I work at Wal-Mart and I am the guy that has to markdown the packages people have left behind from stealing. Can confirm, breaking fishing poles in half is still a common thing Dan, and I've had like full size air compressors be stolen so your speakers and amp ain't shit.

Active EJ yeah they're called RF tags there's a small chip that produces a low frequency when you walk through the sensors it picks it up and triggers the alarm. When you purchase a product and they scan it on the scanner it burns the chip away so it stops working. they're so ridiculously cheap that it doesn't matter. like only costs like a cent or two to produce. but anyways they are inside the stickers

The walmart near me had probably the shittiest loss prevention I've ever seen. No loss prevention employee and the security cameras can't make a face clear from 10 feet away. As you can imagine, this walmart gets stolen from daily.
Went through a similar situation where a girl I worked with falsely accused me of sexual harassment due to the fact that I was younger than her and had a higher position. Her dad was a member of corporate for the company I worked at and I almost lost my job. It's shitty how a system designed to protect people can be used as a weapon.
I work retail and theft is a big problem but my particular store we will get fired if we try to stop a thrive it's almost like they want people to steal for some reason I see it every day

In NC if you disable a security device it makes a larceny of any amount a felony. I’m sure Georgia has a similar statute.
Just a heads up, when Wal-Mart has excessive shrinkage, which is mostly due to theft, employees lose their bonuses. Shit rolls downhill.
The bonus is tied directly to losses at Walmart so if you have 100 employees at the time and have a total of $100 then you lose 1 it adds up fast from what a friend told me

The whole 500 law is all a crossed the US. I found that out easily when I went out spray painting in 2014 on Halloween Eve. I ended up with a 4th degree Felony for Criminal Damage to Govt Supported Property. I got away with spray painting 4 other buildings, but the mayor gave me a middle finger for spray painting a police/fire dept and a water dept. The other places didn't press charges and one place actually didn't get back to the police on time. In the end I beat the system with a program and avoided my 2 - 3 year prison sentence and the fines. Now on April 19, 2018 (the month and day I got off of the year long program) I can go to the police dept and get my charges removed off my record. Yes, I do wish I wasn't so damn stupid and I'm not proud of it either.
Damn Dan, radios are one thing but groceries? That's hardcore. On a side note my Mom and Step Dad both work for Wal Mart at night and they say that people literally put a huge flat screen in there buggy and just walk out the main entrance that is supposed to be locked past a certain time at night.

Me and my friend had a similar technique, he slipped a disc with a tag on in to someone's bag, and while the alarm is going off and they're being searched, we would walk out with a bag of video games and dvds, I was like 12 or 13 at the time

I started stealing from WalMart when I was a teen. I was bored, I didn't hang out with friends or go to parties, so to give myself an adrenaline rush I stole. It started with candy, then moved on to phone chargers, and a PC game or two. I had a friend who walked in, grabbed a cart, stuck a 60 inch TV in it, and just walked out. 2
I stole some food and necessities maybe $50 worth but i gave it to homeless people, the store scammed me because a chick that worked there didnt like me and kicked me out(had security remove me) right after I paid and didnt let me take my purchases.
Yeah the walmart garden is a pain. I hate watching that gate.
