@@jurtes3652 check out the Billie Joe Armstrong with his kids version. All I can say is wow I haven't heard this song since the 70's and thought is bubble gum pop. But it really brings memories of my first kiss at 11 years old Now in going I'm learning it on my guitar, oddly coincidental it's a Fender Jaguar, Great song
Can't help but smile to the memories his music bring back to my mind. I loved all of his music. I have their greatest hits CD. When I need a break from being 60 years old I put on this CD and I'm a teenager again😁. I just have to be careful the old knees and hips don't pop out of their sockets😆🤣😂😅
After moving from Indiana(see previous comment), NYC, and then Glen Ridge NJ, many of my friends from Clifton NJ tell me they knew Tommy..their kids would go Halloween trick-or-treating at Tommy's house and gaze at the golden records adorning the wall!
Tommy at The Bitter End in NYC...if you haven't been there, it is a very intimate setting, like a small restaurant. My sister was best friends with Tommy's cousin in South Bend, Indiana back in the 60's...met him at her house, playing billiards. Very nice guy.
He wasn't so old when he they did this gig. There are some that get better, others have health problems along the way. John Sebastian (Summer in the City, Do you Believe in Magic, Did you Ever have to Make up Your Mind and many others lost his voice years ago sadly- still performing last I checked. He still has wonderful stories to tell about those days - they're here on youtube. So these 60's babes are old(er) than I but not forgotten. Earlier I was crying due to health issues I cannot beat but the music of yesteryear from doowop onward , Creedence Clearwater, Zeppelin, Kinks, Steely Dan, Stevie wonder, Mac.... SO many others without room enough to list - make the sun shine for me again. I'm glad for the ones still around even if they sound like frogs when they sing (Dylan). One day I'll go see them at the biggest concert of all - in the sky.
Actually, as a former pro guitarist myself (I was 20 years with The Righteous Brothers), Tommy was and is a very under rated guitarist. You should hear some of his stuff after the Shondells. Really great guitar work by him.
This entire Bitter End concert is fantastic. Another viewer said that Tommy might be playing to dubbed tracks. If he is he has every detail covered. I don't think he is - he's just that damn good!
I'm not a guitarist, but in Tommy James book he mentions something about the way he plays chords is much easier for him than the usual way of playing them.
No one provided more fun and diversified music than Tommy James.......Absolutely the king of great pop music.......His songs are just as hot as ever even today.....He sounds just as good as he always has. Exceptional talent and entertainer. As far as American music, only the Beach Boys comes close to the appeal of Tommy James and the Shondells. Tighter and Tighter was also his, another great song.
From High School 1967-68 and still into 2017, this has remained one of my Top Twenty favorites. Write down your Top 20 All Time favorite songs and see what it shows about your taste. Is it the same? Where has it changed? My son's band is called Listen 2 Three so some of their music moved into my favorites but TJ will still be there!
Should be the Hall of Fame! Great group!
Yes Tommy deserves to be in the rock and roll hall of fame
His voice haven’t changed ! One of the best rock bands without any doubt!
Tommy James has an incredible voice still!
I think he's even gotten better!!! I love his voice!!! Amazing!!!
I saw him play on Saturday in Waukegan!!!!! This song!
This is one of the only groups that sound great live it's just like the studio recordings That's powerful , Good old times
Tommy has not lost anything from the original. Can still make me jump up and dance. Damn. . .
I just saw TJ and the Shondells on Nov 5, they soooooo rock! Tommy sounds the same, and he's a sweetheart. Love you Tommy.
Tommy’s incredible voice! ❤🎸❤️
This music never gets old for me...........Tommy was a better singer than many credited him for too
How lucky to be there !
56 yo now, but still reminds me of a '71 ford torino, a moonlit nite by the lake...LOVE TJ and the S.
sounds just like yesterday! he still has it!
They're just as good as they even were. Takes me back in time. I love hearing them!!
For me this would the best version I´ve ever heard. What a great song!!

He exudes pure talent! Have been a fan of Tommy James since I was a young teen!
Wow! He sounds fantastic! Most of the "old timers" had lost their voice. Great...great...song!

You sure got that right. His voice is absolutely still very amazing. He has been truly blessed.
For me the best version I´ve ever heard until today is the one from Tommy James and the Shondells. What a great song!
Was 16 when this came out--where has all the time gone? But, I'm glad I lived through what I consider the biggest and best change in music ever!!
you took the words right out of my mouth
He was 20 years old when he released this hit, and it reached no 4 on Billboard, on 1967 Apr 22
My folkssaw him in northwest Indiana after we came home to visit in the 90s. He is a living legend
we were looking forward to seeing him in PA last year, damn Covid
Listened to this on my transistor radio on the way to Junior High school.

Saw R. Bros. At MGM 1996 Vegas. Fabulous.
Unchained Melody!

Ditto Steve Marriott of Humble Pie. Under rated and gone way too soon.
His songs have some of the world's great bass lines
Tommy is Always Great,, Here at his Finest....
Great Job Niles Michigan
first concert I ever went to was Tommy James and the Shondels in 1968
He can still rock. Great song. Brings back lots of good old memories.
Song reminds me of running around with my childhood friends on a warm summers night. I totally love this song. TJ still sounds great.

Going to bars with live music in the late '70's and then throughout the 80's, this was a favorite song of bands.

This has always been my parents song since they met in high school and come August they'll be married 40 years.
Wow! forty years ago, I learned how to...Rock N Roll!!!
It's absurd he's not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Don't know if anyone consistantly created such fun music as Tommy James and the Shondells.
He and Lou Christie were the nasty boys who still managed to get airplay. Great hearing this again.
Nice mellow song!

bobba fett Sounds like a nice memory :-)
bobba fett LOL I looked to see who wrote this comment to see if you were my neighbor back in the day. It sounded like a familiar scenario.
