    Lol I love chrome, back in the late '90s/early '00s when I was a kid nearly everyone rode an all chrome bike. Now I just have chrome bars, forks and cranks, still looks baller af.

    I know these are pretty old vids, just wanted to say thanks for these, the technical side to BMX parts. I haven't ridden BMX for 30yrs, since I started driving. I did the engine swaps, car racing, motorcycle thing, gunsmithing, and gaming PC building. I got back into street/park riding because I didn't want to be just playing Elden Ring on my ass. I'm old-skool, just pick up a bike and ride. Now I'm building my bike that I always wanted when I was 16, but with better parts. Thanks to your vids, they give me a little more insight before I buy.

    I have the Fit high top stem and I love it. I don't have to run that shadow conspiracy deadest cap anymore. Just two good spacers and the Fit stem has it chillin at a moderate height. 🤘🤘🏽

    A couple things I want to add to chosing a fork. I've been riding the S&M fastpitch fork, and noticed its taller than my Shadow fork. I noticed the gap from the top of my tire to the bottom of the steerer tube was 1/8 taller on my S&M fork. That little bit of rise is noticed when hopping. It hopped easier. Also the short offset of the fastpitch fork which is 13mm not only helps nose manuals, hang fives, but spinning 360's, half cabs, full cabs etc spin quicker with a short offset. There's less drag from the front tire. Oh and chrome does indeed attract thieves.

  • @TheDoozie43

    The bars more forward WILL in fact give you more height in bunny hops because there’s more distance between the bars and your chest to start with, and they’re closer to the wheel...so therefore there’s more space to pull them up which obviously brings the wheel further up also proportionally.

    I ride federal assault Forks 15mm offset which is small because I wanted to learn nose manuals.. but my riding style is like Larry Edgar (no where near as good) so flow/bowls and trails. I don't know how much a bigger offset would effect my riding style, because it feels fine for airs and hops and stuff... opinions?

  • @phillipwilliams8805
    @phillipwilliams8805 3 роки тому

    Does the offset affect the stability of the forks. Have you ever witnessed forks braking. If so do you think that they broke do to the offset on the forks caused by to much pressure on the forks do to weight and stress. Do you think that their is a offset fork that is more stable than other offset forks.

    A long dropout offset means the wheel is more likely to hit your toes when the front is turned back on you. Isn't a longer stem better for bringing your weight forward for nose manuals and short stems better for bar spins?

I love big bars as much as the next person, but if I can drop them down with a stem I always do! Even though I've BMXed for 44 years now, boy I sure don't know it all! yo alf you had me weak talking about the chrome. I'm getting a new fork soon what would you recommend, I am very prone to bending my dropouts Cuz I do a lot of Smith grinds and I tend to land kinda hard so I bend the drop outs. great explanation on all this too BTW.

    • @Peculiarsafe83
      @Peculiarsafe83 7 років тому

      Tom_nobreaks if you bend the dropouts get heat treated forks with investment cast dropouts or a fork with the whole bottom part of the fork leg including the dropout being investment cast.

    Stem length has more of an effect on steering than ability to pop onto the front wheel.
    Assuming the bar angle is the same....
    A longer stem will give you mellower steering and by putting your weight further forward(similar to running your bars chicago'd) make it slightly easier to pop onto the front wheel.
    A shorter stem will give you snappier steering but actually make it slightly more difficult to pop onto the front wheel.
