While often overlooked, fork geometry plays a major role in overall bike feel. Measurements like fork height, offset and steerer tube length can affect wheel base length, steering feel and headtube angle. So the next time you're in the market for a new BMX fork, take some time to think about what might work best for you.

I got back into it at the tail end of the "heavy duty" era, with a DBI frame and 14mm Pitchfork. There were still 43t sprockets too, though you could go down to a 39 or so by then. Next thing you know everyone was running the Odyssey race forks.

Great video. I wish you would have touched on the different methods of snugging the fork down on the headset.

Hey so I have an odyssey r25 fork on a cult Heavens gate frame. The headset is small compared to the forks steering height.
    I'm using a front load stem.(8mm)
Should I keep 30mm of spacers down below or should I put a spacer on top of my stem to bring down the height? What would you do in a situation like this danscomp? I don't use breaks or plan on cutting the forks. Cheers

You could really go either way and it will work. You can leave it where it's at now and just add the spacer on top of the stem. If you don't mind the extra height you could put the spacer under the stem, but you're making the front end sit up taller. It's really up to you and your preferences.

@@danscompvideos I guess there isn't much of a change then. I'll keep it as is asceticism. (I think having a spacer on top of the stem looks bad) but perhaps I could try putting a spacer on top or the stem and taking off some mm off the bottom

@@vl995 Yeah doesn't look as clean, but really the only thing to do if you're not interested in raising your front end or cutting the steerer tube.

@@danscompvideos yeah I wish they'd make regular size for every forks but odyssey are like 180 and while most of them are 165. What ever though I guess I'll just rider and maybe mess with it a little. Thanks
