to control the FX Send Level (min value -60db, max 0db), instant volume pedal without using a block. Swell those delays and verbs! Great vid
That fuzz tone was insane! I've only just started playing with fuzz after 20 years of avoiding it. (built myself an op-amp muff clone) It sounded like it was self oscillating and ring modulating. Crazy cool!
I put a similar board for the same purpose, but a little larger than the one on this video. Pedaltrain Classic JR fits into a carry-on that I take w me on the plane and allows you to use more pedals than just 3. I use the HX FX as a multi FX "central" with a send/return loop on one of the blocks. I mostly use backline amps, but my 2 emergency rigs in case I run into problems are: for any amp issues, I place the Strymon Iridium on the HX send/return then to front of house and my wedge, and for board issues, I can simply take the HX off the board and use other banks I made labeled well "emergency" for that specific situation. Keep it up w the videos, Rhett! Big fan!
Me too! Game changer. HX Stomp is scary good! @Klaus you can pretty much route any control to any foots witch (including external). You can also use a MIDI pedal/switch/loop switcher to control the HX Stomp as well.
I was literally just beginning to consider getting an HX Stomp since having so much trouble with tube amps. This video is quite timely. A dedicated HX stomp video would likely also be helpful.
Yes more on the HX Stomp, please. I think I want a Helix but that just might be overkill for me. Plus I'd like to see how you do all the MIDI trickeration. I need to level up my music nerd.
Loved this Rhett!!! I mean mini board video? You’re speaking my language brother. And yeah, I’d love to see a separate video on each of those pedals. And great playing, so important.
Been working with my HX stomp for over a month now. Completely changed the game for me. It's been my #1 rig for guitar and last weekend our bass player called out. Switched it to a bass preset and kept on rolling. Amazing gear.
Awesome videos! One thing I warn cable makers though about Mogami and similar cable. Over the center (hot) conductor there is clear insulator with a black plastic jacket over that. That black plastic IS CONDUCTIVE, most people don't strip it off. It won't be a dead short if it touches the tip connection, just enough to dull out your tone being more critical/damaging if it is high impedance signal but it could short out your signal with a 2K-10K load. Make sure when you strip the center you also strip the black inner jacket off too (separate from the outside jacket), if it touches the tip its a tone suck. I've seen this issue in more rigs than I can remember.
I can agree to this as well. I was a part of a project with Coloplast where we developed a heater for the adhesive used in stomi bags. It was scientifically proved that a pre-heating helped the adhesive to stick better to the body. I would say it also goes for pedalboards.
HI Rhett. Thanks for the heads up on the Cioks power supply. I replaced my trusty Voodu Labs Pedal Power with the DC7 ;ast week. The Cioks is half the size and supplies 660mA 9v at every output. The multiple voltage abilities are huge. I'm powering my pedals, wireless receivers, & IEM system with it. Getting rid of those 12v and 15v wall warts saves a ton of space on my pedal board.
I’ve literally just done the same thing! Helix floor for gigs on home soil HX Stomp for touring abroad. As a bassist I don’t need anything else - though I’m tempted to put the Stomp on a board with a Cali76 or Diamond comp!
Hey, Bass bro... Gigging my Dingwall ABZ with just a Turbo Tuner and Diamond bass comp. Thinking about replacing or augmenting tuner with an HX Stomp for access to cab sims, etc.
Steve Rolfe definitely worth doing. For me the Stomp is the ultimate Swiss Army knife pedal to have with you at all times. It’ll do everything, the only thing is spending enough time with it to get really comfortable with it - it could be overwhelming.
So inspirational! I’ve ordered many of these components for my own build. Would love a tutorial on MIDI programming between HX Stomp and Specular Tempus. If you do end up building the patches specific for these two units would gladly pay for them. Thanks so much for putting in the hard work in order to share this valuable information with us all.
Rhett, watching your videos is time well spent. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience with others. Much appreciated. (I swear, between you and Rick Beato, I'm gaining a full spectrum of insight/education on music, and the guitar.)
Hey Rhett. Given this video is three years old I’m sure you won’t answer this but I’ll ask any way. I use a HX effects board that won’t fit in stowed luggage so I need to build something like this. I wanted to ask how you managed switching presets and stomps / snapshots for different songs in your set? On the HX I use a preset per song and then 4 snapshots for the song parts. I’m trying to figure out how I could make that work on a rig like this. Thx
I'm having a great time with my HX Stomp XL board. Right now, I have a Pitchblack mini tuner, an Op Amp Big Muff, an Astral Destiny, a Dunlop Volume X Mini expression, and an HX Stomp XL mounted to a d'Addario XPND Small board. It fits, but barely, which is how I like it (hard to have GAS for pedals when I have no room for more). I'm waiting on a DC7 to come in to power it, so thank you for making this video and showing how that's possible. I'm considering using the Stomp tuner instead of my mini tuner and doing 4 cable method to put my fuzz and Destiny in the FX loop of the Stomp, but I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to do that. It'd be nice to be able to run an overdrive in front of the fuzz, but I don't know if I'll run into any impedance trouble having the Muff not be first in the signal chain. I originally bought the Stomp just to use its reverbs and delays, but I'm stunned by how amazingly versatile the overdrives, fuzzes, and especially amp models are in the unit. I've loaded some York Audio IRs to model my real Orange and Vox cabs, and with the Mandarin and Essex A30 top boost models, the Stomp is absolutely nailing my tone for headphone practice and quick and easy recording over USB. I can also achieve things with it that are impossible with analog pedals, like assigning multiple pedals' parameters to a single expression pedal to swell in all of my modulation or time-based effects at once. It's bonkers how much more I'm getting out of the Stomp than I was expecting. I feel like every guitarist should have one.
I’ve yet to dive into midi, so it’d be cool to see that whole process. The stomp is an awesome piece of equipment and the board came together nicely. Now let’s hope TSA doesn’t ruin anything.
Ditto. I've never done MIDI switching but I'd be curious as I playback samples during gigs. currently using a BOSS RC-20 but I'd be interested in having a MIDI footswitch with many switches and each having a sample assigned to them. and not having the MIDi switch connected to a laptop(too bulky), I'd like the samples to be stored in a small, compact, pedal board friendly solution.
The way I do it is I use VST plugins with my guitar and then if I find something or a combo I like, I buy the physical pedals... P.D why is everything so expensive!!!!?
Rhett, great video. I put together a similar fly-board, however, I decided to go a slightly different route. I have an Xotic SP compressor, a Keeley D&M, a Tru-Fi Colorsound, all into the FX loop of the HX Stomp. All of this is on a Pedal Train Nano+ powered by a Strymon Ojai on the underside. The Ojai is powering all 4 units, with the HXS taking up 2 I find that the drive/boost of HX are good, but I like my core sound. This frees up my HXS for amp modeling, modulation, delay and reverb. Also, since the drives are in the FX Loop, I can reorder my chain anyway I need. Lastly, IMHO a necessity to the rig is a the Mission Engineering expression. I also have experimented with the Moskey 2 momentary switch box, but I find I prefer to use the expression pedal you can control so much more with the exp pedal than just just adding another 2 buttons. Would love to see an HX Stomp stand-alone video!
I also would like to see a comprehensive demo of the HX Stomp. I love my Helix but I do a regular gig where the footprint of the Helix is just too large. I wonder if the Stomp would be a viable alternative.
This video is amazing with a practical common sense approach. This guy clearly knows what he is talking about taking live performance into consideration. I already own the HX Stomp and the Specular Tempus, which I consider to be the best pedal I've ever purchased and I've had many. With such similar good taste in pedals, I'll have to take a close look at the Revival Drive. I use the Specular Tempus on my electric guitar rig and the HX Stomp for electric, acoustic and bass gigs straight into the mixer. Yes, my life is pretty busy with a day job and a 9 year old daughter. I wouldn't have it any other way. I plan to partially use this idea to make a removable module from my electric guitar pedalboard. The HX Stomp is such a versatile pedal and can be used in so many ways, which is why I bought in the first place. It's easy to play bass, electric, keys and acoustic straight into a mixer with the simple change of a preset.
i bought one in may, its the best tonal guitat journey i have been on & thats a journey of 36 years. thank you for all your inspirational videos Rhett. you are awesome.
Great video! I got the Stomp 6 months ago and haven’t looked back. So nice not to have to lug a Hot Rod Deluxe to church on Sunday mornings anymore. Looking to downsize my board even more by replacing my Timeline and Ventris Reverb. I think I may have just found my pedal. My goal is to get a fly rig like yours. You may want to look into a 2 button aux switch to add to the Stomp. Super small footprint and adds a lot of versatility. Would love to see more videos on the HXS.
Hello from 2022. Built a, 98% similar, version of this last year and have been using it with my acoustic. Using TRS to XLR connectors on the outputs yields a balanced signal eliminating the need for DI box(es). Works great! Thanks for this Rhett
he does this every video, "im using (insert product here), link is in the description" then he uploads the video with his description template with nothing in it
I'm not sure from which video he has a proper description, but prior to that video, all the previous videos has the updated links, including the Line 6 Helix/Stomp presets, and updated Kempers, and a bunch of stuff that wasn't available back then. I can imagine in the process he over wrote the previous descriptions, without reviewing the videos to see if he mentioned any links at all.
Yes! Definitely want to see a video on the HX Stomp. There are a lot of videos out already but I trust your opinions. You’re a working guitarist so your job depends on your equipment in part. Plus I just like your thoroughness.
Rhett, you make excellent videos, man. You have an extremely good ear with these Pedal board/effects videos you do. I always come away inspired by the patch sounds you create. Keep ‘em coming!
Great video! I'm using the HX Stomp in a similar way for flight shows etc, using a Wampler Ego comp in front and a RC Booster after (for use with a rented backline amp). Would love to see a HX Stomp video!
Yes yes and yes!! I was just talking to one of my band mates about doing something like this! While I won't be going through TSA, I DO need to have a smaller, more easily controlled and powerful board like this! Also yes to a standalone video for the hx stomp. Love what you do.
I’ve got a very similar setup except on a Metro 16 board. Overdrive into Stomp, and a MIDI controller with a few extra add-one because I had space and they help me live (expression wheel, dual footswitch for more switches on the MIDI controller). It’s a super powerful setup and I end up using it the same way (either controlling wet effects after an amp, or being the whole rig). Cool video! The Tempus sounds great, and the Revival Drive seems to have a ton of sounds in there
Wait but, how's that HX Stomp working? it requires 3000 miliamps, you're only giving it 1320 via the parallel connection, that's less than half it's power requirements. Isn't there crackling or intermittence/screen flashing on some presets?
Yeah never mind that, just did the research and to answer my own question, the HX Stomp will actually use only about 1A, Line 6 went with a 3A power supply probably because it had it already for other products and it'd be cheaper production-wise. So in this case the 1.3A provided by the Cioks parallel connection will be more than enough. Just posting this in case other people were wondering the same thing.
I am coming back to this some months after it was posted as I have been working out my own Stomp based board. I have added a couple of outboard buttons using a Skinny Little Twins from Vein-Tap into the expression input and they allow me to change screens so I can move from patch select to stomp box mode to snapshots and back again with my feet. Adding an outboard tuner frees up button 3 and with a Mooer pure boost I can switch between lead and rhythm sounds with one more button. Still playing around with it before or behind the Stomp. Even with my CryBaby at the front all of that fits into a space 18 inches by 12 with some to spare. Now I just have to save up for the Cioks!
Great video. Again! Your work is inspiring! It's pretty cool that your wife knows the guitar & gear makes & models! Hey...did Publix provide the rubbing alcohol for demo in this video?
I could swear my Specular Tempus has tap tempo... Ill have to check later. ETA: Yup, it does. Manual section 2.8 Cant turn off lights, etc. without physically unplugging it though!
@@RhettShull I gotcha! I use the triple switch from GFI with it :) Might even fit on the small Mono board (its tiny and light)? For as much as I love the pedal.. I find its interface without the triple switch to frequently be a pain. With the switch, it turns into a completely different animal! It seems like everything the ST puts out just sounds amazing either way though
Firstly, I was at the gig in London and I know it wasn't what you wanted but don't worry - you sounded fantastic through the Vox. I think it may be worth having a "no pedals" day once in a while to re-engage with the simplicity of just running an amp and doing everything on tone through the guitar and the hands. How about a video on that? Second, I bought an HX Stomp precisely for its portability. I do an overseas gig each year and lugging a rack unit is breaking my back. I think there is enough in the HX for at least ten videos. I just flew back from this years overseas gig in Seoul (humblebrag) and took it there with half a dozen patches set up for the gig. It is so flexible that I was running sounds where one switch would turn on some effects and turn off others at the same time or in one case change between amps within the same patch and I haven't even got into snapshots yet. So do I want an HX Stomp video - no, I want loads of separate ones on creating patches, switch assignment, using the expression pedal "learn" function, using midi into the HX, using midi out of the HX, using snapshots and about a hundred other tricks and tips. Will that keep you busy for a while?
Nice board ! For me I would probably have the Tempus last in the chain and use the loop for the Revival Drive so I could have effects before or after the drive.
For those wondering (like me). Retail prices in USD from Google search or manufacturer's website. HX Stomp: $600. Specular Tempus: $350. Origin Revival Drive Compact: $385. Mono Lite Plus pedalboard: $130. CIOKS DC7: $230. Total of these items, not including cables or other parts: $1,695 USD. Looks like it's time to start saving my pennies. :)
Jack Narcotta I was looking at this too because the idea is so appealing, but given the price, why wouldn’t you just go with the Helix Floor? Same price (new or buy used for $999) with a bit more footprint but a built in expression pedal, all the modeling and effects but twice the DSP, and no need to patch cables and worry about mounting power supplies. The Mono Lite+ is 18” x 5.7” vs 22” x 11.85” for the Helix Floor. I guess you’re cutting it too close for carry-on with the Helix Floor since 22” is usually the length max on most airlines. I really want to embrace the HX stomp for its compact size and portability, but it’s getting harder to justify over the Helix by the time you factor in the price and technical hurdles of building out the rest of the rig around the Stomp.
As noted below: "HX Stomp with the NEW 3.01 Firmware update will do 8 BLOCKS now." So, with a single firmware update, $1000 of this project was rendered moot. Could just pack the Stomp by itself.
Great video! I was on the fence between the Stomp and Boss MS-3, and went with the Boss, but am still on the fence. I love the idea of a small-ish board that combines a switcher/modeler with a few key outboard effects. My board got too big/heavy awhile back, so have been trying to minimize as much as possible, while still keeping sound flexibility and quality. Love your channel - keep up the great work!
I've got an HX Stomp - amazing pedal it is! Love the sounds and of course your playing Rhett - would love to see you put together an HX Stomp video using the board you just put together.
This is awesome! I had to play a gig for a week in Florida (not where I’m from) so I used my stomp with a mini volume pedal and a Boss DD-7 with external tap, and I had everything except for delay running through the stomp. It was on a very similarly sized board (I just cut up a piece of plywood lol) and I loved it! I see why you enjoyed this build so much cause I did the same thing and it was amazing👌👌
YES! HX Stomp video for sure!!!! I am looking forward to hearing the "rig specific" setups! I thought the samples were fantastic! I was looking at the Volante to add to my Helix Floor... the other one was the Secular... Ugh!
@@ZeroG i was wondering too. Like. If you're not making decent money with guitar you won't need a fly rig anyways so why do people care about it's price? And even if. This is his fly rig noone forces you to build it yourself haha
Been a fan and a subscriber for a hot minute. Your stock goes even higher knowing you have a Defend New Orleans shirt. Also, yes please do an HX Stomp video. Im working on putting a good amp-less fly rig together and you cut so much fat off of your demo-type videos that it makes researching the different approaches to this stuff so much easier. Seems like most videos out there, the uploader either only wants to display their chops or talk too much about anything BUT the meat and potatoes. Ive heard that putting a couple must have pedals ahead of the HX Stomp is bar-none the best best for a fly rig, so it'd be great to see you run the HX Stomp through its paces.
I was hoping to see you actually switching between presets so we could see the workflow for live stuff and whether or not you’d have to do a lot of tap dancing within each song.
Great video! Lots of fun watching it! Yes, please do an HX Stomp stand-alone video. I just picked up a used one and would love to see how you walk through yours.
Can you imagine going back in time 20 years and paying $15 to have someone send you a picture of how the knobs on their amp and pedals are set at? Why anyone pays for presets is beyond me... learning how to set up your sound is part of becoming a guitar player
Yes, more on HXs.. Also does the Tempest have midi thru so you can also send the patch change to the Powercab plus? Can you eventually show how to use the stereo loop send to 2 separate pedals with a trs Y cable and returned, so you can choose either one in the loop? Great video Rhett, can’t wait for more.
Like others...Yes! Please do an HX Stomp video. Midi. Putting together presets. Also, I just put together a PedalTrain Metro 24 with HX Stomp, TC Helicon Play Acoustic, Boss R-C 30 Looper and powered by the Cioks DC7. Thanks for confirming my choice of power supplies! Great vid, Rhett. Thank you!
Yes please on the Stomp video! I'm new to guitar and I'm trying to plan my investments in gear carefully. I saw your comment that maybe you'd go Helix instead of amps+pedals if you were just starting out now. How does the Stomp play into that notion?
Rhett the production value on this video is crazy dude. But my favorite part is always your guitar playing, love your sense of melody. I'd love to hear more of your playing in videos!
Nice video! I am using an HX Stomp in my home studio rig. I use it with 4 cable method through an Orange Dark Terror head with a 2x12 cab. With 4 cable method I can either use the Orange preamp with some stomps in front and in the fx loop (I like delay and reverb in loop) OR I have presets which use Stomp preamps instead of the Orange without changing any cables and it runs straight to the tube power amp. In this config the volume knob on the Stomp acts as a master volume for the amp so I can crank the preamp and master volume on the amp but still play at a lower volume-no need for an attenuator box. Like you, I wanted more fx available so I have a Line 6 M1 in the amp loop as well-using it for reverb. My other pedal is a cry-baby in front of the Stomp. Overall it is a great rig and nice for transitioning away from plugins with a lot of amp/fx flexibility. I mic the rig with an e609 and a CAD condenser.
Awesome! Would love to see a longer video on the stomp. I am currently building a similar rig with a Stomp, GFI ST, and a Chase Bliss Brothers, all controlled by a Morningstar MC6. I am really blown away by all that you can accomplish with such a small amount of gear.
Enzo Heavenly soon as I watched his video I bought an Ax8. Lol I’m very happy with it. But the reverbs and such aren’t as good as the speculate tempest I’m sure. Though they’re still very good.
My first video course, The Tone Course, is available now! Check it out here.

Half the DSP, otherwise pretty much same.

Chris Mathers check out Alex Strabala and Jason Sadites, they’re two of the best on UA-cam for Stomp content
Seth Stanley Rad thanks! Will definitely check them out.
Google Glenn DeLaune. Killer presets and impulse responses.
For anyone wondering (since he didnt put these in the description) the adapter cables he uses with this power supply are both by Cioks. The parallel adapter is the 8500 flex and the line 6 adapter is the 3050 flex
Is the 3050 flex just like any other connector cable included in the cioks dc 7 or is it something specific I need for the hx stomp ?
Where can I find the peel and stick square tiedowns. The better than Lowes type?
Thank you 🙂
Ironically it looks more like a bomb now.
Underrated comment lol
Haha! I agree, underrated comment.. Nice one :)
The HX Stomp looks like a bomb and the power supply looks like the detonator.
All he was missing was some duct tape
Wes Creedle 2nd on duck tape
Throw a mini expression pedal in your backpack, set EXP1 to control the FX Send Level (min value -60db, max 0db), instant volume pedal without using a block. Swell those delays and verbs! Great vid
I run an HX Stomp on my full board for amps and cabs and reverb. Would love to see more on the HX Stomp! Keep up the great work! Love your videos!
That fuzz tone was insane! I've only just started playing with fuzz after 20 years of avoiding it. (built myself an op-amp muff clone) It sounded like it was self oscillating and ring modulating. Crazy cool!
where did you get the schematic for that, may I ask?
Do an HX stomp video I’m considering buying one
Definitely buying one next month. The video would be great. Specially the thought process when preparing the presets.
Using one since January. It's taken over everything
I’ve had one basically since it came out last year and even I would love a video about it.
It's very versatile, covers anything even by itself
Got one last year. It's basically the front and centre of my live rig. It is a powerhouse!

I use a Dual Momentary Footswitch with my Stomp. It just makes it a whole other beast, lets you do much more and easier!
Me too! Game changer. HX Stomp is scary good! @Klaus you can pretty much route any control to any foots witch (including external). You can also use a MIDI pedal/switch/loop switcher to control the HX Stomp as well.
Where did you source your dual foot switch? And why momentary and not latched? Also does it have the capacitive switches like the stomp?
I was literally just beginning to consider getting an HX Stomp since having so much trouble with tube amps. This video is quite timely. A dedicated HX stomp video would likely also be helpful.
Yes more on the HX Stomp, please. I think I want a Helix but that just might be overkill for me. Plus I'd like to see how you do all the MIDI trickeration. I need to level up my music nerd.

When are you gonna go full fly rig and get a headless guitar. I'm telling you bro, it's a game changer lol.
I have a thing with guitars, they need to have headstocks or I can’t play them. Pretty sure it’s a medical condition
Rhett Shull I have the same condition. Please reach out to me if you need some help and guidance for struggling with this condition.
Jimi Hendrix didn’t need a headless guitar mate 😉
David C yet he didn’t need a fly rig
...Ciari Ascender?

Hot tip. Heat the sticky side of the ‘velcro’ and tie-downs so they stick better..
Interesting!
good call! I saw phillip McKnight do it with a hair dryer.

David Faustino Y not both 🤷🏻♂️
Line 6 was probably having a good laugh when they designed that power supply.
You can use footswitch b as a tap tempo via the gfi editor. Especially as you’re using the rest via midi.
For everyone watching or rewatching this video now, Voodoo Labs makes a power cable for the HX stomp doing exactly what Rhett outlines in the video.
Yeap! Fender even included in their Power supply
I'm so glad I found your channel. Quality content we don't usually find on UA-cam these days. Keep the videos coming!
I purchased HX Stomp solely based on this video, and I love every penny I spent on it. Thanks Rhett. You rock!!!
Me too! I would love to see how much more I could do with my pedals...
The Ojai is powering all 4 units, with the HXS taking up 2
I find that the drive/boost of HX are good, but I like my core sound.
Bro the HX stomp looks siccc. You need to do a video on it.
i bought one in may, its the best tonal guitat journey i have been on & thats a journey of 36 years. thank you for all your inspirational videos Rhett. you are awesome.
A big part of Rhett’s videos starts with him sitting down in his chair with ambition.
Who is ambition?
Great video! I got the Stomp 6 months ago and haven’t looked back. So nice not to have to lug a Hot Rod Deluxe to church on Sunday mornings anymore. Looking to downsize my board even more by replacing my Timeline and Ventris Reverb. I think I may have just found my pedal. My goal is to get a fly rig like yours. You may want to look into a 2 button aux switch to add to the Stomp. Super small footprint and adds a lot of versatility. Would love to see more videos on the HXS.
I would TOTALLY like to see an HX STOMP Video!
Hello from 2022. Built a, 98% similar, version of this last year and have been using it with my acoustic. Using TRS to XLR connectors on the outputs yields a balanced signal eliminating the need for DI box(es). Works great! Thanks for this Rhett
I don't see the link for the marine grade cable tie downs.
I'm interested in that as well...
Also the link to different densities dual lock is missing
All the links to the gear are missing
he does this every video, "im using (insert product here), link is in the description" then he uploads the video with his description template with nothing in it
I'm not sure from which video he has a proper description, but prior to that video, all the previous videos has the updated links, including the Line 6 Helix/Stomp presets, and updated Kempers, and a bunch of stuff that wasn't available back then.
Hey Rhett! Quick question, what exactly are you doing in logic 10? Did you adjust in post at all? It sounds amazing. 🙌🏼
Rhett, you make excellent videos, man. You have an extremely good ear with these Pedal board/effects videos you do. I always come away inspired by the patch sounds you create. Keep ‘em coming!
I feel like the eventide Harmonizer H9 would also be great for something like this. You should check that pedal out!
Great video! I'm using the HX Stomp in a similar way for flight shows etc, using a Wampler Ego comp in front and a RC Booster after (for use with a rented backline amp). Would love to see a HX Stomp video!
Would love to see more stomp videos. I love mine but love seeing how others use them. Maybe how you build a preset?
Kyle Rhodes agreed! I have my own HX Stomp Channel and still love watching and learning from everyone else’s experiences! 🙌🏼
Cool video! The Tempus sounds great, and the Revival Drive seems to have a ton of sounds in there
Beautiful tones! Could you please share your Octave fuzz settings for those who have an HX Effects unit?
@@vocalead Thanks for the knowledge. That was exactly my question. You don't get Amps for free.
I wanted to build this so I went back to look at the materials list and it is no longer there. Or am i missing something?
Great video. Again! Your work is inspiring! It's pretty cool that your wife knows the guitar & gear makes & models! Hey...did Publix provide the rubbing alcohol for demo in this video?
I could swear my Specular Tempus has tap tempo... Ill have to check later. ETA: Yup, it does. Manual section 2.8
Cant turn off lights, etc. without physically unplugging it though!
SensparTech it does, but you loose the right preset button in the process. I didn’t want to give that up.
Do a HX stomp video. I’m really thinking of getting one and I highly respect your opinion. I want to do a similar small rig.
Great video, very clear and informative. You mentioned the marine-grade cable tiedowns, but I don't see a link to them. Am I missing something?
Let’s see that HX Stomp video, Rhett! 🤙🏼
one of the coolest pedalboards i've ever seen. The cable management is just amazing
Nice board ! For me I would probably have the Tempus last in the chain and use the loop for the Revival Drive so I could have effects before or after the drive.
Firstly, thank you so much for all your videos! I couldn’t seem to find the link to the cable tie-downs you mentioned in the description.
Link to marine grade anchor points please.
I appreciate that you actually went to the trouble to solder your own cables.
Well Done
Maybe do a video of you building presets with this setup! I would watch
I've got an HX Stomp - amazing pedal it is! Love the sounds and of course your playing Rhett - would love to see you put together an HX Stomp video using the board you just put together.
The stomp now supports 8 blocks with the new firmware update 🙌
is it real??
This is awesome! I had to play a gig for a week in Florida (not where I’m from) so I used my stomp with a mini volume pedal and a Boss DD-7 with external tap, and I had everything except for delay running through the stomp. It was on a very similarly sized board (I just cut up a piece of plywood lol) and I loved it! I see why you enjoyed this build so much cause I did the same thing and it was amazing👌👌
You have promised MANY links on the description boxes and didn't put it! :(
Yep.....hopefully he'll get to it. Others saying same thing.
YES! HX Stomp video for sure!!!! I am looking forward to hearing the "rig specific" setups! I thought the samples were fantastic! I was looking at the Volante to add to my Helix Floor... the other one was the Secular... Ugh!
This little fly rig will cost normal mortals over $1700, that's pretty steep!
that's just how youtubers roll 🙄
I would just get the full Helix and be done.
Why do guitar pedal videos always have people complaining about numbers?
@@ZeroG i was wondering too. Like. If you're not making decent money with guitar you won't need a fly rig anyways so why do people care about it's price? And even if. This is his fly rig noone forces you to build it yourself haha
Yeah let's cheap out on the thing we're taking really far away to try and get paid for a show.
I just bought an HX Stomp and this video is infinitely helpful in helping me understand how best to use it! Great info!
That board costs more than all my gear combined 😹😹😹
Rhett: This pedalboard does EVERYTHING
Jimi hendix: Smh...Where’s my wah??
Hendroff: how am i gonna swell in church?
I’m not seeing this gear in the description… especially the cable clamps and the Line6 adapters
Yes a video about the stomp would be cool. I love my stomp.
Stoked when I saw this in my feed! Been waiting for this build from your channel for a while. All it needs is a fuzz!
Thank you for letting us know, good sir riding on his high horse
Yes, more on HXs.. Also does the Tempest have midi thru so you can also send the patch change to the Powercab plus? Can you eventually show how to use the stereo loop send to 2 separate pedals with a trs Y cable and returned, so you can choose either one in the loop? Great video Rhett, can’t wait for more.
So, is this... plan B? XDDDD
Good one ! ;-)
Ha ha ha
Like others...Yes! Please do an HX Stomp video. Midi. Putting together presets. Also, I just put together a PedalTrain Metro 24 with HX Stomp, TC Helicon Play Acoustic, Boss R-C 30 Looper and powered by the Cioks DC7. Thanks for confirming my choice of power supplies! Great vid, Rhett. Thank you!
Sup notification gang
Yes please on the Stomp video! I'm new to guitar and I'm trying to plan my investments in gear carefully. I saw your comment that maybe you'd go Helix instead of amps+pedals if you were just starting out now. How does the Stomp play into that notion?
Never... EVER.... blow on your freshly soldered joints. Yes I know there’s a natural urge... fight it, man!!!
You’re a big boy now
😂🤣
why?
Rhett, been trying to downsize my rig around the same size. Would really love some more HX Stomp videos from you dude!
Will you make presets to run into a backline cab? Please demo that too if you make those presets.
Does it make a Metal guitarist be able to communicate with a jazz guitarist?
Borys Jarosz
🤣😂🤣😂
It might make a bass player be able to communicate with the rest of the band.
only via midi...
Rhett the production value on this video is crazy dude. But my favorite part is always your guitar playing, love your sense of melody. I'd love to hear more of your playing in videos!
You need an expression pedal and you're set.
You could have just bought the full Helix for the price it cost to build this setup.
This is true. But I know for me there are pedals I want to use outside the Helix engine (specifically delays and reverbs).
Awesome! Would love to see a longer video on the stomp. I am currently building a similar rig with a Stomp, GFI ST, and a Chase Bliss Brothers, all controlled by a Morningstar MC6. I am really blown away by all that you can accomplish with such a small amount of gear.
"I´ll put a link in the description ....." ... Eh, no you won´t !
1.6K for this rig buying all used gear off reverb. 😰
Just buy a full size Helix
Enzo Heavenly soon as I watched his video I bought an Ax8. Lol I’m very happy with it. But the reverbs and such aren’t as good as the speculate tempest I’m sure. Though they’re still very good.
