Long term crash effects do suck. I wrecked on a Honda 250R trike over 30 years ago and still have pain from all the fractures (Wrist, hand, collar bone, ribs, leg and both ankles) cold damp weather is the worst for it now. Keep up the great vids and ride safe Dan.
yeah accidents suck. im currently disabled from a dude pulling out in front of me, i fractured my pelvis in 3 different places, fractured my femur, fractured my left hand, wrist, and arm in 6 places, fractured my right wrist, and tore my acl and pcl in my left leg. so i cant walk for a minimum of 6 weeks plus the two weeks just before surgery on my pelvis. so im having so much fun right now because some guy thought itd be smart to make a left hand turn right in front of me when he shouldnt have. completely destroyed my r1. still makes me sad because it was my dream bike and it wasnt even my fault. im lucky to be alive right now. everyone in the ER said almost 100% of people with a pelvic injury like mine die instantly. im very lucky to be alive. but doc said i should make a full 100% recovery. so im looking forward to it. keep up the good work Dan. love the videos especially right now.

I went and watched it and I just want you to know we all love and support you. I have noticed a difference in your content and general mood but I couldn't quite figure it out until having listened to your explanation. Hey Dan, not sure if your question was rhetorical or not, but yeah backpack carry is doable. I carry in my backpack when I ride sometimes. The 5.11 COVRT 18 backpack has a nifty CCW pocket with a big velcro panel to attach a holster to. Plenty of tactical usefulness while not screaming "mall ninja".
Skepperly I use to throw my little 9mm ar pistol in my bag but now it's having issues. so imma take it to liberty so they can fix it
Dude, I always thought I dealt with my physical pain well until I was finally able to get some decent pain relief. I never realized how much the pain was effecting my mood. It's insane how much my mood has changed for the better, I'm so much slower to anger now, and have far more patients than I did before.
you should really try physical therapy for your neck, it'll try to correct your posture and strengthen and stretch weird muscles in your neck that are rarely ever used, could be beneficial. Chiropractors are kind of like bandaids, while physical therapy focuses on muscles to support your bones to lessen the pain if not get rid of it
Marc Wolinsky usually you can see your doctor and they can write out a referral to attend physical therapy, depending on what insurance you have and what insurance the place takes will determine how much you have to pay per visit. the highest I've seen is like $100 a visit and others can be like $5 or free, mostly depends on your insurance. I work for PT solutions, they are owned and ran by therpists, I went there after my motorcycle crash and they gave me a job once I was back on my feet and capable.
Theodore Wilk physical therapy is a BITCH and insurance bitch slaps you for doing it, but in the long run its well worth it.
Change Needed they show you what to do, and you just have to continue it, doesn't require a lot of visits, just good stuff to throw into your normal workout to help strengthen muscles to support weakened areas of your body

Thank you so much for the disclaimer before the carnage. For some reason, when it comes to other people's serious injuries I cringe so bad. But when it comes to my injuries I'm just whatever about it.

That mini survival kit was pretty bad ass! I am not a gun person, but I do camp...and I would feel a lot more comfortable being lost if I had something like that with me.

Dan I have been watching your videos for years now and the greatest moment so far was in this video I was getting ready to smoke and I pull out my stuff and that was exactly when you said I smell weed lol anyways keep doing what you're doing man thanks for the dedications and content!
I know I'm commenting super late but my cousin was in a bad accident. Broke something like 70 bones. He had to eat through a straw for like 2 months because he was so fucked up. Broke eye sockets, face palates, vertebrae in back, both arms, one wrist, a leg, neck. Other shit broke. He had insane road rash. His girlfriend who was on the bike was killed. Decapitated if I remember correctly. He went to prison for a few years after his 4 month hospital stay. He lives with PTSD and survivors guilt. Shits nuts. He still rides too. Same here.
What's your workout routine like? Exercises, stretching, warmups, etc?

It's the wrecking that puts me off trying to start, to be fair. I'm still keen on learning but I've been ran over as a pedestrian and the pain I remember from that is a real mental barrier. Wasn't even a big contact. Took a wing mirror to the kidney at a crossing. My kidney was fine and whatever blood I was pissing out soon cleared up. Unfortunately, I've got a trapped nerve in my hip which irritates me every so often.
Can you get out of a ticket if you make it illegibly covered in blood?

I broke the middle toe on my left foot in basic training in 2003. To this day I can still rebreak the toe if I jump down from a tailgate. I can tell when there is a sharp pain but now days it goes away pretty quickly and I can go about my day no problem.

Some nerves can take a couple years to heal. I split my thumb in 1/2 with a lawn mower blade right down the center. Had no feeling for 6months but it all came back. Got lucky I didn't cut a nerve. But had only tingling for like 6 months.

Just recently my cousin wrecked a quad with not helmet on and he was traveling at a decent rate. Long story short his right hand is very very screwed up. He fractured his skull and broke his back. He's doing well now. Never knew u wrecked Dan
So far at 19, I haven't broken any bones, thankfully. I might've had a sprain or two, but that's about it.

Try the purple pillow. Hurt my neck in a rollover accident. It did wonders so far.

Broke both my arms about 2 years ago, one after the other. Broke my left hand, and a week after I got the cast off the left, I broke the right one. My wrists have never been the same. Can't bench-press anything because my wrists will actually break.
Have broken a few things, a few dislocations. Not much fun. I like the little survivor kit, may have to skip the whiskey for a week.

bones heal crazy fast, a few thousand dollar reset and cast can quickly turn into a ten's of thousands surgury. always get it checked out as soon as you can, x-rays are super cheap. I hope your all good though bro.
Dan, this past Saturday I was running an obstacle course and when I going up the warped wall my grip slipped and I couldn't get my hands under my fast enough and my jaw slammed into the bottom of the ramp, I bit part of my tongue off and knocked three teeth out.

Broken bones are much better than torn tendons, ligaments, and nerve damage. I feel your pain with your feet. I broke my talus bone in my left ankle and tore my brevis tendon in my right ankle (no weight bearing on both feet for months). Tendon injuries are really slow to heal, and you're constantly afraid of tearing it again. I had around 30% of my tendon removed, and had my ligaments cut and re-attached during surgery. The ankle that I broke has a lot of nerve damage (from my terrible surgeon) and It now has a lot of arthritis too.
In other words, my ankles will be F'up for the rest of my life. That's why I need to stick with bikes that aren't too heavy. Drove my neighbors Harley 1200 cc cruiser (saddle bags, stereo, etc) that weighs about 1000 lbs. At every stop light I was like fxck, this bike is heavy.
Hope you don't hurt anything else (which is hard not to do riding bikes regularly).
Sorry you had to go through that the pain must have been excruciating .

I can agree that breaking bones sucks more than it may sound. I broke my stupid spine in 3 places last august in a bike accident. I couldnt have lifted a napkin off of a chair for about 2 months cause it hurt so bad to bend over, imagine that.

i used to live in Hiram, Georgia..my brother and sister still live there.
did the same thing to my middle and ring finger on my right hand. was being dumb and pushed a door open by the window and my hand went through the glass. severed all the nerves and tendons in both fingers, and the blood vessel in the middle finger. ring finger healed after first surgery no problems. however in june i am going for my 5th surgery on my middle for a tendon graft cause mine is fucked! not fun guys, dont play with sharp objects!
