Not a coffee drinker myself. My wife is a coffee snob though. She has a rotation of mugs she uses on a regular basis. I've always said the only coffee I can drink, is a Grande cup from Starbucks, with 1 shot of espresso in a White Mocha. My wife tastes it and asks if there is any coffee in it. I smile and say that's the way I like it. But seriously, I just get a frozen hot chocolate at my wife's favorite coffee shop. It's my favorite.
I drink my coffee from the same mug that I've drank it from for the past 16 years. The mug has survived many ups and downs throughout the years including a few attempts of my wife trying to replace it :)
I really enjoyed this. It made me think of the mugs my Mom and Dad always used when I was growing up in the 1960's. My Mother is now 99 and still uses that same mug. I have a favorite mug with the message "Just a girl that decided to go for it" written on the front. I hope my granddaughter wants it some day, to remember me...always striving to try new things...like this youtube thing lol. I think of family pieces like mugs as simple memory keepers to hand down and always enjoy day to day. Great topic Phil!
@@whatsupboomer1958 Mom's mug is about as simple as it gets, that narrow at the bottom wider at the top, quite a small mug, ceramic, small handle opening though, I have no idea how her old fingers still grip it lol and a beautiful muted pink. Mom and Dad had the same mugs but pink for Mom and blue for Dad, although since Dad is gone she uses the blue one now. How cute is that, they were married for over 60 yrs.
Wow, I never gave it that much thought… Found this very interesting. My favorite mug is hand thrown pottery. Blue and brown glaze. Wide the bottom with the much-needed drip edge at the top. Has a wide flat thumb grip. Best of all rescued from a thrift store.
I used to drink a lot of coffee in my former radio life. I still drink it, just very rarely, but when I do, I seem to do so for a period of time (maybe seasonal). Nothing fancy, dark roast with French vanilla and sugar. Never really got into a favorite mug. I guess because in radio, we had those bulk Styrofoam cups. You should try taking a pottery class if there's a ceramics studio near you! You could document the process of learning the throwing wheel and hand crafting your perfect mug. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has also put so much thought into such things :)
@@whatsupboomer1958I totally second this :) I'm taking a pottery class that's focusing on mugs and there's So much to learn and thing about when it comes to mugs! There are so many different body shapes, different rims, and handles you can play with to make your own perfect mug. Plus it has the sentimental value of being something you made yourself :)

I have a favourite coffee mug. I like a large mug, but I hadn't analysed all the other aspects!
To be honest, I didn't think of ever analyzing mugs. But I realized over the years I found favorite things about the different mugs I've used.😁
