I just made 24 candles. I colored them. I started blending my own wax and it gives me nice tops and no frosting. It has taken me around two years to discover which tins, glass, wicks and wax. It is a science. There are times when I make them exactly the same every time and they look different. Soap is definitely easier for me than candles.

Thank you for the tips, Ellen. I've had a problem getting my wooden wicks to stay lit in the beginning. After several tries, they finally stay lit. I love the common sense behind the soft wood and hard wood combo. I also have seen medium wood wicks. Not sure I want to try them yet. Will definitely do the double wick process. You have saved me a lot of research. Thank you. Like anyone, my time is valuable now that I'm babysitting my precious grandchildren half a day. Thank you a million times over. I want my customers to return.

Great video Ellen. I love the 'old fashioned look of tin candles too. Another pro tip is I use a pancake cone pourer - it's less messy and makes pouring candles quick and easy. I'll now have to go through all my scents I use for soap making and see if they would be good scents for candles too. Thanks for sharing and happy holidays!

Hi Ellen. Do you ever run into these wicks drowning in the wax? I’ve done cheap & expensive wicks with GW464 with 8-10% FO no color or dyes added. I don’t always get a beautiful flame. I have not tried BeScented wicks.
