I bought my air fryer before I watched this video. With all the hint and tips you gave in this video. It look like I bought great one. Hisense H06AFBK1S1 Air Fryer. $75 (R1400)Removable basket handle, that can be replaced easily. Capacity5.0L for the basket , 6.3L for the pot. 1700w. with 2 year warranty. No smell, low noise. I know you guys cant under what I am going to tell you now. With the power loadsheding in South Africa. You have less time to cook. So all my Dishes take 15min to make, so air fryer is perfect before the power goes out. This morning I made great quick easy breakfast with toast, eggs, bacon and hash brownies with one load in my air fryer in 12min . With accessories trays, 3layers, bread and egg on the bottom tray, hash brown in middle and bacon on top. The bacon was dripping on hash brown and toast, adding extra flavour and made even more crispy So thanks you Cathy for your inspiration. Your video gave me great ideas.

Hi Cathy I have been using the the Instant brand 5.7 Vortex plus with filters for over 12 months now and in my opinion it is just great.
I find that the way to clean up is to remove any grease with paper towel , replace the grate a squirt of washing up liquid,a couple of inches of hot water and leave to soak while you enjoy your meal - then quick brush over the grate under running hot water and the same with basket and dry off with paper towel 👍👍

For those that dont care to save the bacon grease. I have used a slice of bread, in the bottom of the AF between the inner basket and the bottom, it soaks up a lot of that grease. Easier clean up.

Actually I do prefer to save my bacon grease I usually bake my bacon in my oven on a baking rack over a foil lined baking sheet. When it's done I spoon it off and it's clear like a clarified bacon grease to fry eggs in, I keep the grease in a closed container in the fridge.

I have owned approximately 7 or 8 air fryers since the first Phillips hit the market. To name a few, Dash, Phillips, Simply Ming, Kalorik, and Cosori. I have had a positive experience with all. One of the things I don't like are trays. I prefer the basket to the slide out trays like an oven. I don't like the difficulty of cleaning the trays with grids; soaking and scrubbing, not my thing. I own one of the recalled Cosori's and am following the process to return it. However, I am currently using the Corsori Dual Blaze (due to you Cathy). What I like about it is the size. It's a 6.8 capacity AF. I like the nonstick, I prefer the basket. I like the ease of setting my cooking speeds and heat levels. What I don't like is the max cooking of 400 degrees, I wish it were at least 450. I don't care for the bottom tray which over time loosens and falls out when the AF is hot. I liked my Pro because the oil and fats would remain at the bottom - as in a mini deep fryer. Over all, I am thrilled with the ease of this product, the time saving and the cleaning. I rarely if ever use my oven anymore. Thank you Cathy for your huge contribution to my cooking experience! It's been a blast.

As newcomers to the world of air fryers, we took the plunge and bought the Cosori Dual Blaze in January, after lots of research. Since then we have simply never switched on our old oven. Seems hard to better, perfectly suited to the two of us. Around a half to one-third of cost of oven (half the wattage, just two-thirds of cooking time, no warming. And everything so far has been perfect or simply requiring a tiny tweak to later times/temperature/preparation.

I love your videos. The reason I bought a cosori was you! I loved it Ihad bought a 5.8 with the dial in 2021. Unfortunately this was on the recall, I cried cutting the cord..lol..but they are sending a new one. I couldn’t wait and ordered the 5.8 pro 2. I ordered cosori again because they stand behind their product, a voluntary recall is amazing. Yes it is taking time…2 million units! Thank you for your honest opinions

I have the Ninja Foodi 8qt. I love that it has two storage trays and can do smart cooking.
This allows for two items to be cooked at the same time and end at the same time.
As a single person, that is a BIG seeking point for me that I love.
I don't like that the temperature mode does not allow you to decrease temp to 370F. It goes from 375F to 365F.

I have 3 Cosories and I love all of them but my Dual Blaze is my favorite of all the air fryers I've ever used. I have zero issues with it. I have never had the grate in the bottom of it fall out. The fact that I don't have to shake the food or remember to do one thing or another is absolutely fantastic for me. I don't think there is any way I could be happier than I am with the Dual Blaze. Well, ...maybe, if it was 8 or 9 quart would be better; but, I am still very happy like it is.

I'm a new air fryer user, just 4 months. I used your videos and Amazon reviews to pick the Cosori Pro 2, waited for a price drop, and I like it a LOT. My favorite feature is the dual basket, so easy to just dump the fries or other foods right onto the plates. I also like the shake reminder. I don't cook bacon in it as I don't want to have to clean the splatter.
I don't like to cook and don't use the air fryer a lot, but when I do use it I really like the features and speed. I now buy those Pillsbury trays of pre-cut cookie dough and make 8-9 cookies at a time. My husband really likes fresh-baked warm cookies "right out of the oven."

I had the Cosori Pro II, and liked it very much, other than cleaning the basket with all those slanted slits. Switched to a Cosori Dual Blaze and adore it! Cleaning is so easy, and with no pre-heating and no flipping/shaking it makes air frying even simpler. The insert with the holes is much easier to clean than the basket of the Pro II, and most of the time it isn’t used. (You gave me the hint of only using it if you don’t want your food sitting in oil.) I use parchment paper liners and “bowls” some of the time too. The only downside? I wish all the buttons lit up when turned on so they’d be easier to read.

    • @bethjeans3780
      @bethjeans3780 Рік тому +2

Oh, and I don’t worry about the center hole in the insert tray. If it bothered me I’d just put a bit of foil over it. But if a tiny French fry finds its way to the bottom, it doesn’t burn, so I don’t care. Plus air fryer parchment paper can take care of it.

Until I first used an air fryer, I avoided cooking despite being married to a chef. But when I first got a Helogen oven/air fryer, I loved cooking in that one. I than made a trip to a friend and used Emeril Lagasse air fryer and it was not bad. I got lucky to be given a dash 2 quart that was in bad shape due to people putting oil in it for fries, thinking it was a deep fryer. I cleaned it up and used it and regifted it when I moved. I now have a home shopping HQ 2 qt air fryer that i cook and reheat everything in.

Well, my Corsori, which I loved, was in the recent recall, so I’m currently waiting for my replacement Cosori. Being the impatient person I am, decided this was my opportunity to get another one that was bigger. (I love cooking in my air fryer and felt so lost without it.) I now have the Instant Versa Zone and I love all the extra space on the inside. It does not take up that much more room on my counter, which was quite surprising to me. The very first time I went to use my Versa Zone, there was a problem with he reheat button, but even though I could still use the other functions, I spoke with Instant Brand customer service and they are sending me a new one. They were great! So I’m excited to have two air fryers to use, once the replacement from Cosori arrives. I love my air fryers! I rarely use my oven.
Cleaning the Corsori I had was not hard, but the Versa Zone with the tray instead of the basket fits nicely in my sink, making cleanup a breeze. I don’t think i will need to run it through the dishwasher as often as I did my Cosori. I can see the cooking benefits of both styles of trays/baskets. I will probably use my oven even less now. I don’t understand why people won’t use their air fryers more, unless they only have a really small one. They are still very useful, but having a bigger one and being able to use it for bigger meals is amazing.
PS…I love your channel and recommend it to all air fryer users, but especially those new to using air fryers.

Have you tested the new Phillips Air Fryer? I bought my first AF 12 years ago. It is a Phillips and they were the first company to produce one. It has been used almost daily without even one issue. I am in the market for a new one and my first stop will be to check out their xxl model as I will be moving my old one to the beach. No a fan of Cosori as I have had one of those for a couple of years--and mine cooks unevenly and is very loud. If you haven’t tried the Phillips would you consider reviewing it?

Thanks for your insight on these air fryers! I’m presently dealing with the Cosori recall. I loved my air fryer before it was recalled. Unfortunately, the recall has not had an acceptable result for me. At the end of the registration process it asked me to choose my replacement and they didn’t have another air fryer available. All I could get was an indoor grill. I think Cosori should be required to replace the recalled air fryer with a comparable one. This is so frustrating!! As much as I loved it, I will never buy another Cosori product due to their handling of this issue. This is just unacceptable 🤬

As a short person, I prefer the more forward facing control panel on the Cosori Pro 2. I don’t need to get a stool to stand on just to operate the air fryer. However, I am not so thrilled with the detachable inner basket. It feels flimsy and when I use the dishwasher to clean up, the two part basket takes up most of the space in the dishwasher. If I ever get another air fryer, I think I will look for a drawer style that uses an inner tray instead of a basket.

My Emeril Lagasse AF is very old->10 years, gifted to me by my sister thru my mother. My mother always bought the weird thing. My sister started off making french fries in her air fryer. Then progressed to frozen meats and other veggies. I ignored the AF as I didn't know what to do with it. I used it for pot pies, then heating up old pizza, then frozen pizza, then frozen biscuits. I recently made barbecued chicken! My recipes are finally expanding. Then, a friend got one so I googled recipes for AFers and found you! Thanks so much! I'm about to really expand!

I have cooked a whole chicken, lamb chops , sausage, chicken breast, thighs wings, bacon, full English fry up . Oven frozen chips come out amazingly, in regular over they are either over cooked, burnt or they are hard undercooked in the middle

I have found that it works with fresh whole foods, just fine, I don’t use all these convenience foods here in the UK, we don’t have them. I’ve had a speedy Ninja for home and love it, so much so when we go down to our caravan each month, I really missed it, so I’ve just order the 5.5 Cosori for when we are down there. I haven’t got enough room for my speedi I’m hope the Cosori fits inside the over 😂. But I’ve done roast pots with normal potatoes and chips with normal potatoes all turn out lovely, with Lamb chops underneath and I did rice and threw my veg on top. So personally I think it cooks proper food just as easily, which is what I wanted, we don’t do frozen foods much either. Hope that helps, I don’t think you’ll regret a moment, all I regret is not getting it sooner, it’s so quick and easy

My experience with the Cosori company was amazing. I completed the online forms on Easter Sunday, and although they said it could take 6 weeks or longer it didn’t, I think it was just over a week, but they sent another air fryer. Bummer.
I contacted them, they sent a prepaid label for me to return the air fryer, and after dropping it off at FedX I sent a screenshot of the receipt, and again they told me the replacement would take up to 6 weeks, it didn’t. Within days I received the indoor grill. If only all
online companies worked as smoothly! By the way, I never had any issues with the air fryer that was recalled.

I rarely buy pre-packaged stuff like chicken nuggets, fajitas etc - I make my own from scratch. Including pastry cases and pies. It cooks potatoes and veg from raw/fresh just fine. Chicken - no problem. Steak, no problem. And I baked a quiche baking blind first then adding the filling later in the day and it was perfect. It REALLY excels at baking. I find with things like fajitas or stir fry they are better if you use a spray (from amazon) with oil or olive oil in it - it’s still less fatty than conventional frying. Without extra oil things can be dry.

My main gripe with the Cosori is that I often have a hard time seeing the cooking options as the only selection that lights up is the Air Fry button. I wish ALL the buttons lit up since these eyes aren't so young anymore and the least amount of glare? Forget seeing any of them. If they can all light up when you turn it on why can they stay on until the cooking is done?

Thanks for the info, Cathy! I use the Cosori Pro 2, 5.8 qt at home and love it. However, just a note in defense of the little air fryers. I also have a teeny 1 qt air fryer. Yes, it takes a little longer to cook, but I travel for work a lot and it is easy to pack. I get tired of restaurants. "Teeny" (yes, I named her) comes in very handy after a long day in an unfamiliar small town with only a greasy spoon or fast food restaurant on offer. The air fryer is large enough to make a perfect sized meal for one. Most hotels don't allow it to be used in the guest rooms, but many have allowed me to use electrical outlets in the breakfast room to cook my meal.

I have recently bought my first air frier, the Instant Versazone. What I love about it: pies, pastry, quiches, naan breads - fantastic! light and flaky or soft as applicable, quiche cooked perfectly after baking blind (in the air frier). Lemon drizzle cake - brilliant. Fajitas - brilliant. Steak or burgers - brilliant (without the smell filling the whole house). Stir fry - brilliant. Frozen fries/oven chips - brilliant. Frozen croissants/pastries - brilliant. Sync finish - brilliant. What I don’t like: It’s huge. It has its special place on the counter but I had to move a lot if stuff around to accommodate it. It’s awkward to clean due to weight and bulkiness of basket, (but it cleans up easily - but you need to keep on top of it as even if you clean it after use grease does build up in the nooks and crannies of the rack). Cleaning the elements - really challenging because it is an awkard shape to turn upside down, and then getting underneath the elements is risky - the steel circle of the fan mechanism is razor sharp! Home made fries - rubbish. They just haven’t worked for me despite several attempts. Spitty food, grease gets onto the area behind the elements. Non-spitty food seems to be no problem. If I were buying again I might opt for the Vortex Dual with the clear windows, as the loss of space would be offset by the ability to see what’s going on. I haven’t tried roasting a chicken or leg of lamb in it yet, but I imagine the mess on the elements would really really annoy me…however, it is saving me a bundle on electricity, and I have hardly used the main oven since I got it. The Instant App is useless - I couldn’t get it to recognize me. But you can get recipes on the Instant brands website, there are good facebook groups and youtube howtos available. It was well worth the money.

I currently have the Ninja Pro XL Air Fryer Oven. While I love how large it is, you are right about what a pain they are to keep clean! I live alone, so it has become my primary oven not just for air frying, but for baking as well. I love not having to waste the energy required to run my full-size oven if I'm just baking six muffins or a few cookies. I even use it to roast my veggies for the week using two quarter sheet pans. I think I've only turned on my full size oven once since getting the Ninja air fryer oven and that was because I was baking dozens of cookies for a friend's party. So, while it is a pain to keep clean, it really meets my needs well. I still have my older 5 qt. PowerXL barrel style air fryer as well that I use if I just want to air fryer something small. I've found trying to cook small items in the larger oven just doesn't work that well. It think it's just too large of a space for a smaller food item and it can result in inconsistent cooking.

I got an air fryer as a gift, and I love it. I like everything about it except that I wish it was a little bigger, and that it had a heating element on the bottom. It's a PowerXL vortex pro 4 qt. One feature I really like is the BAKE preset. It sets the temp at 320 and the time for 30 min. and is adjustable - but the best thing is that it uses a lower fan speed. It's great for baking of course, or for anything that needs slow cooking without burning the top.

I actually have the Philips and like it very much. Use Dawn Powerwash to clean (per your advice). If you can't be with the air fryer you want, love the one you're with. (🎶) I do preheat occasionally to get that wire grate hot. Your cookbook is really great. Everyone needs one. The balsamic pork tenderloin is always a dinner guests pleaser as are the chocolate molten lava cakes which we always serve with vanilla ice cream and a fancy sliced strawberry. Great review of your four favorites. Can't wait for your branded model.

Cathy, thank you for all the information. I had watched some of your videos before I bought my first air fryer in December 2022. I bought the Cosori 5.8 qt smart air fryer (not on the recall list). I think I am finally past the learning curve, and I am seldom setting off my smoke detector, when I use the air fryer now. There are two things I don't like about this air fryer. One, having to continuously press the plus or minus sign button for adjusting the time or temperature, until reaching the desired setting. The second is trying to hand dry the fins on the side of the basket. These are a pain. I like the convenience of not needing to turn on my big oven, and that food is done faster in the air fryer. I am cooking for one, but sometimes I wish the basket was slightly larger, so I don't need to cook some of my meal in batches. However, I am in a one-bedroom apartment, so counter space is an issue. I have baked rolls in the air fryer, and I am impressed how they turned out. I love how any type of potato turns out. For the first time, the other day, I put in a frozen piece of tilapia to cook, and I was impressed by how quickly the fish cooked, and how moist it was. No more defrosting the fish first for me. This is a big time saver! Thank you for all your tips!

Hey Cathy, thanks for another informative video you are great. I purchase my first Air Fryer in Dec., 2022, from Costco. I bought the Gourmia 7 qt, 1500w model number GAF798. It measures 9x91/2, with the basket tray in, the depth is 4 3/4 w/o 5 1/2. For my first one ever, it does the job just great. Love the review on the Cosori II, perhaps when this one no longer works I will probably upgrade, I am very happy with this one until then. Loving your refrigerator magnets, I always reference them when cooking, mine Air Fryer does take a little longer to cook, by a few minutes yet it still does the job and I always use my temperature gauge to check for doneness. 😊

The Cosori model recalled in 2023 relates to those sold in the USA, Canada and Mexico ONLY.
Those sold in Europe run on a different voltage and do NOT have the fault even if it has the same serial number quoted on the recall notice.
If you hold the temp button for 3 or 4 seconds you can change from Fahrenheit to centigrade if required.

I have tried dual blaze and ninja dual basket and few other brands with round baskets. I also have a small 2qt Chefman which is great when I want to do smaller meal or second food separate from what's in my big Corsori. I definitely prefer my current Corsori square basket - you get most room this way so you can have space between foods in there. I love the shake feature that beeps. The only thing I dislike about it is cleaning it. Thanks for all your videos Cathy! You definitely helped me use it a lot.

I like the presets, the basket (I wish I could get a new one, but it works) and preheating isn't required but it is recommended. It has a 5 min. reheat button which is handy. It's interesting that you mention the smoke, as I've noticed that too but I hadn't tied it to the bottom burner in my head -- you're probably right. If it's doing something that's particularly prone to smoking (usually fatty meat), I keep it at 350 or lower, and that seems to solve the smoke problem without adding significant time.

I've owned an inexpensive air fryer for a while and it works fine but I wanted the Dual Blaze because it is higher power and no flip. I purchased the refurbished unit on Amazon for $80. When I tried it out the first time to fry bacon it kept tripping the GFI. I thought I had a defective unit but when I thought about it I realized that 1750 Watts on the same circuit as the refrigerator overloads the circuit when the refrigerator kicks in while the air fryer is in use. (Also shuts the refrigerator off - beware.) Once I plugged it into a different circuit the problem disappeared. A nice feature of the Dual Blaze is that the basket has no holes in the sides the way my previous one did. That allows me to pour out the bacon fat without getting it all over the sink. I love this unit. It has had the effect that I am now the main cook in our house.

This video is hit the nail on the head for every major question I was curious about. One being the dimensions of the basket and options available. Thanks to you I've decided on the Instant VersaZone purely for its basket size and ability to cook two different meals and have them finish at the same time or one large meal. Also your tip; using aluminum foil for easy clean up. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thank you so much for your videos.

I just got a Cosori Pro II after a bunch of research. It is my first air fryer. I would have preferred a 5 quart or may gotten away with a 4 quart. However, the problem I ran into are the baskets. I knew I wanted a square basket of course, but the ones with those plates on the bottom are a pain waiting to happen. I like the inner basket design of the Cosori pro II. I think the Cosori is as close as we get to "the perfect air fryer". Although I must admit that I don't know what the "perfect air fryer" is supposed to be as I am new to this game.
I also like the support of the Cosori fryers and they have the best warranty (yeah, the Phillips has a longer warranty, but it is not worth it).
Two things I will NOT make in my air fryer:
Bacon: Sure, it likely cooks up great, but it takes forever and the mess is not worth it either. Microwaves are for bacon in my opinion. (Bacon tray with paper towel = far less mess and cooks in 4 minutes).
Steak: I have to see grill marks or forget it. I can do a better job with a traditional grill pan in the same amount of time.
I have mine for about a week and not used it yet except today I just ran it through the testing. So now when the rest of my needed accessories arrive I can start to use it. (I'm waiting on some silicon trivets and an oil sprayer before I can use it). I'm kind of excited to be able to make chicken parmesan again as well as chicken cordon blue and experiment with making some other dishes. I have an oven, but it is around 2000 watts and takes forever to heat up and cool down and it can't be used during warm weather. I have never used it because of fear of expense (I can see making a pizza to cost me around $40 to $60 on my electric bill, no thank you). The air fryer will have a 7 or 8 inch pizza done in no time and cost far less.
My problem is lack of counter space in what they call a kitchen (I call it a too small disaster). Clean up will be harder for me though as I do not have a sink equipped with a sprayer. I did get me some Dawn Power Wash though, which should help.
I have some Trader Joes mini wontons and some eggrolls to try in it. I also just discovered "popcorn chicken", but still trying to figure out what that is before I buy it, I have never seen it before. I'm not sure I would like it. I already know I don't like those breaded chicken tender things I tried a couple of times.

Its shape, being circular, means it holds a little less than I like, but its "AI" is excellent. I prefer the halogen oven over the air fryer, I’ve got both and they both perform exactly the same duty , but with the halogen cooker you can see exactly what’s going on and what stage your cooking is at which I find a great help..All the best from the UK .

I bought my first ninja dual drawer and 10 days later I bought the tower 7 lt vizion. I like both for different reasons. Another thing, I do t turn half way when doing chicken thighs, not necessary maybe a whole chicken bc there's not the the same space for air circulation.

Hi there Cathy, my you look good for a woman who has 8 children, it's great to watch them giving you mark's out of 10 for your recipes. I live in Scotland & have the Cosori, it's the one 8"x 8" , I live myself so it suits me fine, I have made a sponge cake, pavlova & puffs
I made a chicken the other night, a bit dry, maybe you can tell me how you do yours. Thanks for all your videos from me in Scotland 😁😁

Thanks to your great recommendations, we purchased a 3.7 qt COSORI (old school with the dials, and no touch functions). It is on recall, and as I did the chord cut, we are anxiously awaiting our replacement 😢. We live in an RV, and have used the AF almost daily!

Since I cut my cord 2 days ago we've been forgetting we don't have the air fryer so we have to make last minute cooking plans😆 I'm hoping it comes fast, but I am pondering buying a second one for our RV so we don't have to wait weeks to have one again.

I have been using a Philips for about 3 years now and don't like the mesh bottom basket either. I find that the Grill Pan accessory not only allows for a bit more space and makes it easier to flip foods, but is much easier to clean. The only time I use the mesh bottom basket is when making things that need to be shaked, like french fries.

I have a Cosori Pro purchased in September 2021 after watching Carol cook for her large family. Just got the recall notices in February from Cosori which I have investigated and will be accomplishing it soon. Issue I don't like about my air fryer is cleaning the basket fins and vent holes. I use the Dawn products with a brush and dish rag and still a pain. I've used my so much the basket holder is warped on all 4 sides and the basket is drooping.

Hello again. Just want to say thank you for this fantastic video; it educated me about what I needed! I did buy a smart oven that air fries (my oven isn't working and may not get one for a while). I know that it won't do the air frying really well, but everything else--yes. Meanwhile, I got a Ninja 5-in-1 that I like last week, but...I hate the way it looks on the counter (like a wide flying saucer).
So, after watching your video--4-5 times (lol)--I'm convinced that the Cosori Pro 2 is what I need.
What sold me on it is:
--The pull-out basket...using the Ninja, I find having to use tongs slightly annoying.
--The dimensions and shape....not as wide and will look good on the counter (and will match my new smart oven). I like how it leans in on top
--How easy it seems to use
Anyway, thank you so much! I will def be purchasing through one of your links and coming back to your channel to learn how to cook with the Cosori.
One final thing....any way to hack the tray with a pseudo divider if I want to separate veggies (sort of like you can with the Versazone)? I'd love to keep them separate at times OR I'll just have to learn how to add them in based on cooking times.

      @empoweredcooks  Рік тому +1

Sounds like a great choice, Lisa! So glad to have you here! As far as dividing food goes, you don't need a divider for this basket. That's really only needed if you're cooking in two diff temperature settings. Watch this video for some ideas on how to cook two foods at once!

@@empoweredcooks Thanks--just watched that video. Very helpful! Those cheatsheets look great.
One final question for now...I was on your website and saw the link to the Cosori Pro 2. It said $99, but when I clicked, it said $127.49. I suspect there was a deal at one point, but not currently. I wonder if it might drop for Memorial Day....
Anyway, if it doesn't, no problem...
      Thanks again!
