Why I shouldn't have started a business (What I lost and learned)
If I had only put my money in an investment and was able to hold onto it, what a difference that would have made. An entertaining story but true. Not for investment advice but if only I had put my money to work differently.

7 Memories of Past Elections only Boomers will remember

Well, it is finally over ... the election of 2024! And it will be long remembered. I was thinking about past elections, and recall in this video a few memorable electoral events including some that were quite humorous. These historical memories on the choosing of the country's leader have shaped who we have become. I think reflecting on our past can help as we go forward. Do you have an electio...

I'm about the same age as you and probably in a similar situation. I have been self-employed with a DBA for about 25 years and had managed to keep my head above water but not much more. I became dependent on one big client and they downsized a couple of years ago and all my income was gone. Had they waited another couple of years I would have been modestly OK with no great needs. Instead, I'm scrambling.

You convey a relaxed storytelling ability that you learned from your years of teaching. I'm glad you are moving forward and putting effort, time, and energy into your YT community for 2025. Congrats on a New Year - perfectionism can really take us down.. I have two channels.. this one and a tech one and my goal is to hit monetization by year end. One of my biggest issues is I consume so many videos on "how" to do UA-cam vs actual creating my own - working on improving that. I love the storytelling aspect and the "real" people - and yep I am over 60- this year I will be momma to a man who is 40 years old. So not only am I OVER 40 - I have a child who will be over 40 :D I also want community - it's slowly growing. I am totally not interested in too many people heh. Monetization is the dream but I am ok with just building a community and making connections. I am a fan sir - keep up the good work.

Years ago working as a stagehand I experienced the "good tired" of slogging through strike and load-out followed by the good feeling you get afterward. It was the structure. It's obvious when the truck door closes that the job is done. Creative tasks lack that structure. You can second guess, re-record and edit something forever, and that gets discouraging. You're doing great! 👍

Happy New Year Boomer 🎉 - my new year has been dealing with the worst cold / flu I've had in a long time ( even pink eye _ yuck ) - through all this I've still been medatating daily which is really where I get my insight and peace of mind - I did have a lot of videos I wanted to do and will hopefully will not be coughing as much soon . it has allowed for tons of planning time and time to just work on fractals and ideas - Have an awesome 2025

Glad to see you back. I really look forward to your videos because I can relate to a lot of what you say. I'm 56, been semi-retired since 2005 and have this creative aspect I just have to get out somehow. I'm great at learning and planning, but doing is my roadblock. Paralysis by Analysis! So I get stuck in the weeds and "what if's" in my own mind. It's horrible. I love the holiday season, but I hate the first business day after. All the build up and excitement, then poof, it's all over. Guilt is another big one for me. Since I lost my wife suddenly in 2018, I've had a very difficult time moving forward. When you combine the guilt with the stuck feeling it's very difficult to put one foot in front of the other and get anything done. That snowballs into frustration and anger, which just feeds the whole cycle again. But I admire what you're doing. Not flashy, just honest, unpolished (not a dig on you), truth about where you are. I'd say be compassionate towards yourself, you're impacting me. And I'm pulling for you. You seem to be on the cusp on getting to the next level, not a massive leap, just a step up. If I can do anything to help, please reach out. I have over 2 decades of broadcast experience, including production, etc. Good Luck Mark from Texas

What an amazing way to begin a new year, with a sunrise! I gave up the new years eve midnight thing long ago lol Doing and growing on youtube in going to be my thing for 2025 too. Also I think it's important to not do things as well, I plan on watching less social media, the endless scroll is such a waste of time. I plan to read more, I just picked up four books today actually. Ditch the perfection, I prefer to watch the real creators (2026..that was good) ☺ And yes to the story telling idea! Scientists have done studies that show people are a little delusional about themselves. For instance, people tend to think they are better looking....uh than they actually ARE. People tend to think they are smarter... than they actually prove on IQ tests. If someone asks you your height, most folks will fudge it upwards by at least a half inch. So naturally, we will be wrong about how long we are gonna live. Smokers are the most delusional about this. But your point is correct, we just do not know. Might make a good run against all odds, but probably won't.

As I learn more about your stories and backstories, one factor that plays into your channel's success is your time as a middle school teacher. I have an extensive background in radio broadcasting and editing audio, none in video, but the "general" concepts are similar. I enjoy the content and look forward to your next videos. It's about enjoying the journey. TIP: To display comments, just take a screenshot of the comment, then just crop out everything around it and save it. I suggest a Folder where you can organize them, so you know what you already used. Then just overlay the comment over your main video (you talking), resize the cropped comment to the size you want. Hope that helps. Keep it up!

I wasn't pushing my channel. I figured I get serious after New Year, so I'm just having fun. Doing different challenges. People don't really need to start out with a niche because it changes as you figure out what you really want to do so don't be in a hurry. Let your channel evolve. Untill you're more sure of where you wanna go pivot, but have fun If you want to make something with UA-cam, you have to make it a job but it doesn't mean it has to be a exhausting frustrating job. It's already tough enough when there's so much you don't know and you're learning anyways keep bringing out the great videos so we can keep watching them.
