Here's a great tale about a great man. I met BB King in an airport lounge when I was about eight (thirty+ yrs ago now!) in Sydney, Aus. He just rocked up to the viewing window while I was waiting for my aunt's plane to land. He must have been awaiting his baggage or something. Any rate, he just started chatting to me and he asked me if I played any instruments. I told him I had just started playing guitar. He got really excited, and told me he played "a bit" himself and said I should listen to and learn the blues above all else. I'll always remember, he told me where he was from, in the USA, the blues was the "start of it all". Then he gave me a plectrum and said it was a special plectrum just for blues players. About that point, I recall my dad coming up and he just started chatting with my dad, who of course recognised him. They had a good yarn, we all took a photo together (which my parents still have in an album somewhere) and then he very politely took his leave and wished us well. Such a humble man. Dad told me all about him on the way home and I immediately started learning about the blues and never looked back. Over the years, I would go on to watch him perform live several times though we never met in person again. RIP big man.
@@SinisterAnimationS I know huh? I remember it was really quiet at the airport at the time because there was a major pilots' strike going on. There were only a few flights all day. I think that's why he was able to move around freely without media in his face etc. His whole crew was milling around and they were supporting U2, so I also saw Bono walk past. I didn't recognise BB at the time, but geez he was nice to me and I get the feeling he enjoyed being anonymous for a change. I can't tell you much of what he and dad talked about (the memory has faded a bit) but I remember dad was super impressed with how "laid back" and friendly BB was and it felt like they chatted for a good ten-fifteen minutes. And we didn't even approach him - he approached me. What a legend!

B.B. King, not only an innovator of the Blues but a pioneer of one of the most important parts of playing any instrument - feel. His guitar was a part of him and it's strange to think they will never be played the same way again.
James Bell Good job he had 'feel'; when you only play two notes most of the time you need trailer loads of 'feel'. I went to see him on his farewell tour at Bournmouth and. mostly, he played the same two notes then and not a chord in sight. I know blues is more about feel than technical wizzardry but a broader range with 'feel' has to be more moving. Gary Moore supported him - he had just as much 'feel' but he played a wider range of notes.
He cast a wizard spell on that guitar, and it starting crying all by itself! Imagine being so good at something, that your name will never be forgotten!

Música para los verdaderos amantes del arte. Una expresión artística al máximo estilo. Un grande de todos los tiempos. Te fuiste pero dejaste esta tremenda obra . Descansa en paz, tu obra quedó completa.
while everything he's playing, from a technical standpoint, is relatively simple; the way he allows the guitar to sing with such soul and emotion is absolutely otherworldly
The thrill is gone The thrill is gone away The thrill is gone, baby The thrill is gone away You know you done me wrong, baby And you'll be sorry someday The thrill is gone It's gone away from me The thrill is gone, baby The thrill is gone away from me Although, I'll still live on But so lonely I'll be The thrill is gone It's gone away for good All the thrill is gone Baby, it's gone away for good Someday I know I'll be open-armed baby Just like I know, I know I should You know, I'm free, free now, baby I'm free from your spell Oh, free, free, free now, baby I'm free from your spell And now that it's all over All that I can do is wish you well
This is unbelievably tasteful. A masterclass in the use of space and dynamics. You don't need to overplay to get your point across. This is a pro, folks.
BB King. The King of Blues! And its legendary wobbling-hand vibrato, his ecstatic facial expressions and striking isolated licks and blues notes! Unparalleled genius of music. He cannot be imitated.
There are more feelings, nuance & speech that travel inside the listener in B. B. King's SINGLE NOTES - than for example in 'em overtly fast / technically complicated solos from likes of John Petrucci (Dream Theater) / Timo Tolkki (Stratovarius) Eternally greatful to have you with us Mr. King!
As an innovator in the depths of blues music, BB KING will forever be one of the most respected and influential musicians in music history. What an icon ♤
I worked security at one of his shows in Chicago. B.B.King was nice to every person he came in contact with. After the concert, he met with all the people who were fortunate to have back stage access. He met with them right on the stage as I stood next to him. I saw his interaction with people from all walks of life. He was gracious to all. When done, he gave me some special momentos that I will always cherish. I must add that at that time, his son was acting as his tour manager/advisor. The son was just as kind and gracious. You could tell that B.B.'s kindness and humanity had rubbed off on him. I always wonder where he is at now and how he is doing. Great people.
We went to BB' Kings night club in Memphis. What a fantastic concert and the food was outstanding.... we met BB and enjoyed him playing with his guys. That was a huge honor. The lights were beautiful on the clubs on both sides of that strip.....and then.......... .we got mugged a block away going to our car! Yikes! Scarry....he had what looked like a gun in his jacket pointed at us. Perfect ending to a great evening!! Lol. 🎵🎸🎷🎶

82 & still find peace in this man's voice & talent! I was blessed to be able to see him live about a year before he left us. When I listen to this I know the "thrill will NEVER be gone" as long as we have his recorded performances to listen to. Thank you B.B.♡
I'm a die hard metalhead but goddamn bb king is a legend
Good music is good music. You don't have to choose between metal and good ol blues.
Me too
Thats riiiiight
💯
Damn straight
I regret not seeing this Legend play live😢
R.I.P
BB King
I first saw him play this live in ‘91, and it gave me chills. 30 years later, I still get chills whenever I hear this played.
You don't need a million notes to bring out the emotions and make the guitar cry. Hail the King.

James Bell X I think so too xhave great dayx
I love how much touch and finesse he plays with on this version! I got to see him in Tuscaloosa Alabama before he passed away.
I can't drink water at the smoothness with which this man plays the guitar. The number of languages in the comment section speak for his genius.
I like that.
His control over the guitar's tone is simply god-like
Гений. Одно из лучших выступлений, что я видел. Храни Бог Америку за такие таланты.
Thank you for the magic and music, Sir.
😢💔 🎸🎶 👌🏻✌🏻️🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😘💋😍
You can see and feel the love and passion he has in his performances..A great one...
Blues Beast. Genius. And obviously a King.
Mr. Blues !!!
You're goddammit right
1+0h
He cast a wizard spell on that guitar, and it starting crying all by itself!
Imagine being so good at something, that your name will never be forgotten!
BB King is the reason why I started loving the blues ... The greatest 😍😍😍
Same
Música para los verdaderos amantes del arte.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Not a big fan of this kind of music but this piece glued me to the screen. Bravo.
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone, baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong, baby
And you'll be sorry someday
The thrill is gone
It's gone away from me
The thrill is gone, baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although, I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be
The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
All the thrill is gone
Baby, it's gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be open-armed baby
Just like I know, I know I should
You know, I'm free, free now, baby
I'm free from your spell
Oh, free, free, free now, baby
I'm free from your spell
And now that it's all over
All that I can do is wish you well
This is unbelievably tasteful. A masterclass in the use of space and dynamics. You don't need to overplay to get your point across. This is a pro, folks.
this is outrageously good! I've been watching this video since it was uploaded. B. B. King is an absolute LEGEND
Outrageously Good! Word Up
That guitar....havent seen anything else like it. That black body and the tone is out of this world.
The tone is in his fingers
His guitar playing is exquisite ..... his singing so heartfelt. I can't get enough of this.
BB King. The King of Blues! And its legendary wobbling-hand vibrato, his ecstatic facial expressions and striking isolated licks and blues notes! Unparalleled genius of music. He cannot be imitated.
It's almost 2020 and I'm glad to know that he'll be remembered forever.

Yes me too
There are more feelings, nuance & speech that travel inside the listener in B. B. King's SINGLE NOTES - than for example in 'em overtly fast / technically complicated solos from likes of John Petrucci (Dream Theater) / Timo Tolkki (Stratovarius)
Eternally greatful to have you with us Mr. King!
bb got me into the blues!
+WinArmy im free now baby...
+WinArmy same here, he was the greatest! Now let's keep his sound alive!
+WinArmy Yeah, BB and John Lee Hooker. Great guys!
+WinArmy I've made a cover of "What'd I say" by Ray Charles on my channel :)
what about willie dixon, he's one of my favs!
Esa guitarra habla más idiomas que todos nosotros juntos. B.B King maestro!
muy cierto compañero es simplemente magica
¡Toda la razón! Esa guitarra, su pasión por el blues, su fuerza, era único.
Luciel was the name of his guitar
this is my all time favorite version of this song...the energy is priceless
Also, his band is magnificent. Saw him live and there are literally 20 musicians on stage.
@@joelhammer3538 you’re lucky..wish I could’ve seen them live😍
There was no one better than this man
At 4:09 is the sweetest note I've ever heard played on a guitar. It's angelic.
RIP B.B. King (September 16, 1925 - May 14, 2015), aged 89
You will always be remembered as a legend.
Huh 😮 they just said he passed 12/2022 at 89
No it was much earlier. 2015 is right
The man is an absolute genius and one of the best guitar players ever! The king is gone but will not be forgotten.
As an innovator in the depths of blues music, BB KING will forever be one of the most respected and influential musicians in music history. What an icon ♤
His guitar playing is so unique and angelic...Nobody on this planet can sound like B.B King and his Lucille...
Agreed. This is probably the finest example of Rhythm & Blues -- and a huge influence on Rock 'n' Roll -- ever.
He is not dead...he lives in our hearts....❤
sehr schön gesagt😉😘
listening in 2020 during this coronavirus quarantine, the thrill is gone but still jammin'
Same here.

R.I.P Mr King
Gram 30 lat na gitarze i nie jestem wstanie tak zagrać to absolutny geniusz coś niewiarygodnego i pięknego
Jego nie moze nikt podrobic..to jest talent😮
Lol. 🎵🎸🎷🎶
A true icon of blues music, personality, sacrifice, professionalism, perseverance and of course, an innate gift. You can't ask for more. Wonderful artist.
The scratchy voice yelling the lyrics are timeless....his playing, majestic.
I was very lucky to see this wonderful man and his superb group in Birmingham many years ago, plus I was very privileged to see Peter Green with the splinter group as BB Kings support.
What a night
Rest Easy the King of the Blues! If you don’t get chills watching and listening to this check your pulse!
Just watched this for the first time, i lost it when he stood up and played his solo, wish I coulda' saw the man himself while he was alive, has a sound so gentle yet so passionate, he will always be the King.
Hipnotic! A masterpiece about feeling and dynamics!
am i the only one who thinks he should have done longer at the end!? it is so damn good, it should never end!!!
…that’s why it ain’t called the thrill is here to stay…
Listening to B.B. King, the thrill is NEVER gone. I've always imagined that this is the song they will be playing at my funeral.
YES.
The very best version by BB King and I have not heard anyone come close to it. His voice has true emotions and feelings. Incredible. I hear it frequently.
GlobalAviator1 Christone "King fish " he covered this song in luke cage true musician as well
People who cover this usually try to "show off" with their licks and speed. That's a wrong approach; say more with fewer words!
Thrill is gone gotta be the hands down best blues ever written
I saw BB in concert! What an honor to be there!! Incredible Concert.
No need for auto tune.
His voice is a mirror reflection of his guitar playing. Beautiful melodic symbiosis, if I may say so. RIP Master BB King!
actually i have to admit that i listen and discover bb king literally today, and men, honestly this dude will never leave me now
Better late then never.
INSOMNIO welcome to love
