Jon's performance gave us a taste of everything through his career! Opening with an acoustic set including guests like Marty Richards on drums... Fly Amero on guitars and amazing vocals... Allen Estes on mandolin, Sandy Macdonald on keyboards, John Ryder on bass and a room full of eager fans for his debut performance in the area as a solo artist I understand there will be much more to come with a new record out in March and a full New England Spring 2013 tour

One of the most underrated artists ever... Love his Strat tune and voice.
Perhaps misunderstood also
It's what I refer to as the crappy side of the business. Not all talented artists get nearly the recognition they deserve, John is definitely one those artists. The good thing for us is we don't need a music exec telling us what's good or bad ;) !
A older woman posted on a site I was on if wishes were horses then beggars would ride, I commented there was this song from the mid 80’s if wishes were horses then dreamers would ride by john butcher axis, I can’t believe he didn’t hit it big, he had 3 videos back then on mtv and I thought back then he was going to be the next Jimmie Hendrix, then he seemed to disappear, I I have an old concert poster of his somewhere I got off a telephone pole in Boston back then somewhere I think too,
glad i got to hear this before i die. my mom used always tell me "if wishes were horses then beggars would ride". this was fabulous, fabulous.
I was fortunate that a friend from work turned me on to John Butcher back in the early 80's. His "Wishes" cd was one of the hardest ones to find years later to add to my collection but well worth the effort!
Back in 88,l was in an original / cover band in Denver and we got to open for him in Boulder,Colo, and meet and hang out with him, super cool dude.
That's awesome! For that time he was freash air!
I lived in Boulder around that time. What was the name of your band?
Always thought JBA was way underrated. He was ahead of his time in my book.
You know it !!! I've seen & met Jon at numerous concerts and this guy can play guitar with the best !!!
Bought a record of this back around 87 or so. i learned my own verson of this. finally checked back in with this cat! not dissapointed! rock on & God bless!!
When I lived in Nashville TN long ago this got a ton of airplay. Heard it so many times on the freeway. 👍
Beautiful, under appreciated song from a beautiful, under appreciated album
Seen Jon so many times and this guy can play a guitar with the best. I can't understand why he isn't huge ? I have just about everything he's done on CD and this stuff is better than the crap they play on the radio.
I too saw Jon back in the 80's in OKC, OK. I wore this album out and so wish it was available on iTunes. Holy War had to have been the most smoking song on the album!! Thanks so much for posting.
Scott Charlson
Pictures From the Front is also a KICK ASS album!
What venue did u see him (them) at back then ?
A club on N. Portland Ave. ?
Maybe the KATTS Downtown Beach Party??
Oh my freakin' goodness!!!! I have been looking for him doing this song for YEARS!! Yes! Fan since he first did this back in the day back in the 80's in Boston!! This is great!! Thank you!!
It’s unbelievable, ain’t it?
WBCN lunch time shows!!!!!!!
I love this song, it used to get regular airplay in the DFW market on a couple of stations in the 80's.

He played at the old club Fritzis back in the day.
Both shows were SPECTACULAR!!!!!!
@@scottjohnson3693 I bought the album with this song at the southside Sound Warehouse. He was in the store and I didn't recognize him. He had just left when I checked out. The clerk told me it was him.
I was very fortunate to meet Jon a few months ago in La. And must say it was awesome to speak and listen to him. I love this song and wish him the best in 2014 and beyond.
I absolutely Love this song! Can't stop playing it. Saw Jon last Sept. for the 1st time. love his music.
seen him a couple times at the CHANNEL in Boston back in the 80's. Always an awsome show. would really love to see him again. Thanks very much for the upload!
Was blessed to see him in Charleston. Beautiful talent, beautiful man.
Wow that was great. I saw him at a local club over 30 years ago when we were both kids. Back at the club Bene in the 80s

A very distinctive voice. Well done
Hey Jon, Great tune...one of my favorites.
West End Marketplace in Dallas used to have free concerts on Monday nights way back when. He played one of them and I thought he was great. Holy War was another good song on that album.
Excellent as always, such talent and feeling from within.
Love this song...very cool.
Been around the Boston area for a very long time! Would love to see him do some shows opening for Warren Haynes. He'd mesh well with Warren and all he is about!
Beautiful song and tones! :)
awesome!
Saw JBA play at the Frolics in Salisbury beach,MA
Saw Marty play drums a bunch of times with Bobby Keye's and Marty Ballou on Bass... This is some great stuff!
Love it!!!
Holy shit!!!!! Unbelievable
Cool.
He needs some good people backing him to promote him! Push his music, his shows and blast it all over!
I heard this way back when and have been a fan since. Barefoot Servants was a good band too. Love that Strat and Fender amp sound!
I wish I could have been there with my audio and video gear.
That's a really nice strat
Very NICE!
Awesome track! Rock it Jon!
Reminds of me of Hendrix and Trower. What a player!
Sweet!
Nice!
I love you John 😍
Good one. Thanks.
WOW!
How about you and John Cafferty meet up in Dallas? I'm payin and I'm all in 😍
Just discovered him tonight...He's really good...sure took some lessons from Hendrix...when was he popular?...he must of been underrated for me to not have been aware of this much talent....... Who/where is this guy?
Jon Butcher is from Massachusetts. jonbutcher.com
Nice; Thanks for posting
God do I miss you this is music what ever happened
God do I miss you this is music what ever happened
I'd like to see Jeff Beck & Jon Butcher together. Two of the best guitarists around.
Beautiful! Bass player nailing it. Who is that guy?
John Ryder on Bass.
if these folks knew what they were listening to they would not be talking jb axis is an all time great one..
JBA!!! 🤘🏾
Yeeeeeaaaaah
😂🤘🏾
positvely the blues,
Shades of Hendrix and Stevie Ray. Hold on to Jesus brother but never let go of your Liberty Keep the lovelight burning. And always do right when nobody's looking Peace😎
OH YEAH
Someone tell me why this guy isn't huge. He's been around forever, has good songs, sings with a totally soulful voice and plays with serious authority. I mean, no disrespect, but why is a dull cat like Robert Cray at Crossroads every year and not Butcher?
I've met Robert Cray, truly great and humble artist. We stood outside the Queen Theater in Delaware for about 45 mins talking in sub zero weather lol. I would actually like to see JB and RC collaborate on some work together.
Axis whas not that much my thing, but man, Barefoot servants, and electric factory and positivly the blues, years ago, kicked me in the 🌰🌰 I learned to play thnx to jeff healey, gary moore, srv, Chris duarte, and than I learned about jon, thnx to blues bureau by mike varney, leslie west, pat travers, Tony spinner, and off-course joe bonamassa, lance lopez, walter trout.... etc etc.... I can go on until next week hahaha 😊😊😊
Nah one of the best
the obvious next part of the hendrix....trower....blackmore.....SRV....puzzle...
Anybody know what kind of Stratocaster he is playing? It looks like a road worn Stratocaster!
Yes, shamefully overlooked.
JB play's a seat axe
a w e s o m e n e s s
can't believe there is empty chairs......wish my ass was in one of them
