Elephant in the room: The first engine I rebuilt in 1973 was a 392 Hemi, unbenounced to many of you it was a dodge truck engine and the reason I know that is because I grew up on a farm and our dodge grain truck had that engine. nice vid, you should have given back ground on the engine and it would have been great.
@Rocky. Dodge used various cubic inch hemi engines in their trucks, depending on application, but to the best of my knowledge and experience, the largest factory installed hemi was 354 cubic inches. It was Chrysler based but substantially modified in numerous ways for it’s intended heavy duty use.
I've owned many of the early hemis, including one just like this, with wcfb carburetors on it. They were definitely the most powerful engine of the era, as witnessed in the top fuel drag racing ranks

Lots of comments on the cooling issue. Both sides have it incorrect. Yes, it won't overheat if only run for a minute. And at least it had water in it. However, what most certainly happened is a very rapid temperature rise around the exhaust valve pocket in the head. Thats where the majority of the heat is going to go. Water is better than air, but not circulating it, the temp rise will be very fast. Im not a fan of doing this with a vintage, valuable engine. Its too easy to run a universal hose from the t-stat housing to the waterpump, and a belt on the pulleys.
Now that's what engine should sound like! 👌 I have nothing against e-vehicles, but they lack this personality hemi's got. Sure, I only drive 5.7 hemi myself, but still I'd miss its sounds if our government tries to force e-vehicles on us. It certainly tries... 😑
It was a Fury, biggest fins ever and two tone paint. White roof and " bittersweet" body color. It was a cross between a dull Pink and orange.Only reason I gave up on it was the early A466 t-flies.Kept on killing the front clutch piston covering the clutch Pak. Changed three times with same results every time.Multiple cracks. Bought the B&M adapter all the gassers used to put an A-727 in it but since made for a gasser, the starter was a big issue necessitating a dropped center link and on and on so I sold the car complete rust free(70k original mi. One owner) with the engine,no trans as a rolling project in 2003 for $3500 on ebay. Guy in michigan bought it and did a very nice resto.
Se fosse aqui no Brasil, aquele galão de combustível teria consumido inteiro, por conta da má qualidade do combustível, e preço altíssimo fica inviável termos belos V8
I think that the highest HP rating given the 392 was 395 HP, which made it the first to achieve 1 HP per cubic inch. Probably about 1954, or thereabouts. This one sounds great.
