When we live in places when the weather is brutal during certain times of the year.. people have to prepare early.. that is just the way things work.. 1.. food, water and charged portable generators.. These products should be stored just for emergency..Threes should be cut back or removed away from the building no matter how beautiful they are..During the winter keep cars filled with gas..you will get use to the routine..Your house is your most valuable asset..

Hi Isaac. Take a lot of pix and call your home insurance agent. May get a new roof out of it! Perhaps consider contacting someone to cut down those pines around your home. Pine trees have a shallow root system. It doesn’t take much to bring them down.

Trying to keep this short, if you start watching at 14:11 (you walking around on roof). My husband and I both saw several times where the roof was sinking in where you were stepping. Be careful!!!!! I know it's really bad that the trees can just fall on the roof that easily but it's really cook that you can just walk in your roof from the ground. I got my granddaughter that exact princess tent. She loves it.

Wow bad weather, my husband's suggestion is to get a Cummins whole house generator power by propane, because propane is reliable and does not go bad. You might need to get a large propane tank, but it is better than a wood burning stove, no cleaning stove inside and out, no cutting firewood, going out to get wood. Yes might be expensive but once the generator is set up it is all good. ❤😊
Tip from when our roof was punctured by a branch: you can fashion a temporary shingle from hard plastic or keep some aluminum shingles handy. Slide it under the shingle that’s up hill and overlap it with the shingles below it. Think about how water will run down hill over that shingle. That will be more secure than a tarp or anything you can just set on top of it. Our roofer said we did one of the best homeowner patch jobs he’s seen. Not going to lie, I was very proud of myself lol. But aluminum shingles are just a couple bucks a piece. You can just buy a few just to have just in case.
I read a comment below about how insurance companies work and just wanted to reiterate that statement. Insurance companies do everything in their power to NOT have to pay out. I had concerns too when I seen you walking on your roof then I instantly thought about them using your videos blaming you. It sucks but that's their game. I've heard some really bad stories about insurance companies but I've also heard good ones so let's just pray they do the right thing. I firmly believe in reaping what you sow. Hi I would recommend you get a fan specifically designed for wood stoves .It sits on top of the stove so that the heat from the stove will be pushed throughout the house . They work well.

Just troubleshootin, but maybe plug off the holes with flex seal until it thaws out, lol. Get some quotes for spot fixes and a complete reroofing and see how much is the difference. Maybe you can get a new roof for almost the same price as a spot fix? Also maybe call the tree guy and get that tree dropped? Good luck, stay safe and warm.
Found out why you got fairly small tree purchase punching holes straight through the sheet rock of your ceiling inside your house! The previous owner was a cheapskate and put waferboard instead of plywood on a roof in the middle of the woods that could’ve killed. Somebody had a bigger branch came through. You guys need to slowly replace that garbage wood with real plywood. You can replace one board at a time like we did because we couldn’t afford to put on a $20,000 roof. So my husband removed two full sheets of plywood at a time and replaced our entire roof this way. Yeah it took a while but it was a lot cheaper and it really isn’t that hard once you get the hang of it.!👍🏻👍🏻
home owners insurance should cover that... thank God you have a few extra places to be including the truck.... come spring cut all the trees that are close to the house, to prepare better for next year. large tarp some tar sealant they make one that is water proof, some roof nails, that will hold it till you are able to get it done..
Hey Brother , Go to Home Depot,or Lowes and get Seal tape for windows and or for roofing plywood, It's very playable and you can seal up the holes,use a heat gun to melt and dry the roof shingles off. It will get you through the winter till you get a new roof or a good patch, GOOD LUCK 👍💪🙏🇺🇸

This spring. I know many Contractors who have put a Tarp on their own buildings until weather better. At this point for the rest of the roof & other buildings> I would tarp all your buildings that have trees & low branches by them. 😉 let it go & stay energy efficient & warm.

Hi Issac, I am new to your channel and I also subscribed to your wifes channel. I am a homeowner and you better believe you need to take the trees down around your property. We had a huge tree fall on our fence in the backyard and Thank God all it did was knock the power out. Needless to say, we had 4 trees removed from our property after that. It was very expensive, but not as expensive if they had fallen on our home.
Awesome that your friend was able to get that fixed. Man, you're gonna have to go around the house in the spring and decide which trees you want to keep. I took 15 trees off my property down here in Tx right before Ike hit. But the one I thought wouldn't damage me, did. A branch fell 80' into my new house. (trailer) Luckily, it was still under warranty and they rebuilt it. A branch of a long leaf yellow pine tree can do some damage man. Whoa. Ya'll keep warm and take care, dude stay off the frozen roof. lol..

Roofing companies put giant tarps on the roofs until it can be reroofed. You could also try some rubber patches with flexseal maybe.

We had a huge tree fall on our fence in the backyard and Thank God all it did was knock the power out. Needless to say, we had 4 trees removed from our property after that. It was very expensive, but not as expensive if they had fallen on our home.

Awesome that your friend was able to get that fixed. Man, you're gonna have to go around the house in the spring and decide which trees you want to keep. I took 15 trees off my property down here in Tx right before Ike hit. But the one I thought wouldn't damage me, did. A branch fell 80' into my new house. (trailer) Luckily, it was still under warranty and they rebuilt it. A branch of a long leaf yellow pine tree can do some damage man. Whoa. Ya'll keep warm and take care, dude stay off the frozen roof. lol..

Looks like you're going to have to have that roof completely redone. I think you're right I would just tarp it so that it keeps the water from getting in your house😱

Good for you Isaac, seems you pulled it off with little stress but I'm sure that was for show. This winter seemed a little harsh for so many of us, I'm from Texas and my biggest fear was busted pipes. I don't remember the last time Dallas hit 19deg. Prayers for your family and the rest of us who are dealing with these cold temps.
