Oh I remember being bummed that I didn't get a ticket for Brixton Academy. Then I remember seeing the announcement for the DWT and just being desperate for the tickets to go on sale. Then when the tickets went on sale, even though she was doing two weeks of shows in the then biggest indoor UK venue. I managed to get tickets and had a ball!!! ❤❤

The previous interview they are referring to where she gives him panties was in 1994. It was a very controversial interview as she said f*ck 14 times making it the most censored episode in talk show history. Madonna was reportedly stoned for the interview and only went on to confront Letterman about the regular jokes he would make about her on his show. She also refused to leave at the end and demanded there be no commercials. It is very entertaining to watch and gave Letterman his highest ratings yet.

She really does get nervous before live performances, particularly in front of industry people, I think it’s an important part of being a performer…gives her that extra drive. Did you see her hand trembling when she sang Sooner or later at the Oscars….? it’s so clear how nervous she was! Great reaction to one of my favorite acoustic versions of Don’t tell me! And now that you’ve put that out there Brenda, there is an occasion coming up where you can have a beer with Madonna in a pub. There’s a documentary called I’m Going To Tell You A Secret. You will be at a pub with Madonna. Surely everybody’s going to recommend watching this, because it’s awesome.
The panties that Dave keeps beating her with are referring to the last time she was on the David Letterman show. It was one of Madonna’s more raunchy appearances it was during the erotica error, so she was actually in character.
You might want to review that, or any other interview with David Letterman because their chemistry is hilarious. Strange that Dave said see you in another six years, because I believe it is actually six more years before she sits down with him. Hopefully you do other interviews with Madonna, I find them all to be a tour de force. She does not suffer fools. She’s a little too intelligent, and a little too witty. Most interviewers do not see that coming.

I love it ❤ this is such a good interview, really showing her sense of humour, which many interviewers don't manage (possibly they are intimidated , I dunno, she certainly doesn't suffer fools) her performance was great. I've mentioned before but you should try and watch/review the Tears of a Clown shows she did. They really are unique but I think you'd love /get them, she plays guitar throughout ❤

This 2000 appearance in Letterman is a complete turn around from her last one in 1994 where she fell for Letterman’s baits who goaded her about her Sex book and Erotica era exploits that resulted in a raunchy and sexually explicit exchange that drew criticism and bad publicity directed mostly at Madonna. She’s learned her lesson since then, this time she graciously parried Letterman’s tactics and turned the personal questions back to him. From hereon, they’ve earned each other’s respect, became friends, and her later appearances with Letterman were as enchanting and benignly hilarious. She’d also continue with her guitar playing on future tours beginning with her 2001 DWT. She would later in 2000 marry Guy Richie after giving birth to their son, Rocco. She eventually bought a country estate manor house and a Victorian pub in England. ❤your fascinating reaction and insight to this video.😊

Thanks for the reaction. The little mini show she did in NY that she was talking about she also did one in London. You should listen to the interview she did with the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show host Sara Cox she loved Britain at the time and we loved her. The hype for the show was like nothing anyone had seen. It was held at Brixton Academy in London a venue more used to hosting indie bands. Everyone was desperate for a ticket but you had to win one on radio 1. The VIP section on the balcony was a whos who. The show was broadcast on MSN and it was the biggest watched online event ever. It's now on YT and worth a watch...and maybe a reaction? ❤❤ ❤❤❤ Oh and then just after the show there was Roccos christening and then the wedding the BBC news coverage was insane! They even had 30 mins specials on BBC Liquid News. ❤❤

When you get to “What it Feels Like for a Girl”, you should listen to the audio album version in addition to the music video. She uses a remix in the music video and it does not have any lyrics - not to mention musically completely 2 different songs.

Hello, Madonna and Dave did an interview in 1994 that caused a lot of scandal Madonna ended up in all the newspapers and news for saying 13 a bad word and for giving him a pair of briefs. She went there because the conductor always made fun of her and she went to settle the score, but it didn't go well for her because people didn't like the provocation she implemented.The following year they showed up arm in arm at MTV where Madonna promised him that he would never say any more bad words

Madonna and David keep referencing their 1994 interview, which was TV Gold. She kept cursing and swearing, confronting David about his constant jokes about her. Even in future interviews they’d talk about that specific night. This 2000 interview was of course nothing like that, and they were able to joke about that fateful night 😅 oh, and the song in the very beginning is called “cook and f**k”. We never heard the lyrics to it and that was the only time we heard this song being played 😂

I know I always go on about her outfits, but this one is really spectacular. Not sure who made it, but very much in the style of a designer called Nudie.
Nudie was famous in the 1950-70s for his elaborately beaded western outfits he made for everyone from Roy Roger's + Dale Evans, Gene Autry, John Wayne to Elvis, Cher and Elton John.
May I recommend for the next single you listen first to the album version and then watch the video. Dramatically different versions and hearing the album version is important, plus you'll love the amazing lyrics you'd miss in the video.

I never liked Dave. He obviously had a thing for Madonna and acted like an immature teenager almost everytime she was on. The way a lot of the interviewers acted back in the day was so cringe. I think they started to respect her more around this era though. On another note, my long time fantasy has been for her to do an acoustic tour, where she just sits on a stool and sings her ballads. Her voice just calms me and makes me happy. Also, I totally agree with you both. Another one of my long-time fantasies has been just to sit and have a long, intellectual conversation with her about absolutely everything.

I sometimes find talk shows like this excruciating to watch as the conversation is often forced and so unnatural. I think overall in Madonna’s career she has kept these kind of appearances to a minimum. I think Madonna is not necessarily ‘made’ to these interviews as I sometimes feel she gets nervous because she doesn’t have much control and is not really that spontaneous naturally. Madonna is a great conversationalist when she is on the serious side.
I’ve never liked this interviewer. He is just a bit misogynistic in my opinion.
