He used to be famous for claiming that when Hendrix died, his spirit entered Jon's body. DJs everywhere would nearly always talk about just before or right after they played this song on the radio.

@@johnpearson4899 I think you are confusing him with the urban legend that surrounded Frank Marino (which also wasn't true). I know Jon for some years and take it from me he never said anything like that.

@stlrockn @stlrockn Thanks for the info. That's good to know the truth, but if there is/was anyone confusing anything, it wasn't me. It was a number of different DJs in the Nashville area. When Wishes was released, it got a LOT of air play (thankfully) in the southeast and hopefully elsewhere. The DJs would quote that from an interview Jon had supposedly given somewhere. I'm not saying he really said it. Just saying that was what was regularly stated. I, for one, had no argument. I love JB's work. I'm also a big Frank Marino/MR fan. Have been since the mid 70s. I hated that his health forced him to retire a couple of years back.

I was maybe 14 or 15, my 31yr old girlfriend "tips" the bouncer $40, we were seated at the table closest to this stage... the DJ comes across the mic and welcomes everyone to Nashville's number one hotspot "CHEERS"! He introduced a man named Jon Butcher Axis. Wishes was the song he opened up with. I'm a 50 years old now and have been a rocker all my life. I played music for a living for 25yrs and very few musicians can bring tears down my face. THANK YOU Mr. BUTCHER AXIS

We’re both adopted and we became really close friends. we talked all night long so many nights I could never even tell you. I got stuck and I needed to sell a guitar to get home and it was hers. She got it from an old boyfriend. I feel bad that it went down the way that it did and I don’t think she’s ever really forgiven me. I’m not the kind of person that she wants in her life after all. Holy sweet bejeesuz! The last time I heard this song, it was constant rotation on WKDF 103.3 in Nashville, where my fam lived at the time this song came out. At the same time, I also recall seeing the vid for the previous single off this album, "Goodbye Saving Grace". But this song struck a much more resonant chord with my 13-year-old self! I don't, however, remember seeing a vid for this song, and I'm still not sure it ever came out as a single. But it was #1 with a bullet in my young heart. I wore this record out in the 80's. Had to buy a second copy I played it so much. One of my all time favorite albums. How is this not available on streaming? So Sad. Love the drums!

Dedicated to that little red headed lady of mine back in the 80s. Too young and immature to love you like you deserved. Sorry for any pain I caused and wish you God's richest blessings in your life. I'll always have you in my Summer time memories.

My roommate back in the 80's after I left the Army had this cd and I fell in the love with this song. I never knew who sang it, though, until tonight! Great song and a great guitar player!

I've loved this song since it first came out. If you search UA-cam for "If wishes were horses" you'll see it's a common song name. But this is still my favorite song on this theme.

If wishes wer real id wish my parents wer both alive and my family wasn't divided also id wish people would stop judging me and always think the worst of me and not be treated like shit or looked at like im a failure aint no one understand anything ive been thru then just assume i fuck everything up shit i aint perfect but im no piece of shit and i try not to look down on people and judge wut i dont understand but im human and we all judge wut we see but not wut we know or understand. Im no greedy money hungry bastard and i dont turn my back on ones i luv much less a stranger if i do its because i got so much shit on my mind i look like im pissed off but just stressed out and thinking so much especially about the ones i love the most and some random people ive met n tried to help even if its the shirt off my back or wut little food i can or just wut i have in my pocket if i know it might help another in need. Shit i dont do it to be proud or to be praised by people but to put a smile on my Jesus and my heavenly father. Yeah i know we all have problems some have it worse but a lot of people these days have no compassion no love or care for any1 but themselves. I try to stay humble in my struggles and know that not everyone has an idea of what Jesus expects from us. Ive learned a lot in life through life and try to make my part even though i deal with my struggle and my health physically mentally and emotionally but i try to do whats right but its just a trip hard times for me about the worst its ever been but its always the same judgement from the world but the world will be judged one day. I look at so much niw and think to myself im going thru my own TRIBULATION as its stated in the big big book and see that all signs are in place as its written yeah it worries me about many souls but notmuch seem to care ive prayed not only for my country but for loved ones people i meet n sumtimes never see again but i try to show HOSPITALITY to all even if as its written always show HOSPITALITY in by doing so you never know when you might be entertaining an angel. I also think of the story i read of the 2 traveling angels and ther journey from a poor couples house who offered there bed food drink and death came to take the wife but god intervened by the angel offering there only cow who supplied them with milk and thereincome. 2 angels left sad went to a rich persons house treated them cruel made them sleep in the basement the angelsvsaw hidden treasure ut buried it closed off the wall because of there greed of the rich people and the little angel asked why to big angel things aren't always wut they seem. We treat people badly but never see it God jesus forgive me wen i am blinded by life n not understanding. I see now why it says kean not on your own understanding but trust in the lord. Forgive me lord for not trusting you and leaning on my own understanding. Im trying Jesus its real hard as i try to walk on your path of narrowness we alk need your mercy love hope and forgiveness towards you and each other. Im not perfect hell no i aint im a sinner but i try every day
